Eventually, people are gonna realise that joining Chelsea isnt as great as it looks. So then no one is gonna want to join them.
This also probably explains why players are snubbing them.

But dont talk about this when Sulph is around cuz he'll go mental.
 
Hahhaha Rune, lets not start this again. Its not why the players are snubbing us, hell its not only the players that are snubbing us, their clubs don't want to sell. Its because they are top class players. Chelsea could sign all the averagely good players if they wanted but whats the point if they do not improve anything. E.g Liverpool just signed Sissoko, Chelsea could sign him, but whats the point? He wouldnt have snubbed us. And the players that you say did snub us, would snub Arsenal, Utd, Liverpool and every other team man.

How many strikers? Vieri, Tommasson, Sheva, Inzhaghi, Gilardino.

Why buy a great striker when one already has so many good ones?

The fact is, we dont know if those players would have snubbed all the other teams you mentioned cuz it hasnt happened. But if Chelsea came in for a player and the team turned them down, like Essien for example, I'm sure the player would have come out and said "Hey. This is unfair cuz I want to move." This hasnt actually happened but when Man Utd signed their players, the players insist on moving which is why they do. For example Saha moved against Fulham's will and Rooney's price dropped by £20million because Rooney insisted on the move and made clear that theres no chance in hell that he was gonna stay at Everton.

Now Chelsea have just been linked with a £80+million move for Ronaldinho which proves to me that money isnt the issue when buying players. The players themselves arent showing a serious desire to come to Stamford Bridge.

The only person who has is John Obi Mikel who's too young and stupid that he would sign any document thats put in front of him as long as they wave some cash in his face.

Real Madrid only have Ronaldo, Raul and Owen yet Owen is still upset with being third. The only reason why it would work at some teams is because people like Tommasson can accept that he has to sit on the bench.

Do you actually think someone like SWP would be happy to sit on Chelsea's bench?
 
Joe Cole is one of the better ones. Most improved player for me in Chelsea's side last season.
 
If SWP comes that is, I dont mind seeing him leave, hes a player that deserves first team football every game.

If someone told me that Man Utd were selling Alan Smith, I'd go mental. Sometimes you have to look beyond the player's talent and look at how much he means to the club and how much the club means to him. Just like Gerrard for Liverpool cuz it was more than just about his ability on the pitch.
 
Real wingers=Robben, Duff
Eidur is a usefull backup for striker and the sides.
Cole is best suited at covering for lampard, and of course both can play at the same time.

So SWP can fit in easily.
 
First of all, Cole is at his best when playing on the wing cuz he only started peforming well when he was covering Robben's position.
And you dont understand the point. I'm not saying SWP wont fit in. I'm saying that if he comes in someone else will have to go and its unfair on whoever that is. Robben, Cole, Eidur and Duff have all played really well and replacing any of them isnt a priority. Getting a striker is whats needed.
And I'm saying that replacing players so easily is showing a lack of loyalty. We had Giggs for so many years and there have been many wingers that are arguably better than him at the time. But you wont see Man Utd trying to sign those players because its a waste of money. If you already have someone that can do the job, then whats the point.

Or a better way to put it is that if you win 1-0 or 5-0, you still get 3 points in the league. If you win 1-0 with Joe Cole in the team, why bother trying to win 5-0 with SWP in the team?

Im not really being disloyal. I know he is a good player, in fact I want him to leave for the good of his career as he could walk into the first team of any club outside the top 3/4. Yeah and your right, its not a big difference that SWP could add but it still raises the teams overall quality.

I wish I was in HK. The stuff there is cheap as hell compared to how it costs here in the UK.

Anyway, its a fair point to say it increased the overall quality but I dont like the idea if its not needed and its gonna hurt the player's career by sitting on the bench when he could have joined another club.
 
A. Wenger as been crying that they can't buy any players b4 chelsea finish their transfers. One other thing he said, and I said here b4, is that for chelsea the players have a different price if it were for any other team.
This guy never stops complaining about chelsea's money.

But he his a smart man, deviating attention from their supposed illegal Batista approach. I sure would be embarrased after the Cole incident.

