Hey, ex 5th league German defender here.

You can perfectly translate all your real life defending knowledge into this game. Even better than in v0.9.0 and v0.9.1:

My last 9 opponents quit because they got 0 shots on my goal and 0 chances. Everyone saying "Defending is hard" - Yes, it is! You need to play like in real life!

I am for one really happy regarding player controls. You never had so much freedom:
Just blocking the ball and let it go out of play/to you keeper? Yes! Shoulder charge a sprinting player? Yes! Match-up with the speed of the attacker and waiting for their next touch to then speed up and get the ball? Yes! Easily anticipating ping pong passers with interception/match-up? Yes! Waiting for the defender to rush you, then sharp touch into free space? Yes! Controling the speed of the match on attacking and defending side? Yes!

But still I don't like the ball physics system. Also the Tsubasa shots are way too strong.
What tactic, teamplay style are you using?

I play long ball counter and basically play like an underdog team. Since 99% of people can only score when they can counter attack, the best way to play is currently to always keep your defensive structure in tact. Never break your last defending line! When the ball comes to the striker who is between your defending line and midfield - that's when you sandwich them with pressure from both sides and they become trapped.

This is exactly how I play:

Cool. But they've lost to pep's possession gameplay. So i prefer the pep's

Konami gave out extended bonuses for people who completed challenges before the patch update.
Cant remember doing any challenges. Some legend bonus came up, wich was huge. As far as I remember 500k, plus some minor login stuff…
so many credits at the start… but no game for me to spent it in… it’s crazy!

Happy Easter weekend y’all! 🐇 🥚

I love the RPG elements of the Dream Team mode. You can win Exp points and invest it on improving players skills so two users can have the same player but with different progressions. It's also important to buy a coach that suits your Team Playstyle and boosts the Exp points won by your players on every match.FQZizi3WUAQi_ee.jpeg

I really like the idea of it, have to say.

What I don't like is that, today, every match I play is against Galácticos. So already, for me, playing online is fairly pointless, with my fairly average team that I'd like to build up slowly instead (and not spend money on)...

EDIT: Also, am I missing something or is there no point in having more than 11 players? No fatigue, no injuries...

Do we only have space for 500 players to play in "special events" where e.g. you can only pick players of a certain nation? Which, to me, is the most arcadey, pointless state of affairs. But again, it would be further confirmation of the total FUTification of PES (and that there is literally no hope of a football game ever being about actual football and the strategy involved in football management ever again - just special events that might require you to buy lots of new players to join in).

They definitely should think about some competitions, tournaments and so on where there is a limit on certain players or player strength. This would make it interesting, for example only one Legend, only one Player over 90 and so on.

Thing is they probably won't use the potential of their idea sadly.

Imagine an Online Master League you can play with friends where you have this RPG progression and playstyles. That could be fun.

But that is the topic with PES sadly, so much potential unused.

My player's rating dropped significantly is it because my team playstyle is too low(64)? Or is it related to formation or tactic?

Yeah, that’s the perfect title of the book or documentary that will uncover the mess of the last years. 😂

“Potential Unused - how pachinko took over football”

So there's a "meta" online already, right? Judging by all my games today. (Look at me using FUT terms like I'm some kind of YouTuber.)

Perform instant first-time passes and the UNBELIEVABLE amount of lag means there's no opportunity for the opponent to win the ball back. There is zero error in the passing on default controls (and why would any online player choose to handicap themselves).

Then, simply pass from one side of the goal to the other and shoot first-time, because that (I repeat) UNBELIEVABLE amount of lag means the keeper will still be stood at the opposite post by the time you kick the ball into an empty net, watching on in disbelief.

THE KING IS BACK, BABAYYY!!! :KING: Next-gen lag!

How the lag even applies to AI-controlled players just boggles my mind - and it's what leads to the keepers and defenders often running straight past the ball to the spot where the ball USED to be a second before.

There are certain things that have been in PES forever and carry on year after year even when they "build it from scratch" - the netcode being one of them.

There have been so many complaints about lag down the years that it's clearly something they can't improve without actually building a new game from scratch.

That and having to play against David Beckham, Romario etc. every game just renders online play pointless for me.

