Apart from the fact that you played national vs club...3 this already has an impact...in my opinion the AI CPU is something extraordinary of course PS2 version...having said these matches they always happened and will happen...or does a challenging game mean losing them all for you?

That’s a bad result, is that in ML, Cup, or League mode? ;)

Also, it depends on the mentality of individual players. If the opposition players’ mentality is low then their heads can drop and then you can win easily, but if it is high, then they keep their heads and try to fight back.

Sad for me to say but it was a bit like Spurs v Brighton a couple of weeks ago :(

That is really weird, i never ever thought i would find out why that would happen so thanks for sharing.

The solution is to just edit the ISO file itself. :)

How do you mean national vs club? :)
Dinamo Zagreb is club in 1. Croatian League, and Royal Antwerp is club in 1. Belgium league. No national teams here. :NO:

I picked Dinamo Zagreb because I love to play with weak teams.

I played with this settings:
Match Mode
Top Difficulty
Arrows on normal both teams (green)
Both teams have the same 4-3-3 tactics

But I think that result is because of Match Mode, in Master League I think would be different.
Sometimes Match mode can be easier the ML mode. :)
 
Does anybody know is it possible to import pes6 stadiums in pes2008/we2008 ps2?

pes6 have some amazing stadiums, I would like to put them in pes 2008 ps2

Hello Heisenberg. What version of pes 2008 on psp would you say is the best. Is it the US or EU version. I heard that the EU version had a bug in the PS2 version during ML. Does this but apply to the psp version as well. One las question is what do you think of pes 2009 onwards on the PS2 and psp.
 
@Balo , both US and EU version of PES 2008 have the salary issue. The PSP version of EU and US at least - both - fixed the issue related to classic/hidden players appearing in ML like in the EU PS2 version.
WE 2008 has everything fixed.
 
Back to PES 2008 (PS2) again after an International Break with PES 5 and PES 6.

Three games in Division 2 of ML with the default team sum up this game and this very different AI, compared to the above.

Playing Fulham over two legs in the cup and once in the league (this often happens back-to-back of course) and I won 3-1, drew 2-2 and lost the league game 5-1.

FIVE - ONE! I have not had a thrashing like that in any PES for ages. PES 2008 (PS2) lacks some of the physics of PES 5 in particular, but it provides a challenge so often lacking in modern footy games and even in most classic era instalments.

I thought I should quote you on this thread because the other one was getting derailed :D

I cannot understand either, if they just left it the same they would have been so good. Especially with the revamped ML, bigger leagues, scouting players before seeing their stats, sponsorship, real money and not ML points.

I try occasionally to play them but something is not quite right with them. I think they are too arcadey even with my stat adjustments. Also, the pitch seems narrower or longer, it just does not seem right. I cannot work it out. Even while I am typing this I am thinking of giving them another chance. :LOL:

You have online on Internet some great Brazilian patches, but I don't like when it is not on English, so I modified and created with editor ISO file and OF with everything on English that include all those great HD things from other foreign patches.

So now I have J-League Winning Eleven 2009 Club Championship translated English and with HD stadiums and logos.
Let the amazing journey of Master League begins. :APPLAUD:
 
Match number 70 is between Nottm Forest v Norway, the first half was a bit boring but then kind of burst into life. A good game in the end with a number of chances.

If you want I can give you ISO I use, because unfortunately this game is so little patched and translated, and I dont understand why. :/

I made some modification on J.League Winning Eleven 2009 Club Championship.

I combined 2 patches together, one with graphics from Brasilian patch maker, and one patch translation on English with some other graphic differences from second patch.

ISO have great player faces,HD logos, HD stadiums, WeShop unlocked, all names and kits for clubs. Only difference is there are Brasilian teams instead od Japanese.

Also just wanna say (I've probably said this before but) PES/WE 2008, what a master piece.
I actually failed to get promoted to divi 1 in the first season of ML, TWICE! (default ML team ofcourse)

Once in PES2008 & then again in WE 2008 😆 You gotta be ready when you load these games.
If you aren't concentrating you can get absolutely destroyed.
 
