Wenger has one 3 titles in 12 yrs and during a five yr period when we were one of the best teams in Europe we under achieved. We couldn't even get pass the champs league quarter final stage.

It's nothing personal against Wenger, am just saying that the modern game has changed and his struggling to adapt. Any other big team in Europe would have sacked him by now.

You mentioned that we were successful under George Graham. But Wenger was so much more than success - he bought a style of football that made other clubs around the world envious - we had world class players in many positions that clubs were envious of. We became a very well respected club aswell as Successful. He also was a huge factor in determining our new Stadium. He has constantly kept in the top 4 amongst the like of Chelsea, Man U and Liverpool that just throw money at players and has spent (on the whole) very well. Which has made us one of the best financed and run clubs in the world.

I think Wenger made a huge mistake - not replacing FLamini and Gilberto and not strengthening our defence. But I really thought we were only about 3 players away from winning the league etc last season. So this season has been a step back.

But I think Wenger needs to be given a chance - nomatter where we come this season. Because I think he is the only one (and the only one I trust) to bring us back up to where we were.

To be honest, I think he will leave before we ever get rid of him. Wenger is part of Arsenal.

you make some good points but wenger being "much more than success", I dont know about that..

i understand what you mean but success and trophies are the be all and end all to the big clubs, either challenging for them or winning them...

no one is gonna rememeber arsenals young-guns playing decent football for half a season, look at last year, some great football played...

but all anyone remembers is gallas spitting his dummy out..

arsene will get it right if given time, everyone wrote SAF off,

after the invincibles then the special one, no one thought we would get another look in and that SAF was way past it...

I think that this is a little harsh on Wenger mate.

Graham was great for us for 5 years, but he lost the plot by selling players like Limpar, Rocastle and Thomas and replacing them with dross like Helder, McGoldrick and Jensen.

After the players left from the Graham\Rioch years (apart from Bergkamp and Keown) Wenger built a team that went the whole season unbeaten in the league, winning the league in the process. No mean feat, I mean who else has done it?

He has changed players diets which have in turn extended players careers in the process (Keown, Bergkamp, Adams, Dixon, Winterburn all state this). His methods changed the face of English football forever.

He was instrumental in the move from Highbury to Ashburton, even helping design the dressing rooms and player facilities.

I could go on but he is simply our greatest ever manager and I include Chapman in that list. His only regret so far is that he hasn't yet won the CL. We came close in 2006 but we have underacheived in Europe. He has 3 more goes at it IMO.

Has his time come now? Well we will see. The public message coming out of the club is that money is available for transfers but he is choosing not to spend it.

My own take on it is that we have no money to spend at present, and Wenger's hand is being forced to gamble on players who have the POTENTIAL to be great but are unfortunately coming up short at the moment. This is why we are investing heavily in youth and hoping it pays off in the short\medium and long term. There is no better manager out there who can bring through young players so the fans who are now turning on Wenger are going to be disappointed. Arsenal will not sack him and he will not leave at the moment.

My best guess is that he will leave in 2011 at the end of his current contract.

I think we were very unlucky last year, for me Eddie's injury completely screwed our season. He was starting to score for fun and the 2 points dropped at Birmingham were crucial both mentally and in terms of the title race. People whinge at Gallas about his sit in protest but he is a champion and he knew deep down we were fucked at that moment.

Villa cannot go the whole season without injuries, and their second string is rubbish. They've managed to have the least changed team in the league so far this season, and that's what they'll need. Just don't see it happening.

I still think you'll finish 4th - the problem is going to be the mindset of Fabregas and Ade (maybe Van Persie?). Are they satisfied with 4th place? Do they think they can achieve more elsewhere?

I really hope not, because Arsene has something very unique in his team and mentality, and losing that would be a shame. I wish we'd just bring in salary caps so teams would become more comparable and about development again. It pains me to see United go out year after year spending ridiculous money on players that are only slightly better than some of our youth team.

Beat the Pool, sort the injuries out and you'll be fine. But not champions.

There are rumours that Arsenal might bid for Mexes and Pato. I dont know about Pato, but Mexes would be really good substitute for Gallas. Yea, that is only if Gallas leaves. I would be happy if Gallas leaves and Mexes comes in.
Pato, on the other hand, is really good but too young, so he'll just be another young kid. Moreover, we have loads of strikers now, i dont think we'll need him then.
 
Pato has the potential to be one of the Best players in the world but I doubt Milan would let him leave nor do you lot need a CF.

Pretty spot on there - but a Goalkeeper is the least of our worries.

Definately need more in defence and with Nasri and Walcott being injured - it does look like we may need another winger.

Also definately need someone decent to partner Fab in midfield.

Don't know how much he will spend or how many he will bring in. My guess it will be a couple of players and I am praying it is a quality Defender and a Quality defensive minded Midfielder.

We definately do not need any more forwards. Or if we do all the other areas need to be sorted first.

errrm this sounds similar, henry, flamini, vieira, gilberto, reyes, cole, campbell, upson have been replaced by who exactly, nearly all of them are still playing at the highest level, as good as some of the youngsters MAY become, they dont seem to be up to the challenge yet.

I'm not hating on wenger, or dont mean to come across that way, going unbeaten in the league is pretty good, nearly as good as winning all the major trophies (cough) and he has done alot for the game, but arsenal were a big club and champions before he joined, not some mid table team as one of your fellow supporters posted....
 
There must be something seriously wrong with your medical staff, first it's Rosicky who was due back within a few weeks and has now been out for nearly a season now it looks like Walcott could be the next victim and that's not to mention all the other injuries you guys seem to get.
 
Have to agree with you Jumbo.

Either the prognosis is wrong, treatment is wrong, or a combination of the both.

We may also be signing the wrong type (injury prone) players - Rosicky, Bischoff, Diaby. Nasri also seems to have joined that list as well. We had the a good midfield last season, and were relatively injury free (apart from Rosicky for the second half and Van P/Eddy).
 
I think the injury thing is the type of injuries and how the person reacts to treatment.

Rosicky is meant to be baffling surgeons/doctors all over the world. It is something that hasn't been seen before or if it has it is very rare (Read it a while ago - so I haven't got clear details).

Walcott is prone to Dislocated shoulders - so I think they are trying to let him heal as well as possible from the operation.

Eduardo has come back really quickly from a broken leg.

All the others - keep getting niggling injuries where they are out a bit here and a bit there. Which I think they had before they came to us.
 
All i want to see is 1 experienced DMF and 1 experienced good CB. and throw Gallas. Thats all we need for January.

Mexes/Van Buyten as CB.
Yaya Toure or Alonso as DMF
and sack Gallas!!
 
We need one winger to replace Rosicky. Nevermind Nasri, he will be back within 2-3 weeks.
Maybe AW should get someone on loan. As I recall, Julio Baptista did well.

About Pato: he's too young, but he's way much better than Bendtner isn't he? Well, Milan is never gonna let this happen anyway, so forget it.

Please guys, let me know how Eduardo is doing tonight. I won't be able to watch the game, but I really wanna know.
 
Did he? I thought he played well for 45mins, and was taken off as a precaution. No reaction to the leg break which is good.

2-0 with Randall and Gibbs scoring.

The man in his lime boots...





Will be great to have him back.