Oh, also - random one, this...

Has anyone else noticed yet that the English commentators have re-recorded some (or all) of their lines? I'm fairly sure, anyway.

Listen out for "that's a carbon copy of an earlier miss" etc... They're not the same clips as before, they have different tones and less/more emphasis. Both commentators.

If they've got them back in the studio to record the exact same lines we're sick of, because they think WE think that the problem with the commentary was their tone of voice... That would be hilarious!

Vieira could be best MF in the game. He is on another level, he is everywhere in the midfield and he keeps intercepting the ball all the time. He is also way too strong and win almost every battle. I played more than 30 games online and didn't lose once with him.

Maybe your coach don't suit "Possession game" playstyle. You can buy a coach with better "Possession Game" numbers and your player's rating will increase. You can also invest Exp points in training your players to adapt them to your playstyle.

This is the problem now on Dream Team mode, there are players like me that have played about 400 or 500 matches since november and have received about 2 or 3.000.000 GP and a lot of Legends and players that didn't like v.0.9.1 and start playing eFootball on v.1.0.0.

its not lag bro, its just scripting/handicap momentum etc

my first day the game felt good and playable

second day playing even the challange against AI was ridiculous and a fight against the game

just like pes 19 20 21

thats the way they implement difficulty, and in online the handicap seems to work just turning your players into the easier difficulty ones

The gameplay is good. Ai is improved over the previous games. Its pretty basic tactic wise, wich is good. Now they can implement some on this base. Previous games were pretty overloaded and causes big ai problems! The speed of the game is great too, even if the players feels a bit to heavy for my taste... If you imagine that they tweaked the game in such a short time since September, I am pretty sure they can do some great things in the future. Unreal engine is probably much more easy to handle.
Its no more pes yet. Its something new and we should except it.
Btw. stunning shots is the nicest feature in the past few years, u are able to create some beautiful situations.

Just my two cents
Greetz

Honestly, i love this more with every match. Finally we got events under Dream Team and be able to play such as a Spanish League vs the AI for a week and earn GP. And i guess more similar to come. And with such a great AI we have now (especially on Legend) its a pure joy that i finally can play again football in a video game and build my own team in it. This is Master League Online and it has a grind to it if you dont apply pay to win. And what a grind because GP doesnt really come that easily (unless its a "sorry from the Admin" :LMAO: whatever that is), and player contracts last only 365 days so you better be ready with some GP by the end of the year to renew those contracts. Also players gain XP and you can level them up but i guess never lose them really just arent able to play for the team if you dont sign them again at the end of the contract.

And the gameplay is great, the AI is soooo varied im gonna cry really, you cant predict what it does, unless you open up areas in your defence, of course it will go for those. I see long goals, one-twos, crosses, through passes, dribbles, runs, penalties....and oh the physicality system is the best ever in any football game. As for the player ID, damn i can feel the only great player now in my team is the upgraded 83 rated Umtiti. He can match up with anyone in the game, he is strong, has amazing interceptions and always in good position. However as for the rest of the Barca youngsters, you can feel they are good and they can do some magic here and there but if they meet a top 10 team spanish team, they can easily be pushovers on the pitch, especially after 60 mins. Oh and yeah, Adama is great. He is fast and strong but thats it, other than that he is useless. Like in real life. Pure perfection.

Im gonna raise my bet. This is not the best PES since 2013 but the best since PES 6. This game is so back to the basics, so rigid, so simple, so automated that it is a fun to play...like an old PES. Recent PES games wanted to be so convoluted with 10 different tactical layers and such that on the pitch nothing really happened and the AI did the same 3 moves with every player..pass...turn...shoot. They were broken. Just praise the lord they dont mess up the gameplay because im gonna say it, the King Is Back. For me. No jokes, i already gave up on football games in the past 2-3 years, they were so empty. This one got a soul.

Now. One. More. Game.

ps -1: only thing we need is edit mode now to add those kits and club emblems and coach names
ps -2: can this be played online as coop yet or not?

To be absolute fair. Direct free kicks are still way too easy to my liking, also the over the top give and go down in the middle....i wouldnt say its 100% goal but it is easy to abuse especially with good strikers. You really need to pay attention to your defensive line....but imo over the top through passes shouldnt be that easy to perform so accurately.

