Arsenal Thread

Looking like 4th for you lot unless Bolton and Spuds find a bit of form. C'mon... one last hurrah for the season abeat Chelsea for us.
 
The thing with Arsenal is that you never write them off. They are still more than capable of winning all of their remainding matches.
 
Wenger has to take some blame for the defeat. Why play Denilson and Fab together? It don't work! Then to put Diaby out on the left wing when he could have added a bit of steel to the central mid is just plain stupid!

Next thing you know he's taking off Diaby and putting on Ljungberg! Surely it would have been better to take Denilson off and then move Diaby into the centre?

I do wonder sometimes about some of Wenger's tactical decisions, they baffle me. Why does he have an obession of playing central mids on the wings? Hleb keeps cutting inside all the time and giving it away, Diaby should be playing in the centre.

Looking at United, they have exactly what we need. A quick, direct wide player who scores goals (Ronaldo), a goalscoring central midfielder (Scholes), a solid, settled centre back pairing (Vidic and Rio).

Major team surgery is needed is we are to be up there challenging next season.

Even though they were poor against liverpool, they still managed to create quite a few chances. I think they have a great future tbh, but need a couple of "hard" players that have more fight in them when losing.

Nah just putting your limited footballing knowledge in its rightful place. you have a go at Arsenal for its British contingent yet your own team is top because of a portugese winker having an outstanding season.

As for our British players, Scholes, Giggs, Ferdinand and Carrick seem to be having decent seasons. Argument won I think!

Seems to be the big Manc thing on these boards. United are doing well so lets piss off everyone in each of their threads by saying how shit they are when they lose. But lets all whinge when someone dares to have a go back or put in their footballing point of view (as seen recently when i invaded the manc thread and everyone threw out their toys out of the pram) Is it any wonder your fans our detested at times? Between yourself and Alucard you manage to flame loads of threads with your incessent arrogance.

And yet you have a go at Arsenal for having the nerve to have hardly any british players. They may not be winning the league but their football is exceptional and they will bounce back, as i believe we will too, and Chelsea.

Thats all i've said, im never jealous of what you lot are doing we have our own proud history and heritage, as do many other teams. And dont bother replying either, your on the ignore list because you are as thick and annoying as Alucard.:applause:

The worrying thing for us was that fact that the defence we put out on Saturday was our 'first-choice' defence, and we went down to our heaviest defeat in 6 years.

Although the demands of the Champions League is regularly cited by managers as hindering their team's efforts in the league, Saturday's match at Anfield proved that the argument isn't absolute. Arsenal, with only league position to play for, were flawed and demoralised. Liverpool, four days before their meeting with PSV, were effervescent and determined. The incentive of a starting place on Tuesday - which Benitez refused to guarantee Crouch after his startling performance - was greater than professional pride.

I don't blame him, i mean he was crucial for us last season all they way through to CL final... only to get benched for cole? and now that we're in such shitty form, he's still not getting first team playing time(denilson? baptista? wtf)...

as for who'd i like Wenger to pick up, I'd just like to see the back 4 cleaned up... and just for kicks I'd like to see Farfan brought in from PSV, won't happen but it'd be nice :)
 
i'd like,

- Pele/Adler/Gomes - GK
- Some competition for Eboue/Hoyte
- Some competition for Clichy (Baines? Abidal?)
- A no nonense DMF, or keep Diaby centre
- 2 pure wingers - Ribery has been touted, Reyes won't stay, so f*ck knows who else.

- Pigs will fly


The chance of any of that happening is zero, as Wenger has admitted he is only looking for "special, special players", and he is happy with the squad.

I guess in essence, whoever we buy this season will be a bonus. Arsenal can't match the big clubs on money (debt of Ashburton Grove - plus Wenger not wanting to spend big), and on the second half of the season, our performances do not measure up as a team to who players would aspire to move to. (Sorry, i'm just in defeatist mode).

I guess the point in fact is how shit we really are right now.
For all the great football Arsenal seem to play I think it's interesting to point out that we've not won anything in the past two seasons.

No disrespect to Liverpool but PSV were without doubt one of the worst teams I've ever seen in a Champions League quarter-final. Ever.

This is however the same PSV side that beat Arsenal over two legs in the previous round - minus Alex and Arouna Kone. Apart from a Istanbul turnaround, PSV have a rats chance of getting through to the Semi's.

Our record against the top 3 reads W3 D1 L1. A mix of experience to cover the loss of Vieira, Pires and Bergkamp, and youth, is needed and the club will need to spend big this summer and bring in at least four world-class players if we're are going to stand any chance of winning a trophy next season.
 
I just think we need an out and out winger really. It's just the amount of injuries we've had this season and last season has been ridiculous and it's gone against us.
 
I wouldn't be too worried if I was a Gooner. You have some class players, it's just gonna be time waiting for them to gel now. We've had to wait for Ronaldo, Brown, Rooney etc to start playing properly for us. Everyone is on the 'Ronaldo is the best player in the world' bandwagon at Old Trafford at the moment when this time two years ago it was "Get Beckham back, Ronny is shite."

Patience is the key guys :)

Just been to the game and I have come to the conclusion that I hate West Ham and I hope they go down!!

Someone needs to teach our players how to score a bloody goal - its getting beyond a joke now!!
