eFootball (All Platforms)

Aussiepesfan, I feel I go much more along your kind of feedback towards gameplay. However, I have only exclusively played vs AI. Yes, improvements are incrementally on the positive range. It's a shame I can only pray and hope for a return of ML after the disappointment of pay-for-lives sprint "excuse" of an event.

There is no ignoring the financial aspect the developers are banking on, the mobile landscape, the P2W pursuit to build the ultimate/dream team house of cards, and as well the growing eSports interest. Should all those avenues be jampacked saturated, could an offline mode even co-exist nowadays? Would it be a welcome feature to bring back edit mode and have a traditional campaign mode such as the golden Master League? I'm sorry no a ML campaign would be lost without an online component, because of the new wave of fans, streaming, and social media.

P.S. I make no mention of Smart-Assist and new Smart feints/dribbles because it's the uncontested assistance, we are not sure what to make of.

I can see that, but I think I’m not a huge fan of the core animations when players are running and dribbling. There’s also a lack of variety and unique animations for different players.

For the ball physics, there’s a variety I think based on which mods you use, there are some mods that really free things up.

Out of interest, which difficult do you ply efootball on?
This is interesting, I actually thing overall the animations look good and much more natural than EAFC. There are some clunky ones and keeper broadly still look terrible but i often see lovely little animations for players with certain skill levels etc. like a unique turning animation, or outside of the boot pass. It's these organic animations that make the game feel like PES for me.

The actual presentation and graphics are shite though, but i think they weren't people would see the animations differently. IE if it was running higher FPS and the LOD was much higher.

I agree with you. I think in EAFC there are so many awesome animations, but the use of them and linking is massively sacrificed due to their desire to make it hyper responsive at the detriment of realism. I also have a personal issue with the player models, they don't look right, although perhaps that's to do with kit fit.

eFootball does have good animations, and really nice touches, but from what I've found, so many of them were in PES 2021, and the modders have managed to bring them to the fore.

For those who enjoy eFootball, be interesting to know what difficult you're playing on. I know it fluctuates from patch to patch, but when I play on Legend just feels like I cannot do anything - any lower and it becomes very easy.

I've switched to legend difficulty recently. it's not easy. Match is so tight and compact. Just be patient and the gap will appear.

One thing that i use frequently is early cross. It's an effective way to catch the cpu off guard. You should try it. These are some of the goals

So... they brought Master League back as an online event where it's all self contained and extremely limited with only a few league matches... you can't make this up... eFootball doesn't even play badly. I just want a damn League/Cup mode to play some cooperative with my dad, I hate Konami so much for not caring about doing the most basic stuff.

for PC users maybe this multyplayer project for Football Life 2026, if it goes ahead, will more funny and not frustrating like efaketball and will be what players they waited in vain for years from efakeball...

eBigLieBall - also yet one cool name for this "game", because it's really not even a game literally.
Game is where you are allowed to control events on the field, and here you are not.

I played PES 2021 for a solid two hours last evening, and as always, it was brilliant. Not that it feels stale, but I know what to expect—and those things are consistently good. For me, it’s currently the second-best football sim ever made. A keeper, and I’ll always make time for it.

Right after, I jumped into eFootball 5.4.0 to see how it compared. To me, eFootball feels like a revamped, refreshed 2.0 version of PES 2021. More than any previous iteration, this version instantly gives me the sense that there’s so much more happening when on the ball and moving it around. I’ve enjoyed most of the recent versions over the past two years, but this new 5.4.0 feels looser, more natural, and more varied. From ball touches to deflections, the biggest change is the improved variation in the momentum and flow of the game—both player and ball physics. The way the ball moves just feels and looks more natural than ever. The varying speeds of ball movement make all the difference, especially between a pass from a standstill and a first-time pass that carries the pace of the previous one. That’s the standout change for me, making the game look and feel more like a true football sim. Dribbling has subtly improved too, with more detail and smoother animation transitions, especially in the small steps when changing direction. First-time shots on goal now have a more realistic speed through the air, something I think PES 2021 lacks. When I take a shot, it really feels like a strike. BRILLIANT GAME!!!!

