Well, regarding what Bobby was saying about our second string of players, I also think they really do need some serious bollocking for being so uninterested. I would say that some of them deserve a season on loan at Portsmouth or Burnley, just to finally get into their heads that wearing an Arsenal shirt is a fucking privilege, the peak of their careers for most of them.

Being rubbish is one thing and fans can tolerate technical limitation. But when you have a team filled with 22-year-olds on the pitch and they don't bust their guts the whole 90 minutes, there's something wrong. Especially when you see that 35-year-old Sol is putting in more effort than most of them. The work rate of our players is nowhere near our rivals'.

There's something very wrong there for a team so young and you'd expect much more energy and dedication.

I think jonney had a point a while ago when he mentioned that the young players don't really have the older players, that have been there and done that to look upto.

So these young players start to think just because they are playing well, then they will win. the other team are somewhat inferior at that point, so then they can coast along to the end.

It is a weird thing though. it happened a few times last seasona and the season before, when we took teams for granted and got beaten or lost points because of it. The team then said that they have learned from these games. It seemed so this season that they had to some degree and then the Wigan game came and it was ridiculous.

Denilson and Diaby are both good players (and epitomise what I am saying) with lots of potential and on their day can be great for us. Diaby in particular I think can be a special player. But they both need to get this laziness out of their game, they are slow tracking back, they let players run past them in dangerous positions and it is just not on.

At the moment we have a team of players that haven't won much between them. They don't have the experience of winning. They need people in the team to guide them and tell them and motivate them.

I think it will click, especially when half of our squad doesn't get injured for a season. But it is so frustrating to see such potential in the players and them not fulfilling it at the moment. Hopefully they will in the future.
 
I think we can all agree that Wenger made a sh*ty job in the transition from the "old" Henry, Bergkamp, Patrick, Cole, Campbell Arsenal to the new "disfigured" arsenal.

I think he gambled and it hasn't paid off yet. I would hardly say he has done a shitty job though.

He had alot of faith in young players that showed huge potential and were performing at a young age way before their years. Senderos had a good first season, Denilson played really well a couple of years ago. Clichy was playing really well. etc

You can never predict how a player will turn out, but he hoped that they would all flourish and mature. The thing is they are all still pretty young and a few years away from their so called 'prime' years. But because they have played at a high level for so long now, we expect them to have developed quicker? but maybe this has been detrimental to their progress?

Almunia had a good season last season, who would have thought he would have got so shit so quickly? (he was never the best, but he showed great signs last season)

Alot of how good you are judged in management is on results. sometimes there is a thin line between winning and losing and luck plays a big part in success.

Wenger has made some bad decisions. Making Gallas captain, was one of his biggest mistakes IMO and bringing in a player like Silvestre to cover in defence was hugely questionable and IMO has proven to be a big mistake.

I think Wenger has made some bad decisions like most managers, but has been quite unlucky. He has showed alot of faith in his players, especially the youngsters, I don't think any other manager has shown that much faith in young players since Ferguson with his bunch in the late nineties (just so happens his bunch turned out to be world beaters and ours aren't showing that at the moment).

Wenger wants to build a successful Arsenal, with young players that can play for us for years and have a connection with the club. IMO this can still happen with the current crop, just need a few reinforcements.

Wengers good decisions far outweigh his bad and has given Arsenal a great basis on which to build to become a real force. hopefully it won't be too much longer until they actually win something :PP
 
i hope someone breaks adebayors leg. that would be quality. still aint forgotten about his antics last year september. what a fucking cunt

It will be weird as I guess Toure and Viera will get good receptions (especially Viera) but Adebayor will be booed to within an inch of his life.

The thing with Adebayor is that will spur him on. So I think we will end up with egg on our faces.

With our team looking the way it does, I think we have a very good chance of losing against them....it pains me to say it.

hopefully Adebayor doesn't celebrate like he did before or try and break any of our players like last time.

also hopefully none of our players get sucked into it and do anything silly, otherwise it could end worse for us. Hopefully they channel their energy in putting 100% into the game.