With Crespo returning, i think Chelsea will only buy a midfielder - someone to cover for/alternate with Makelele. I think Chelsea have surprised many with their minimal transfer buying (they've made more than they spent so far). Look at Líverpõol instead, who are acquiring loads of players. Benitez says he wants 3 more too! They'll have plenty of benched players next season.

Not that I disagree Sulph, but if you purely by what players are 'told' to say, then we'd have to believe that Crespo is thrilled at the prospect of returning to stamford bridge, a move he's vehmently fought for the past year, and repeatedly said how he hated english football and wished to see out days in Milan. But Chelsea didn't really care about that did they.

Now he's all smiles and excited to be back. Right...

Still can't blame Essien. Its not like United have officially done shit all. No one but themselves to blame. Pity, as around feb he really seemed to like United, like growing up and being a fan, which would have been fantastic. Still I wish him the best, unless he's playing against us ;)

OK. First of all lets look at the point you're trying to make.
  • You think the clubs are rejecting Chelsea, not the player
  • You think Essien really wants to join Chelsea
  • Lyon are asking for too much
  • You're right because Milanista is on your side ( :roll: )
That is basically the base of your arguement. All I can say to that is bullshit.

First of all, clubs always reject bids for their star players, theres no denying that. But that doesnt stop a team from purchasing that player if the player wants to join. Fulham didnt want to let go of Louis Saha but Saha threaten to leave for free when his contract runs out because he was so desperate to join Man Utd. If Essien was as serious as bbc.com make him out to be, Lyon would have no choice but to let him leave for a price rather than for free. If Essien is not willing to do a "Sol Campbell", you have to start questioning how serious is he about a move to Chelsea.

Secondly, you posted an interview from Essien saying he wants to join Chelsea. Firstly, you have to remember that not everything you read is true. And another thing you need to do is stop only believing stories that back up your arguement. If you're gonna believe the speculation, lets look at ALL of the stories, shall we?

The guy is saying something different all the time so you cant believe everything you read. And Lyon have made it clear that they dont want Essien to leave so if he DID join Chelsea or Man Utd, it'll also prove my point that a club cant hold back a player from joining another team if he's desperate to leave.
Which then proves my main point which is that after attempting to buy for nearly 20 players, none of them moved cuz they dont want to come to Stamford Bridge. If anyone does, and thats if he does cuz no one knows the truth, its Essien. But IMO, he'd prefer Man Utd because he has idolised players like Beckham and Cantona for years and its been his dream to play for us. The Chelsea move is just about the money.

Another point you made was that Lyon are asking too much money. Thats no excuse. Firstly, Chelsea have loads of cash to throw around. If they wanted Essien so bad, why not just pay the asking price? Oh yeah, I just remembered, you have to convince the PLAYER too. And secondly, putting on a big price tag is just a way of fighting off bids. If Essien does leave, he'd probably go for less that the asking price. Rooney's price tag was originally £50million and Everton said that he's not going for anything less. How much did Man Utd pay? We only paid £10million up front and promised another £10million next season with maybe another £10million depending on performance and appearences. Everton lost atleast £20million. When Alan Smith was about to join Man Utd, his price tag was about £12million but we got him for £7million. PSV at one point said they want over £10million for Ji-Sung Park but we got him eventually for £4million.
Cant you see that the price tag is only there to frighten people? If Chelsea wanted to buy those players, they'd get them cheaper but the problem is that player himself isnt serious about the move.

So for the last time, open your eyes, read my post properly and give me a REAL reason why you're right.

All of that is fair, and I'd love to see him at United. But he's still going to be playing at Chelsea next year, regardless of his boyhood idols. Just the way it goes.

And from that interview he doesn't sound like he's against the idea of joining Chelsea does it? His agent isn't stupid, say you like team x, then team y, then they'll both bid on you. Hopefully that'll increase the overall bid, and agent makes more money. Oh and the player might too.

All of that said though, I do think Chelsea are reaching critical mass. Only the very best players will want to sign, those that are 100% of a starting place. If I were SWP I'd be concerned, cause is he really better than both Duff and Robben? I realise he's right footed, but that doesn't really matter. Its one thing to be a part of the best team in the league, its another to be a bit part of the best team in the league.
 
That also one of the reasons that I mentioned a while back.
Why would someone join Chelsea if they know they wont be in the first team? And even if they were, how long are they gonna last? If someone better comes along next season, you're outta there.