I'm currently playing 4k at 60hz (used to play at 1080p@120hz for added smoothness) as the turf looks markedly better this way. I'm now playing on Legend, (from previously top player and superstar), and your right (whoever wrote it), there is less space, making it more compact and realistic. Legend, actually isn't that difficult, although I usually use a top tier team vs and lower end team. All Exhibition, full manual (pass and shoot), 12min games. Plays incredibly smooth, and is incredibly responsive on the controller. Although animations are awesome, all Konami really need to improve on are the actual graphics, eg. LOD and gameplay-view graphics, Shadows/shading, Lighting, Turf texture etc. to a real next gen level. I'm currently using reshade to make a good difference to graphics/lighting etc.

Mates, I am really want to say, that early my own blood pressure was acting like "horses on the races", because of see how "script eliminates your skill to nothing" is very sad.
But now I am see eLieBall as a "circus with horses" and simply "getting loolz and funnies" with this "so-called game" in free time and no more.
And even with those teams of 107-109 players have a tactics "hard game skill" with possibility to break down players by hard and rude playing, because with "107-109" skill players teams your controls almost always completely OFF and you are just a watcher, nothing else works.

P.S. Just follow advice by KONAMI - "Play Crazy".

You talk to us as if you’re assuming we haven’t played it and that we hate it outright... I’ll repeat what I wrote in my previous posts because I’ve played it over and over again, and on PC that game engine, even with the 5.4.0 executable and just with offline exhibition match with the right hardware, with players skating like do as if they were on ice, is painful to watch and this isn't not about fluidity but limited engine. The animations are also stripped down for online play, and they remain that way even in offline mode...

I repeat, clearly with PES 2021 (or you’re playing the vanilla version or a not-so-great gameplay mod what you used; fluidity of a gameplay mods depende from gameplay parameters right adapted for the Fox Engine enviroment developed by konami in the years; this gameplays parameters can change experiences on pes 2021 or FL2026 a lot;

Then you talk us about the better physics of the players and the ball?!??; but that’s actually one of the biggest flaws in eFootball respect PES2021, even in version 5.4 with the Unreal Engine 4....

I’m telling you this because I’ve been having fun porting the gameplay parameters from eFootball’s EXE files into the PES 2021 EXE for months now (Some versions adapt better than others to the Fox Engine’s responses in PES 2021), proving that the game has always been the same it was only neutered after PES 2021; and on the latter, those same parameters result in gameplay that makes a huge difference between the two games...

I’m also convinced that every time Konami changes the gameplay in eFootball, they still develop it first in PES 2021 and then transfer the parameters to that stripped-down version (unreal engine 4) they’ve been giving away for free since the end of 2021 and there’s a reason for that. If I managed to do it without having the source code for the EXE files, why they couldn't be do of… Development always started with PES 2021 and was then ported to the free, cross-platform Unreal Engine 4, which is better suited to mobile devices (Konami’s target audience these days).

Let’s not forget, moreover, that eFootball is a pale imitation of PES 2021 when it comes to the controls, which have been greatly simplified for the same reason (the target audience for which the game is now intended)

So...the world is "beautiful" because it is diverse and you can truly think that efootball is better for sure if you desire to think it :D

And that there is why people are annoyed. If they had that gameplay, in say a PES 2026, I'm sure so many would praise it or comment it's going in the right direction.

It's like having the most fuel-efficient, powerful, realiable engine in the world. And then you stick it in an oversized French shxt-box of a car with three wheels.

I lost you at the 'with players skating like do as if they were on ice'. We are playing different games. Don't see the skating at all. I'm on a PC as well. Decent gaming pc with 7900xtx etc... not that I think that's causing the difference of opinion. Anyways, I totally agree to disagree with your points, and see so many positive things that exist in eFootball 5.4.0 that don't exist in pes2021. I do agree with the slightly more simplified controls of eFootball compared to pes2021, but this makes no difference to me, as what im seeing in eFootball, the positives, make up for it. I do wish for example, they had that manual arrow indicator that exists in pes2021. Anyways, as much as I was worried about the Unreal Engine direction, I'm glad they did this. Anyways, happy days for some.

What modes do you play? I have some great exhibition matches, but nothing that keeps me wanting to stay around.

I just want to say thank you for your amazing work with the mods.

