Arsenal Thread

Regardless of your opinion on Ramsey and regardless of the opposition, he showed glimpses of intelligent play. Not talking about his goal, but his passing and controlling the tempo. He definitely improved playing alongside Arteta (don't know if it is just a coincidence).

And what about the through ball to Walcott in the 1st goal? That was spectacular.

On another note, what a week Koscielny has been having. Was on the receiving end of the dodgiest sending off you'll ever see, only to get a full force kung fu kick to the face days later.
Reports say there was a lot of bleeding, a very nasty cut and he was even hospitalised.

Fingers crossed it ain't nothing serious.

He's still 29 and can play almost anywhere, plus he's originally a DMF. He's training with Arsenal for the past few weeks and I don't see a reason why not sign him.
Just remember that Milan also released Pirlo! Go figure...

Anyways, good addition at 0.00 pounds cost. If that means we can pay over 40m for Karim Benzema, Lewandowski or some top striker, then I could live with that.

Yeah, he left Arsenal still very young, 23 I think. Milan has just released him, he was there all along. Never quite broke into the first team but I remember watching a couple of Serie A matches where he featured.

Well, the Arsenal XI is strong enough to beat the likes of Fulham, no doubt about it.
It is remarkable though that Lukas Podolski scored a brace yesterday, and he's been left to the bench as of late. Arsene Wenger isn't a fan of shots on goal, but what do ya know?? It results in some goals scored! Hoorray!

Let's see what he can do in terms of transfer business because, although this first team is decent, it won't last a full season without rotation.

Aaron Ramsey was fucking immense again. What a fucking joy to watch this guy play as he does after that leg break and all that shit he's been through. He's been a test to our patience last couple of seaons, but that's largely due to Wenger trying him out of position (even as a winger sometimes!)

But now he's doing quite alright, althouth Arteta will come back from injury at some point and claim back that role.

With Giroud scoring every game and Cazorla finding his form again, this team is getting interesting again, but we all know we need some quality signings really badly. Otherwise, it's a shout for 4th again at best.
 
Decent 3 pts. Cazorla was everywhere as usual. Ramsey has been doing everything Cazorla does :P . I haven`t see 1 touch football from Arsenal in a long time. It seem Rosicky still thinks he`s playing w/ Fabregas :)) Theo should of bury that amazing touch from Rosicky!
 
Wenger says he wants to sign 3 more players before the deadline. Now in the news we're linked with:

-Iker Casillas
-Julio Cesar
-Emiliano Viviano
-Ilkay Gundogan
-Yohan Cabaye
-Mesut Ozil
-Juan Mata
-Angel Di Maria
-Karim Benzema

Links to Benzema have been seriously played down recently. Honestly, any 3 of these players would be fantastic. A keeper, a center mid, and an offensive mid will most likely be Wenger's preference. Lukas Podolski leaving has been ruled out for this transfer window, and with Giroud in such great form, I feel like we might not sign a striker but rather a winger or an offensive mid like Mata or Ozil.
 
Benzema's manager has siaid that Benzema doesn't want to go to Arsenal and i don't see why Gundogan should leave Dortmund for Arsenal.

Big difference btw manager n agent gerd . All players should want to stay at RM. If, they value playing time is another issue. The manager rather have all players stay even to sit on the bench.
 
Gundogan has been great with Dortmund, but I'd suggest people wait and see if he keeps it up or not. Don't believe the hype and all that.
Furthermore, there's no way to guarantee he would flourish in the Premier League.

I'd be more than happy to have Flamini back to rotate with Ramsey and Arteta, and as an option of an even more defensive minded midfielder. Unless Wenger can produce a super defensive and physical midfielder out of his top hat, that is.

We do need one more striker, a keeper and a centre-half.

I think, after all that talk from Gazidis 3 months ago, the least they could do now is go in for Rooney. I don't see it happening, but when quizzed whether Arsenal could sign Wayne he said "Of course!". That and pay 200k a week wages and "even more". There was a whole lot of talking but no action so far.

So now Rooney reportedly wants to leave, they might as well go in for him. That's the least they should do now.
Plus Mourinho's been playing his mind games with Moyes and pissing him off, so if anything Moyes could end up selling Rooney to Arsenal instead of Chelsea. And let's face it, we aren't as strong as Chelsea, so that could be a possibility.

But this is obviously all conjecture and I don't see anything like that at all. We hear dissonant sounds at Arsenal - the Chief Executive says we're loaded with cash and are willing to splash; while the manager doesn't spend it and come up with excuses (there aren't special players available, we need what's better than what we have, blah blah)... Well, what about Rooney? He's there. We already bid 40m pounds this summer on Suarez. Why not pursue players of a similar calibre (and price tag)?

It almost looks as though he bid for Suarez only to appease fans and show intent. Now all that is behind and we're back to boring bids of 10m for the likes of Cabaye :YAWN:

Paradise island huh? Looks like you had a good start to the season. Arsenal, on the other hand, lost 3-1 to Villa at home :P

That aside, it was a sigh of relief winning the two following encounters, and especially Fener by such a good margin. Today we just need to turn up and the CL spot is ours.
 
Ah, btw Arsenal now are rumoured to be interested in Toby Alderweireld - yet another Belgian defender from Ajax.
Don't know much about him but this sounds good to complete our set of CBs. May be just what we need - not a star CB who will demand first team football immediately, but an up and comer.

At the moment there are different reports regarding Alderweireld. Two well informed papers are saying different things. One says we do want him, along with Atlético Madrid, but the other paper is saying that only Atlético are interested in him. I wouldn't mind him at Arsenal. Solid, versatile defender.
 
He is a poor man's Vertonghen. Arsenal already have a better Belgian defender.
Atletico was not prepared the price Ajax asked.
 
Once again what a performance by Ramsey! Play the boy as a midfielder and there you go. Let's hope Wenger stops his crazy experiments with him.

He's been a box to box type of midfielder in this role. That 2nd goal was exquisite, what a great finish!

PS: two celebrities to die in the next few days. I'm glad I'm not famous :D
