I'd play it if it had a Master League or just regular tournament option. I just can't play online with this dumb card crap. At least we have a decent(ish) engine to build on now which we were severely lacking for the first two years.

Agreed, FUMA is the only option if you want to play freely and play purely on ability.

I agree with you, I still dabble now again, however I’d recommend the myleague mode if you want offline play. I play that now and again, easy to create an authentic team with the amount of free GP you get.

This is the thing. when I really need a fix I play 1 or 2 games but before I can begin to start enjoying the game again and getting used to mechanics etc, i'm bored. And that's not because of the gameplay, just that I have nothing to play for and the same boring teams.

It really is the lack of modes that kills it. I do play My league from time to time but no transfers and basically having no real football world to play in kills it.

It does seem that for Career Mode experiences if you want to play the team yourself there is only one option.

UFL and Goals will just copy Ultimate Team and seeing 2ks recent output I don't put much faith in them: NBA games have glaring gameplay problems they ignore while monetization is getting crazier and crazier, Top Spin being a copy and paste from an old game with a shallow Always Online Career mode that in the beginning also tried to push monetization and seeing what they did with having the NFL license again and just doing a bad mobile game, yeah not much faith in them.

I do like efootballs gameplay and have engaging matches but it is just so shallow and it is weird because there is so much potential if they wanted to bring in a Master League.

I've now played manual passing for about 1.5 months and the game is the most realistic football simulation with it. All problems are instantly gone.
Ping pong passing? Takes a lot of skill. Pass speed is actually important. Dribbling and build up is a lot more important as well. Spamming through balls is impossible. Lofted through passes are actually working. Passes that aren't even possible but you see them in every real life match are suddenly normal. Passes are never glitching through opponents.

What most players don't know: "Manual" passing is NOT manual.

The standard pass becomes assisted pass: It takes into account passing attribute and curl attribute of your player completely. Having players with 99 passing and having a player with 80 passing (same for curl) makes a huge difference. When you aim at open space, the pass and curl attribute decide how well the pass will then bend to the player nearby avoiding opponents.

The through ball pass becomes true manual pass: On the other hand the trough ball pass is truly manual and will do exactly as you put the power and direction. I only ever use it 1% of the match. You can do all types of passes with the standard one.

The only thing missing for the true simulation feel for me is advanced shooting from PES because manual shooting you can't do finesse shots. Advanced shooting was the best with perfect control of power and aiming.

I see FUMA has finally landed in the German 5th Division then. Have to laugh a bit at this explainer (from someone playing for 6 weeks) in a thread where many participants have been playing manual for years and years, well before the demo-like experience of eFootball came to be 😂

Incidentally, that's always a debated topic (the extent to which attributes are taken into account). I wouldn't confidently pronounce on that ("takes into account...completely") lol. But it's for this reason that many FUMA purists only use Triangle to play (vs., e.g., your 1%).

I had my annual check of football games. Or should I say - game. Coz IMHO there is only one game currently on the market that is at least trying to recreate football.
And as sad and pathetic as it sounds - it's free2play, live service €Football..

I'm playing this game in a specific way - I don't buy any players, I play with the default team and if I ever buy anybody - they won't be over 75OVR white ball or however the fuck they are called there. So I play with Defaults and on FUMA. And my team is called FUMA D-Faults FC.

So I came back and was surprised to hear same songs I heard few years back when it was released. Thought live service games like this will have some seasons and different colour pattern and music and stuff..
Anyhoo - not to worry - I decided to check Master League. They surely must have released it by now. Haha! Yeah right.

Either my memory is faulty, or they added a league against AI where you can play full season and they added all the difficulties and time settings to the matches against AI, which is nice. Almost felt loved there for a second.

I suppose the good thing is that the game itself hasn't changed. It's still a solid football game with a nice pace and good feel on the ball. I was afraid that at this stage I will see jetpacks and glowing power shoes. But it flows nicely.
Matchmaking was fairly fast, there was no lags, matches were smooth and I won 3 out of 3 matches on manual with my Kirks and Hickeys against Haalands and Mbappes.
What's not to love?

I speak from my experience: most of the players don't care to play football, even not to defend. They just scatter through balls waiting for one to succed; or, worst, for a corner kick to be given and then play "the trick" and score.

I'm not saying eFootball is the best recreation of football ever made. It's far from it. But it's the best of what we have in 2024. That's why I said in my first post that it's sad and pathetic that this is the state of things

What’s more he played, and still does despite his age, the real thing and, knows much more about real football than I’ll ever know…. But he canny beat me in 30+ years of trying.

So having a great team on paper isn’t going to help if you can’t control the one player you need to when you have the ball.

It's actually incredible they don't add offline league and edit. Even without ML. It can't be difficult with the existing experience and content they have to add it. In the most basic form it would make this game infinitely more playable.

Efootball is just Pes Lite they won't release an offline mode because there's no money to be made. I wouldn't be surprised if my league was their new version of master league and that's basically all we will get.

I can't accept this. There's no money to be lost either, there is only benefit to doing it. From a development perspective, how long would it take given the already have the foundation of it from previous games? 2-3 sprints? I mean Konami have proven to be morons for a long time just look at their weird feud with Kojima and them cancelling Silent Hills despite the popularity of the demo. The sad truth is that micro transactions ruined sports games why offer you an offline mode for 10 pounds when there's some kid with his mom's credit card spending hundreds every Friday to get shiny cards. These companies don't really care about feedback as long as the money keeps rolling in.

It's shocking how good PES2021 and the ball physics were. efootball feels like a scripted, automated mess on rails without deep gameplay.

PES2021 had his flaws but it feels sooo much more like football than efooball does since day 1, have no hope for V4.0

Not if they had the most basic of edit mode. I'm talking kit colours and names. If they can reuse some old templates, great. But all the player names are in the game if you play my league.

To be clear i'm not even talking ML, that does take resource and building that badly would be detrimental. An offline league is a no brainer and a win win.

Basically 2k admitting that without licenses making a game is hard and I think that is part of the reality of the market: even if you make a game with the Fifpro license which covers a lot of the team compositions (see Konamis English League in the past) the major base of players who buy football games want the full experience of Premier League, La Liga and so on and don't want to temper with downloads, mods etc.

And thinking of 2K and Take two since they have shares and investors behind them: doing what Konami did with PES and achieving these sales would not be enough for Take Two and be seen as failing.

My hope is that UFL (even though I think it's bad) gets Konami to do more.

The problem is sales even with edits. look at PES sales compared to Fifa. That is the power of licenses.

Even with all the edit tools a lot of people are not big fans of having to download features. There is also a reason why PES never offered downloads in game but went through USB sticks for consoles: licensing for football is very different than for other games and even if you offer downloading teams through a server it gets you very quickly in trouble with groups like the DFL.

So players most likely would have to go through having to download from a website. Which immediately diminishes your player base.

And that then gets to expectations from Take Two and their investors.

I honestly only see 2k going into the market if they can grab some licenses. Anything else would.just not be feasible for them. If they would make the sales of PES from the last few years that wouldn't be what investors and so on would be expecting from them going in the football market.

And yes you can say copyright issues if these are on servers you offer and real world stuff is created with them and then it depends where you are being sued. Just ask all the editing teams who in the past have gotten letters from DFL or game makers who had to take German teams with Fake names and players out of their games.

And that's the big difference to wrestling games, tennis games etc who offer these features, which is one of the reasons Konami never offered to download teams directly.

I would love to see a game with more options to create, I just feel it might not happen from someone like 2K