Just offline, exhibition. I'll never play online as it'll never be as responsive and smooth as offline, regardless of internet speeds. This is with any game. Would love a proper offline league or cup mode, but exhibition at 12min vs Top Player- Legend Cpu is good for me. Mind u, 1p v 2p games would be best. Haven't tried this in ages...

Yeh I feel the same, I have tried myleague mode and the gameplay is so inconsistent, especially with the card system and high stats etc.

Until there is an offline mode, really difficult to stick with the game. What they did with ML tells me we need to keep hoping the PES 2021 mods keep progressing.

I guess at least the game is free, and for a game with awesome gameplay I can't complain. But that's also the frustrating aspect. They could just add a dlc for $20+ for all modes to be open for off-line gamers, and surely they'd make a killing and make people like me happy.

People still playing this?

LOL the gameplay is trash and the lack of game modes and mods and licencing etc makes this game DEAD TO ME.

I missed PES :(

I note the club you support. Better you let the anger out here, than hitting the bottle 😉

To those that dislike the gameplay, I'd love to know what they're looking for (saying you miss PES when some have said eFootball is similar is a weird take)

Since they announced that they won't add Edit Mode (and stay silent about offline modes too) : i'm wasn't really waiting for them to do it, but i would have at least given a chance to the game.
Now, i don't care at all, it's frustrating even with editing : they're tons of nations you can't even correct their names or change their faces, same as tons of league you can't participate.

And i don't get at all why they recreate real counterpart teams for fakes ones. And we can't do shit with, and i don't even talk about adding shirt here.
They're building their database like if it's an offline managerial game and you can even correct them, at least their name and faces. On more recent version only kits and teams names was took in account when you played online : it would have been enough.

Then it's a Pes feeling i want, all showed alternative are bad and focused on old Fifa i wasn't a big fan (i prefered, even with their flaws, PES than FIFA except perhaps the 16, and i didn't like PES 2018 neither for tons of reason like no referee, unbalanced etc. and it was "a year without" as i didn't like Fifa 18 neither.
The only which got the Fifa's feeling i wanted and reminded me Ps3 version was the 17... But the game got way too much bugs like every games with a new engine. But they didn't corrected it but removed the physics features/algorithms on the 18, simplified it (a bit like from PES 2014 to 2015)

So to me football games are dead, completely. And alternatives like UFL are all FUT-Like (so online) with shitty stats and gameplay way too offensive oriented.
The only solution is that one of us will won at a big Loto or Euromillions lol, i would buy Konami's licence and restoring everything. As the physical engine got potential but gameplay choice are awful and like everyone said : frustrating. I also got the idea to paid Kojima for recreating a football engine like Fox but 2.0... But this time he won't do that thing and leave : we will need him to expoit the engine to get way faster to handle it than Konami did.

Dreamin'...
That's all we still got :( (well to me we still got Retro even if i want something averagely good but promising, at least a fresh air since almost 3 years...)

hose that dislike the gameplay, I'd love to know what they're looking for (saying you miss PES when some have said eFootball is similar is a weird take)
I don't really hate totally the gameplay against CPU in friendly as i feel it balanced and i think that you need to be connected for the CPU having information of which one of the 2 players needs to loose/buy a packet.

But a game you can't edit, confirmed that it won't be any edit mode, with tons of teams/leagues which would be awesome to make cup or leagues (Asia for example) is ultra frustrating to me at least. I hate fake name and correcting it since PES 1 so...
It's not only about gameplay : a Pes game needs both (FIFA needs mostly the gameplay but they're totally in OFF mode to me since the 18)

Once again, until they launch the game in Unreal Engine 5 we won't see an offline mode, because I'm comparing eBasseball spirit a bit, they started introducing two modes, free(online/cards) and paid(offline). Just the thinking and logic regarding the name are exactly the same

Why would they care about $20 when they've got tons of people giving them $150 each week for 3 virtual cards?

The lack of edit mode is a big killer for me and why I don't play it as much as I could do. Saying that, early ISS on SNES etc. had fake players with no edit mode and many loved those games, so...I dunno tbh

Yes it was the case, but more than 20 years ago : we get used to have not only the option to rename teams and players, but also real kits template since a VERY long time and i promise you than i prefered Pes 2015 PS3/PC than the supposed "enhanced graphically" PS4 version as it was practically similar but with real kits.

