Half arsed attempt at doubling up by Nasri and Clichy followed by a quarter arsed challenge by Denilson and then Almunia throwing it into his own net. Appalling. Sunday league stuff.
Rooney's goal was fabulously taken and all credit to the guy, but if you look at how we were lined up for that we were actually in a good position to deal with his run. But, not one Arsenal player bothered to track him or even try to challenge. It was as open a chance Rooney will ever get against a 'top 4' side.
Clichy can't tackle for most of the time and neither can't Denilson, Just compare with Sagna, who was great when he was positioned at the back. However, when he went up, no one covered him (looking at Park's goal). And after all, what's the point of sending up your full backs and exposing yourself like that, when their crosses don't meet a Proper Finisher?
Almunia doesn't even know where his own goal is! No sense of positioning whatsoever. To tip a ball in your own net like that? Sunday League indeed. F*ck it, just put Vito back for us. He's also not good enough, but at least he's young, has potential and can learn.
Finally, about us being caught on the breaks: I can only imagine how pissed off Vermaelen is. In Rooney's goal he was the only one who made an effort to catch up, but he was marking Park - trusting someone would mark Rooney. But no one did and he went properly mental.
The same with Park's goal, he was left once again on his own and didn't know who to mark. He probably made bad decisions and should have closed them down sooner, but still, was left on his own. Where was Gallas?
I wouldn't blame Sagna and Vermaelen for this defeat, especially because the Belgian had an injury and still gave his best! But the others were utter crap! Not even Song delivered it like he used to.
Let's move on. Next weekend, Vito Corleone in the goal for me, please.
