And then the Man Utd-Bolton match. Of course Man utd were the best team, but they were seriously helped by the ref. That was never a penalty.

It happens all th time, the big clubs are advantaged by the refs.

Agreed, that was an absolutely terrible decision, the worst I've seen for a long time - and when they showed other similarly poor penalty decisions he's made, it makes you wonder how he's still a Premier League ref. They've been giving him one game "suspensions" the week after each shocking penalty decision, but I'm sorry, that is a catalogue of evidence. How the hell is he still refereeing?

A guy sends off a Chelsea player (John Terry) for a tackle where he wasn't even thinking about taking the ball, and he's demoted to the Championship. A guy gives a penalty to Man Utd following an absolutely superb tackle, which he was at the perfect distance and angle to see, and I bet nothing happens to him.

You can say that Bolton didn't manage to finish their chances and so the manager can't really blame the referee. But that doesn't change the fact that the referee was absolutely shocking and he's made these same mistakes before. There's two referees from yesterday who I would like to see get demoted down a level, or five (and I bet if they did, the guys at that level would hate having to be refereed by them). Mike Riley, who disallowed a third Liverpool goal because... Well I'm not sure why, because Kuyt's momentum took him into an Everton player maybe? God knows but it was an awful mistake. And then whoever the hell refereed the Man Utd v Bolton game, obviously.

Great win by Wigan Athletic again, i like the look of them this season.
WBA did fine too...although it seems they were lucky.

Two of my 3 teams are doing fine...

But first of all i'm a Spurs fan...i don't want to talk about Spurs...well why not...poetic justice that Defoe scored...

And if you look how good Malbranque and Chimbonda are playing for Sunderland...

I know. That's why i said they could have won the GAME.instead of the league.
 
Well once again United were helped by a ref.
Of course they were by far the better team and at times were even spelendid, but as long as you haven't scored that first goal, everything is possible...
Blackburn' keeper as every right to be very decpted, that was a nasty elbow from Vidic, instead of a yellow card for Vidic the referee makes a goal possible.
 
Two great FKs this past weekend: Geovanni and Garrido. How about Hull hey, cuurently sitting (third) in a champions league place. Wins at the Emirates and then WHL. They are very much the new Wigan (of their promoted season). It's easier when people don't know quite what to expect.
 
Just like Hull's manager said after the match: he has players who are prepared to fight for eacht other on that pitch...i like them a lot....and yes another great FK from Giovanni.
If they stay up, next year will be more difficult...look at Wigan and Reading...
About City, Robinho cost them the match yesterday...to me Shaun Wright-Philips is thusfar better than Robinho (but i'm not sure Chelsea fans will agree with me on that).
 
I thought SWP was easily ushered off the ball/dispossesed, from what i saw. On a side note, Skrtel got hit by 'karma' pretty quick in that game. Perhaps he shouldn't have gone 'studs first' into Jo's back and not receive even a word from the ref, who was in plain sight.
 
Hardly warranting a career threatening injury. His 'kick' on Jo should have been punished with a card. I don't think it was malicious, his leg went up to protect himself but I agree it looked pretty bad. He is an agressive player but I've never seen him tackle anyone in a dangerous manner.

Jo picked up a knock but it isn't serious.

Skrtel's injury wouldn't of happened if he didn't dither on the high ball. Hope its not to bad for him, he is such a quality, under-rated player. Still young, still to improve but solid as a rock.
 
Skrtel plays very physically and always tends to search the limits of what is permitted...but comes away with it (cfr. match against Standard which i saw the full 120 minutes, but i have the same inpression from MOTD which can be false since you sdon't see everything).

He sure is a very defender, but he goes too far IMHO in Southern Europe countries he would gahter red card after red card and will have similar problems in the CL...but of course he can prove me wrong (usually when i predict something similar...).


PS: Prod, did you listen to Guardian's podcast yesterday...what's wrong with Joe Kinnear ???? I've seldom heard such character murder in the media, i had the impression of listening to a Shakespeare drama...what was that all about ???

Yes, i heard that bout the anagram...Richardson is the only one i know a litle bit and i can't distinguish the various speakers...thre is one with a bizar accent (Scottish) that i quite like...sometimes he stutters a litle bit..
 
What a great goal by Zaki against Liverpool...that one will not stay long at Wigan.

Wigan got a good team, a couple of very good foreign players: Zaki, Valencia, Wilson Palacios, but also Heskey who is dong fine...
 
Yep Wigan will do well this season, with Bruce, Zaki, Heskey, Valencia, Catermole, Melchiot, Palacious, Scharner, all very good players.

They played well yesterday without creating too many chances. We were all over them before the sending off, but no denying it effected their abillity to close us down quickly. Reira got the goal he fully deserved for his performances so far. Looks like a steal at 5.5m
 
Well Peter, Liverpool can go far this season...it seems Raffa has found his ideal starting eleven...
Credit to Liverpool for coming back...i think the sending off was harsh, but Liverpool were good...
It looks a three horse run this season with Man Utd, Livepool and Chelsea (which i think uptil now are the most impressive team...).
 
Wigan are desperate to sign Zaki now. The bigger clubs are beginning to circle for January. Lovely goal by him btw and Lampard's header was a great move (lovely chip from Kalou, who is looking better this season).

Kudos to Pool for actually winning the tough games. If they keep it up over the season, they could be contending. Hull too :)
 
I've read in a Belgian paper that Manchester City are after Zaki..they would like to buy him from his Egyptian club in the january transfer window...if that is true, he's already lost to Wigan...that would be a shame.

As a Spurs fan, i'm happy that Spurs have won their first match and i hope this will be start of a better period (although next match is against Arsenal and tradition wants that Spurs take a bit of a beating)...on the other hand, i think it's a disgrace what Redknapp did with Portsmouth (and this for the second time). Ihope Portsmouth play a good season under Adams...

I saw MOTD and Everton-Man Utd...Fellaini played a very good match. I had my doubts about this transfer (not that Fellaini isn't talented enough, but i thought it was too soon), but i have afeeling that he is settling in sooner than i would have expected....

And now that we are talking about Belgian players, anyone here watches Man City quite regularly ??? How is Kompany doing ????