I applied patch since WE6 so almost 25 years, then we got the option on PS4 to assign full kits part by part and then by full template since exactly 10 years (2015-16 on PS4)... But i agree that what annoy me the most isn't kits but renamming/correcting faces and errors (player's height, weight, wrong foot, sometimes no faces parameters all "0") as fake kits are more acceptable on Efootball than they're never been.

One thing about ISS Deluxe European version... The japanese version "Jikkyou ... 2" get the option to change names. it was to me ultra frustrating...
Like if japanese were more interested by "soccer" than us, now they're much more interested but still less than us, so in 1995 they didn't give a damn lol.

@Sovereign Hope i didn't followed ebaseball so i got no idea if they first stated in itw that they won't add edit mode, but they litterally said that edit mode it wasn't that important and necessary for the online modes... Since they said that, i litterally don't follow any information about the game and i won't anymore. Well, Fifa neither as they already stolen me 3*70 euros and i don't thrust them. Even with their authentic mode, the feeling is far from what i'm searching for at all.
So Konami was the latest only option, and why? Because all the F2P-Win football games from UFL or Goalzzz; all seems like they modified Fifa assets and gameplay basis looks all like Fifa's clone even if media and people where thinkin the opposite regarding gameplay year after year comparing the two.

Hi, fellas,
I recently joined FGN. Of course I am here discussing eFootball on the web. I would like to take to aussiepesfan's point that p1 v P2 might offer a welcome charm of satisfying gameplay without the jeopardy of online ranked matches and PvP input lag. I am on the boat that playing friendlies on the couch with my brother is one example where the game shines most. I don't have the greatest highlights to show for my pedestrian play in the final third, registering a handful of shots overall after two 10 min matches with extra time. I want to say I grafted and crafted in the midfield. Not to dismiss the fairness, balance (rebalancing), and the value of build up in offense, I did not expect to win necessarily just because I have a greater affinity on the game than my bro has for a Street Fighter (for instance). But the game was not too heavy for me. What I merely got from him on the back of playing SF6 right before our matches, "dribbling was good", "felt fine." The best way I can describe it was stable. Obviously it's going to be more stable than online. At the same time, I go along with idea that the game is mostly stable and fluid with a good wired ethernet connection almost 9 out of 10 times (in eFootball league/events).

The odd time I pick up a brand new controller and don't realize it. I can slip the joysticks and the game doesn't flinch (the camera angles are generous and the AI does its thing). That's a plus for me to confirm that the game is indeed heavy/meaty and my controller is not yet broken in. If am slow to dial myself into the new pad, I can still play in the heat. I won't instantly beast at the game if I suddenly pick up my level, but the reverse may be true as well If my play is moderately average to poor, I don't expect the game to spiral completely out of my hands. My most recent pulse check of the gameplay is steady, solid, stable and as convincing as ever (especially offline). However, the feeling of heaviness I can experience online may be down to me/opponent (or connection). I feel my movement turning sluggish. It's not just input delay (I am not talking about a rapid melee of inputs unravelling 1/2 a sec later with oddly similar outcome) or slow/low priority inputs that I would guess fall in the very minuscule 'auto/cancel' bracket. They just don't happen. It's not uncommon for me to feel the need to have to make common inputs multiple times (spam) to somehow transmit the urgency and haste to my players. However, almost always that gets through to the game. The starkest feeling of heaviness might occur for me online from a visual blend. Often it will be willing a common pass through close quarters (but reacting subconsciously as if it might get intercepted), being dialed in to the speed yet feeling like overrunning slightly and having difficulty slowing/stopping, and also times when I have to track a long ball in behind (basically cleared by opponent) after a good midfield battle and scrapping for second balls with the camera emphasizing the depth just at the right moment.

eFootball 2026 has released the slogan "Play Crazy". That's why I channel the dazzling JVictorPro in me (not that I would like to compare myself to anyone) to cursor switch like a nut playing defense. Please excuse me in advance should that put off your enjoyment of the game or else. Let's eFootball, shall we?