That's what I want to see next season, still want Gallas in the defence, it worked
well at the start of the season with Verms but we need a fantastic backup because
of the injuries. Also prefer Gibbs instead of Clichy, he has more perspective in my
opinion. Hart will be hopefully the new keeper and Moussa Sissoko of Toulouse
the new DMF. He is a fantastic player, reminds me to Patrick Vieira in his better days.
And off course Robin rotating with Supernick as central forward and winger.
 
I can`t see Hart coming if City get CL opportunities he will be used for other games as a perfect back up for City`s depth department. Unless City plans are to get Buffon for their 2nd GK :LOL:
 
Yeah can't see Man City leetting go of Hart, they don't need the money and they won't want to strengthen a rival?
 
Hart is definitely not the keeper we need at the moment. Whilst he's been fantastic at Birmingham this season and has shown a level of bravery and determination almost unparalleled at his age, the central flaw with Hart is that his positional sense needs work and that he doesn't command his back-line well enough (which gets him into these situations where he has to put his head where it hurts). We've got enough miscommunication at Arsenal as it is.

What we need is a goalkeeper with real authority; someone who will command his area and bellow at the back-line to keep shape (How many times have we been caught out this season by a player we thought was offside?) and mark their man at set-pieces. We also need a keeper who gets in the right positions and who has a greater tendency to catch the ball rather than punch it away - or in Fabianski's case, place it on the opposing player's head. Lehmann and Seaman were perfect at doing exactly this so what we need is a carbon copy. A keeper who springs to mind, for me at least, is Manuel Neuer (There's no point saying Adler, I can't forsee us acquiring him ahead of every other big club).

We also need proper cover for our first choice back-line, Silvestre is simply not good enough - he's defensively naive and his lack of pace and nimbility is a chronic problem. This will be the hardest transfer as you have to find a player who is good enough to be similar defensively to Gallas and Vermaelen but who is content to sit on the bench every now and then. We were lucky that Campbell has played like he never left since returning, and I can forsee Djourou being a solid defender in the future but he hasn't really got the mental strength yet and I don't want to see the weight of expectation bog him down. I would love for us to pinch Marc Planus but I don't see that happening, nor do I see him being content with a non-starting position.

But one person we do need, above all else, is to have a coach who can teach Walcott how to cross properly and for another person to come in to smack Diaby around the head and tell him to snap out of his inconsistent form (He can do the same for Arshavin as well).

We need to lose both our next games and spurs needs to win all theirs for us to lose 3rd now. So that is good news......hopefully we can get some points in the next couple of games :))
 
think city were playing for the draw keeping it safe MOTM Sol me think he shows so much urgency it`s great and sad . Oh well we dont play until next Monday .Diaby holds the ball way too long whatever happen to the quick 1 touch footy :( everyone holds the ball ffs
 
i was watching the match and in the break i moved the channel and there was barca playing xerez. the styles are very similar but their players run a lot more and they pass the ball way quicker.
so there's two things AW needs to re-emphasise to his players
 
well 1 touch football changed and Fabregas is the culprit ever since he holds on the ball to control the tempo everyone does it now.Before Fab was the 1-touch ring leader when he had Rosicky-Fabregas- Flamini-Helb .

Next season it will go 2 schole : ) anyways Milner beats Fab yeah ....I remember fab coming off the bench and score 2 goals vs Villa, best season fab ever had and youngest to carry Arsenal as captain.Most assist in league but who cares they think by english winning award they'll win WC hahaha
 
article like that could be 1 dimensional, meaning if you concentrate on the mistakes you`ll find them. He has been great mind you he had to work w/ different partners and not as smart as gallas imo. It could get tricky... most would agree he was a superb buy.
 
Lets face it 3rd place is not bad at all but given injuries have yet again dictated the season and you have won nothing it's never going to look great...

It's a shame as it's the weakest Premier league for quite a while...

There's no doubt he's been a good signing but he's been overrated in some quarters of the media and fans because of his goal return.

Perhaps they've been lenient on him because it's his first season in the Prem but the costly errors he's made shouldn't be overlooked.

For all the Almunia/Fabianski/Silvestre bashing in here, Vermaelen's made his fair share of mistakes as well.
