Arsenal Thread

Well that was a Super Shit display, really depressing.

Why are we so shit whenever we play a good team away from home?!
 
You can`t play that system and use Ozil out wide. We weren`t as bad we just couldn`t finish our chances. They were very impressive !
 
I thought we were very bad, kept misplacing passes etc No one played well.

But I do agree they were great, pressing for the whole game and the pace upfront, we just couldn't compete....but we should have.

The Ozil thing, Arseblog showed a heat map for his last couple of games, although in the formation he is put on the left, if you look at the map, he roams around and spends more time in central positions, so he is given a roaming role by the looks of it.
 
I'm starting to think that Özil might turn out to be a player like Reyes or Arshavin...
I wonder if those players don't fail because Wenger is a tactical enigma to them ?
 
When he first started he played really well for the first 7 or so games, so I am not so sure it is tactical problems.

Also as I said although in the formation sheet he is on the left position, his actual positioning in the match varies across the middle just outside the box, which is the position he excels at.

I don't think he is playing that bad, his demeanour while playing goes against him as he looks like he is strolling about and not really caring. But his game is all about subtleties and effortlessness. Of course as been mentioned before it isn't great in the Premierleague, because if you are not making a blatant tangible difference and you look like you are strolling around, it goes against you big time.

His price is a weight around his neck and the fact that Arsenal as a team hasn't really clicked yet is another reason his game isn't great at the moment.

I am sure he will come good soon.
 
Sanchez/ Ozil / Ramsey all roam around. They were off their game it may had to do w/ the match at the weekend. Arteta was the worst player for me. Wenger is guilty of forcing players to play this ' all position football' not everyone can do. Welbz had a shocker but he's needs games to get sharper as the lone man.

Let's get a result on the weekend!
 
We have had this problem for a few seasons now, away games at good teams, we bottle it and play rubbish.

It is a collective thing that needs to be resolved ASAP. Not only for Champs league but also for the Prem.

I think he just hasn't the personality nor the mentality to be the player Arsenal wants him to be. It's actually the same on our national team: In the qualifiers against weaker sides, when everything around him clicks, he can be a joy to watch, but when the going gets tough, he is nowhere to be seen. Just useless. The WC is the most recent example here, where everyone in Germany wanted him to be dropped, which pretty sure would have happened with Reus on board...

Amazing talent that lacks everything else that a great player needs.

I personally thought he got a rough ride in the WC, the games I saw, I thought he played pretty well (Nothing amazing), then I read comments and opinions of people wanting him to be dropped and I really didn't understand.
 
Germans are strange folks to me anyways they love Podi for his personality more then his game. Strange folks dislike Per too! They won the WC we won the FACup w/ Ozil. It's contributing to the squad not individuality .
 
So the rough start continues...

Hate to say I told you so, but...

Every one and their grandmother knew that our defensive cover was too weak. And 2-3 weeks into the season, the 'feared' worst case scenario has been realized and the weakness exposed. Poor planning by Wenger. Luckily, the group is quite easy with Galatasaray having a crappy season, so more than likely Arsenal will still manage 2nd place with ease.

I wrote multiple times saying we should get a true striker up top to compete with Giroud. Now even he's out and our hopes are on last dayline transfer who was only a rotation player at a weak Man U. Not to write off Welbeck altogether, he can be a good transfer. But tactically, it's not right to put all this pressure and all our offensive hopes on him.
 
The problem with Ozil is that he's a playmaker who needs to be fed in order to feed others. He's not like Fabregas and Silva who create but also dictate and knit the whole team together.
If Ozil isn't being given the ball in dangerous areas he's pretty useless, that's why he should be played dead centre so that he can receive the ball from all sides and be more involved.
He might roam but his teammates need to always know whereabouts he is in order to give him the ball quickly and unmarked.
 
They also dislike Joachim Löw...

Flamini and Arteta aren't good enough. Arsenal lack a (better than) decent DMF imo.

They need a Nianggolan type of player (De Jongh, but i don't like him very much, although he has his moments).

I wonder how Anderlecht will fare against Arsenal. When i first knew they were in this group, i was certain they wouldn't get a single point and would loose all their matches with large margins.

Yesterday however, they surprised me. Galatasaray equalised in the 92th minute and they didn't deserve the draw. Of course Anderlecht had at least enough chances to score 3 goals but missed them and that is also a lack of quality, but i liked how they played against Galatasaray and this with loads of players under 25 years old and with at least 3 teenagers...Tielemans is only 17 years old (almost 18), but he is a certainty in the team.

I know both Arsenal and Dortmund are much stronger than Galatasaray, but Anderlecht impressed me...of course this could well be a one off...let's hope both Dortmund and Arsenal underestimate this team (but this is a very stupid post then...).

Most of our defence was first choice though last night apart from Bellerin? So it shouldn't have been a problem.

It isn't the worst case scenario yet, that would be Koscielny and Merts getting injured :-O
 
Godotelli spot on ! And gerd cheers for you insight it's appreciated regardless th outcome of the group. Liverpool must of struggle I heard to a club I never knew of its existent . Nothing is written in stone for knockout group Atletíco losing :SHOCKER:
 
Probably worth noting that you need to pick your battles. That Dortmund team is built like a blueprint of how to beat Arsenal. Bit like when Fergie had your number the last 4 years of his tenure.

Not all teams will be made like that. The combination of effective high pressure up the pitch, lightning quick counters and a tendency to immediately look forward with passes to the strikers - that's rare.

Arsenal should be fine to get out of the group, then who knows.

It is the only thing that Arsene fucked up in this transfer period, selling 3 center backs and not replacing them has left us very vulnerable, when most other areas of the pitch look substancial.

Gibbs will get injured again and One of Merts or Kos will definitely get an injury for a few weeks and then we are fooked!

Hopefully our attack will gel and get more goals than we let in at that point ;))
 
I just read a headline today saying Monreal is out too with a back injury.
Well, now that's finally it: we are one injury away from having to use youth product (such as Bellerin).

Should something happen to Gibbs, we better start thinking about playing Ospina as left back. Is he left footed? :COAT:

I can't recall a League Cup quarter without Arsenal or United. Bizarre, we were always the two best at having great young/potential teams out there playing well in this competition.