JLWE2009CC is similar to PES2008 when it comes to AI. But only 2009 series, 2007, 2008, 2010 not, and I don't know why.
That's why I said that toughness of AI in PES2008 and JLWE2009CC is a fluke, a bug in the game because I think KONAMI didn't wont that.

Pes 2009 to Pes 2014 much weakened AI then Pes 2008. Why? Nobody knows...not even KONAMI itself. :LMAO:

What I found out is that AI respond to certain tactic, and stadium you play on because some turfs slow down ball and some don't.
So choose AI tactic carefully and stadium you play on. :)

2008 Club Championship has just as good AI as PES 2008 and WE 2008 if not better. 2007 was basically a debugged version of PES6. Not sure about 2010 as I haven’t played it a lot. But PES 2010 and the Japan only Aoki Samurai both have fantastic AI too.

Played 2008 CC, cant lose a game. AI is just bad in attack decision making.

They say 2008 CC is updated Pes2008, and that is not the case. Try playing pes 2008 ps2 5 games and 2008 CC ps2 5 games....you will win 4/5 in 2008 CC and only 2/5 in Pes 2008.

I played pes/we in tournaments for years, won different tournaments and the moment AI is too weak for me I stop playing because I dont enjoy it anymore.

Only Pes 2008 ps2 and 2009 CC ps2 havent got me to stop playing because intelligent AI.

I really think whichever version you personally 'like' you will think is best but to be honest after playing hundreds of hours of JLWE2008CC as well as PES 2008 and WE 2008 there is barely a difference. I've lost just as many games on PES/WE 2008 as I have on JLWE2008CC. The only thing is the difference in difficulty between the versions. The Japanese releases have the 6th star difficulty - SuperStar. Some say its more difficult than PES 2008 Top Player but others say its easier. In all honesty I doubt there is a major difference. I really don't think Konami took the 2008CC gameplay code and decided to make any drastic changes compared to the earlier release of PES/WE 2008 as they were focusing all their attention on the next-gen versions.

I found that PES 2008 5-star is tougher than WE 2008 6-star.

Either they fixed the bug if jt was one in WE 2008 or they adjusted the difficulty on purpose for the different markets.

That is exactly why I think that AI difficulty toughness in PES2008 is just a fluke, a bug made by KONAMI by accidence.
The moment I played Pes2008 ps2 on Top Player I was surprised how AI calculate decisions faster and better in attack.
Finally after a long time AI bested me with 2,3 goals difference.

Next thing I did was play WE2008 ps2 on Super Star level excited and expected much better AI, but what happened was the opposite.
I won game much easier on WE2008 ps2 Super Star level then on Pes2008 ps2 Top Player. How can that be?? It doesn't make any sense. :THINK:

Then I tested further with J.League WE CC versions.
Play 2007, easy.....2008 easy.....2009 I am losing games, AI play very sharp....2010 easy, winning games 3-0....It doesn't make any sense.

But after all is said and done, I am thankful to KONAMI for making that AI bug in Pes2008 and WE2009CC on ps2 versions. :D
 
I hate to break someone's immersion but it's just a really interesting topic for me. I'll put it in spoiler anyway, just in case.

I think a big factor in the difficulty is they have "boosted" how quickly a CPU defender reacts to your inputs.
It might be, that me playing on PCSX2 with the speed slowed to about 84%, is contributing. But I think it's just intentional:LMAO:

This is what the arcade games used for the final bosses. This is why they were unbeatable, because they react instantly to any input.
M. Bison in one of the Street Fighter 2 versions (I can't remember which exactly) ..
& also Shang Tsung & Shao Kahn from the early Mortal Kombat games.

Not that I'm complaining .. it's a very welcome feature/bug :D

PES 2008 is more difficult than WE2008 for sure. Been playing both quite a bit so I agree with you and can also confirm it.