And yes the game lacks content and it looks absolute pants on PC, last gen...worse than PES2021 which is crazy. Efootball is very poorly optimized.

Where are you located? Are you sure it's not your internet? It's 100% dedicated servers now, so when the next server center is located far away (or maybe your continent doesn't have its own), then this could be why you have lag. Since v1.0. I am back at 5 bars connection strength and it plays just like offline. The same with all streamers from my country.

I'm 100% certain it's not my 150mb/s, sub-10 ping, fibre-to-the-property internet, when I'm based around the Liverpool area and faced players with UK in their name (one of whom was a Liverpool fan, but could live anywhere in fairness).

Every game I've played today has been the same. If you play offline, then play online, and you can't see the lag and the huge holes players leave because they're running to where they should have been a second before... I don't know what to say to you.

looks like im a quitter haha, maybe next time! either op team or 1-2 spammer thats my excuse. Once you figure out defending is really it a league above anything in that sense for me.

Yep this was also part of my review, and not just once this happens, you can exploit it heavily everytime when in such situations.
There are millions of problems with the gameplay after playing for hours the past couple of days.

Also for online play, It really depends on who is the host in this pseudo Peer 2 Peer system on how the gameplay reacts aswell. Not that I have any problems anyway, but when not the ''host'' even though your buttons are still as responsive as they are, the players on the pitch really have a harder time knowing where the ball is. Allthough im used to adapting to the lag, its a fun way of seeing a different kind of lag, and it is better then the button delay lag on the last generation PES games I guess, but it makes this already flawed simplified gameplay even more wonky and funny to look at.

And I still think putting a timing game on a Trigger button is the worst thing i've seen in terms of button layout. I never ever saw a timing game on an analog trigger button. The stunning modifier therefore doesnt work half the time for me on PC, It depends a bit on the controller, how my travel is set of my trigger. Losing a lot of freedom there.

Its hilarious when animations kick in randomly where they shouldnt aswell, or seeing how on rails this game is when the nicely railed connection from player to ball gets broken and the game is pinging the player to re-allocate the ball making some players go into overdrive sliding into the same animation 5 times in a row. Cant even super cancel to the ball as a loose entity to override the game... as it is that much on rails.

Oh and the shooting....Man... Having 7-0 games online in event mode one after another today and not a single goal feels nice. Trajectories are bland, the wind up of a shot feels fabricated. The normal quick shooting while you dont even have your body in the right balance or in place feels laser targeted.

The game has an extreme amount of extra video game sauce on it, not a sim in my book and what i expect of a football to the simulation side. Having more fun ''off the pitch'' myself, and taking on the pitch for what is is. You get some video game mechanics to emulate football a bit on the basic side, you can pass around and the inner workings of marking and all that jazz is in. But without ball simulations or even player momentum, foot planting, inertia

All in all, it feels super simplified. It does make for a better videogame for casual audience as well. But the little details I love about pes, The joy of shooting PES5 gave me while i was full on into FIFA 2006 was a world of difference and kept making the difference... That... Is non existent at this moment.

Maybe I will not get the type of football depth I want simulated back for a while in the football gaming scape with UFL and GOALS coming out aswell looking to do the same ultimate team-y thing. They all seem to want to emulate the same space of type of game.

To me this aint 1.0, this is 0.1. Because atleast, the basics work.... And thats nice for a Live Service game like Forntnite, Rocket League, Warzone etc which puts updates out every month. But will Konami? Lets hope!

It's like some people play completely different games. Is that legend difficulty? What was the keeper's reflex values?

I only know this from PES21, you can just run full speed around the keeper and he won't change his trajectory.

In eFootball for me you need to make a fake shot OR sharp touch at the right moment to fool the keeper. Else the trajectory is perfectly adjusted. I even had Kahn go full berserk and super human like blocked my lop.

I just spent 20mins trying to recreate this issue in training mode on superstar difficulty so I can send it to Konami. 20/20 times Mendy successfully adjusted his trajectory. So not sure, what's the issue here. Someone can reproduce this bug?

EDIT: Tried Allison as well and also worked 20/20 times.
