The Gareth Barry everyone likes to make fun of every chance they get was pretty awesome tonight! This guy's a total Pro! Balotelli can learn so much from him. Ran his socks off, was energetic and making key interceptions and out-running players even in the 90th minute!

Clichy had the best performance I've seen him have. Normally he's a good player but has lapses of concentration and is kinda inconsistent (injuries don't help of course) but tonight he looked so confident and re-assured right after 6 minutes in and was one of the best players on the pitch.

City blew some chances and could've won this 2-0.

United were never really in it.

Have i missed something? Did you see what Rooney was trying to do with Kompany for the first half? And that yellow for Kompany, was very, very harsh.


About players like Parker, Barry: every team needs players like that.
It is only when teams have a bad night that those players take the stick (and unrightly so).

When a team is playing well nobody sees how much these players work their socks off for the flair players. When the flair players fail people for some reason only blame players like Barry and Parker, they are supposedly not good enough for that level, whereas in truth they get the stick for the flair players who really are the ones that underachieve. Usually the Parkers and the Barry's play as good as when the team is having a good match.

Players like Barry and Parker make players like Silva, nasri and Aguero better.
 
Congrats to City. Very well deserved.

But, I think they played even better because United weren't so... united. Some of the players didn't help at all. Couple that with Fergie's defensive strategy that didn't work as well. Wish he started with Valencia and one of the twins instead of Park and Giggs. United to have power but they were all benched. If Fergie had an attacking strategy they would've scored at least 1 or 2 in the first 20 mins, due to City's shakiness. And would've watched a better game.

Congrats to City's though. Apart from some shakiness in their first 10-15 mins, they played well, imposed their presence well and dominated.
 
I agree it was a bit of a strange decision to play those players in midfield. I dont think Scholes, Giggs and to a lesser extent Carrick have the legs for such an intense game, where you were unlikely to have masses of possession, for the full 90 mins. It would be one thing if you had played a genuine ball winner in there (say a Fletcher or a Hargreaves in his prime), but Park seemed to have this role and again, tho he's full of stamina, its not really his role. I'm still surprised as some of the players he let go recently. O'Shea, while perhaps not "world class" was a seasoned pro who was versatile enough to play in a defensive midfield role. Even a player like Gibson might have been able to shut down games like Everton at home
 
Expect an undeserving media uproar because it's not Redknapp. Then England will fail at the Euros and the media will blame Hodgson instead of the players.
 
Hodgson appointed England manager on four year contract.

Fuck me, I didn't think the FA would give him that long. I was thinking of a contract up to the end of Brazil 2014 given Hodgson's age.

That will be another expensive pay off for the FA.

for such a tight race . Mutd did well and beyond w their injuries I think its normal for Arsenal to deal w such they're on the list regularly. Jack in for Robin lol

When, pre-tell, was the last time Rio Ferdinand did something douchey on the football pitch?

Not sure why a Spurs fan is such an ABU - given your best striker is about to get sold to the highest bidder (which is unlikely to be you) by the team that he actually is owned by. Guess we'll revisit your feelings when City pick up Bale and Modric and whoever else they want by doubling their wages...
 
I don't really disagree with Busquets, but Mascherano is a decent guy.
It was a valid comparison, and I did not even mention the biggest twat of them all, the "almighty" red-nosed Ferguson.

The only a-hole in Spurs is a loan player, and one that I don't mind leaving. Although, FYI, Spurs has a first buy option on him, I hope we don't pay up.
 
Classy from Mikel - deliberate blind side elbow to the face of Tiote, who was otherwise owning Mikel. Ref, of course, gives nothing.

Pissed off, not only does Chelsea get away with yet ANOTHER ludicrous decision at Stamford Bridge, but looks like Tiote will now miss the crucial City match.

I know some posters (gerd in particular) are sick of this, but if Wayne Rooney had done that, it would already be front page news tomorrow, and he'd already be banned by the FA.
