Joey Barton is a colossal cunt, once again what did you expect? He makes a mockery out of his own profession. I have to give all the credit for the City players who didn't fall for his provocations. Those guys Aguero, Silva, Kompany, are top professionals. Nobody lost their cool, and that was great, because that was exactly what Barton wanted. Lucky that Balotelli wasn't on the pitch yet, because he would have fallen for it certainly.

I was reading on the Evening Standard just now about Barton's row with Alan Shearer on Twitter, being totally disrespectful, calling him names and all that... he's ridiculous. Whether you like it or not, Alan Shearer is a fucking LEGEND of a striker. And Joey Barton is a nobody, a fucking clown who only claims headlines because of controversial events.

Anyway, that's enough about this pathetic poor bastard. He gets too much attention if you ask me. Rant over.
 
While I agree Tevez is a cunt as well, it was just stupid of Barton to retaliate. You can clearly see Tevez hammer Barton in the back because he couldn't get around him. I don't think Tevez hit was all that hard though, and I don't think Barton's elbow was very hard either but Tevez made the most of it. The follow up knee to Aguero though, stupid, Terry just got booked for this, albeit during a game and then he does it.

I have a question as well, FA says it was "Violent Conduct", what does that mean as far as suspension/fine or anything of that nature? I don't know if there's a minimum number of games that is equal to or not. I guess he has til the 15th to appeal, but that would just be a formality in my opinion.


Balotelli actually walked out a bit when Barton was being led off by the two people and said something that got Barton wound up again. I think someone pulled Balotelli away after or just kind of nudged him, a city player. I actually don't think Balotelli would have done anything there, had he been on the pitch, but stare Barton down and mouth off to him to get him going even more, which would not have been hard clearly.

I really don't like Tevez, if he would have scored the winning goal I would have been angry, even though I'm not a City fan. It just would have been a slap in the balls. The golf swing was terrible as well, he's an idiot and keeps getting away with it so I don't think he even cares. People keep celebrating him and he keeps acting like a scumbag, why should he change?

Tevez was upset Fergie didn`t talk to him until the end of.... contract talks. He didn`t like being in limbo a bit ironic by his standards . He wanted to be part of MUTD plans and felt he was just a super sub . Funny how hard was it getting a start w/ injure free ,Ronaldo + Rooney at the time.

But you guys are exagerating. The RIP Ferguson banner was obviously made by a fan and in the euphoria somebody gave it to Tevez who holds it up, a picture is made and it become an issue for the frustrated Man Utd fans. What Tevez did was not very intelligent, but he is a football player and most professional football players are stupid cunts.

Same about Barton: he lost it and became agressive. He should get a long ban and that is it.

About City's title: it was close, very close and in that sense they were lucky. But as a Spurs fan, i have to admit that they deserve their title: City scored most goals, conceded the least and played pretty attractive football for most of the season. Man Utd played poor man's football, huge credit to them to come so close, that is quite an achievement, but the would have been a poor men's champion. Their football was dire work football with the occasional touch of brilliance by players like Rooney, Valencia, Nani, Scholes and Giggs. Paul Scholes was arguably their most important player and that says it all.

About Shearer: i'm not sure who is the biggest ass hole him or Barton. Barton was referring to an incident where Shearer almost literally tried to kick off an opponents head and afterwards blackmailed the FA, if he would get a ban, then he would never player for England again...

Shearer was a very CF, but he was and is a big idiot and a very bad pundit. I must say that i tend to agree with Barton here, and i'm not particularly a Barton fan.

Fact is that in England things are so hyped up: everything that is good is excerssively good and everything that is bad is excessively bad for a period. A couple of years ago Craig Bellamy was the devil himself, people who know him say that he is a very nice and down to earth guy.

Nowadays Barton, Balotelli and Suarez can do nothing good. All 3 of them are major ass holes, but come on.
In the first part of the season Tevez could do nothing good, nowhe is the hero who can do nothing good (on the continent Tevez would also have had a red card by the way).
 
Gerd, Barton has a criminal record and has assaulted players and fans in the past - I think he's very different from Tevez, Suarez or Balotelli. Barton is a criminal and is repeating his criminal behaviour - it's as if the FA are tolerating his violence.
 
The banner is poor form and someone in the background at City should have staged-managed the situation and made sure he didn't pick it up from a fan. I very much doubt he will be charged as, like others have said, it was not at a match or FA / PL function, even if they did try to charge him he could simply say the banner was in response to fergie's statement that City wouldn't be a, "bigger club ever in my lifetime" and legally it would be hard to counteract that
 
Barton is far from an angel Stef, i'm well aware of that. And i'm also quite sure that he will get a long ban at the beginning of next season. The FA will not let this pass.
 
To be honest Barton hasn't been punished enough.. Someone who plays in one of the world's most watched leagues, watched by thousands of children, are being exposed to a disgusting, aggressive, uneducated, ignorant idiot who has repeatedly gotten into trouble, his incident with Dyer a few years ago with Newcastle and now this.. I'm sure there are many other examples.. I know this is extreme but Barton should NOT be allowed to play football, as Stef said, he is a criminal.

You are right, our perceptions change depending on the context, eg. Tevez or Bellamy.. but none of these players went to the same extreme, assaulted someone at a pub or put hands on a fellow team mate, there are simply no excuses for this.

Just look at him.. first he elbows Tevez (even if it was made worse than it seemed), he gets sent off then hits Aguero.. is that really fucking acceptable?

If you look at it from the angle "example for childeren" i completly agree with you. In that case Barton is the first who can never play football again, but far from the only one.

If you look it that way, i wonder if Cristiano Ronaldo should play with his constant diving and cheating.? What about Mourinho? What they are doing is not violent, but they are no examples either (oh and this is not about the two people i mentioned).

I'm afraid that the role model argument is not a realistic one.

PS: as much as it may seem: i'm not defending Barton here. He is scum.
 
banning barton is ridiculously ott. he can be a nob but he's done his time, notts county have a murderer playing for them lol, so if you ban barton for occasionally kickin off then you gotta ban alot of players...
 
To me, the sight of Carlos Tevez revelling in the title win is quite disgusting in itself. The man took a three month holiday mid-season and has hardly been a team player. Then he turns up for the last few games and takes the glory.

The problem with the Joey Barton situation is that the bans haven't been enough to keep him from doing it again and again and again. I've read somewhere that, because of this repeated behaviour, he's likely to get heavier bans than what normally would be given from now on. Things will start accumulating, that I would like to see.

I mean, he's clearly not learning. He is a criminal, yes, but it goes beyond this - if he answered to common justice for his crimes outside football and did his time, then alright, that's a separate thing. But he keeps doing it all over again inside a football pitch. And it's not only violence, he did all sorts of shit. I think he said something racist against Agbonlahor once if I remember it correctly... Damn, I even remember once when he was a City player he stripped his shorts down after a match! :LOL:
And then again, yes there are kids watching, for crying out loud.
In other words, this guy is a disturbance to moral, order and decency, not to mention the physical integrity of professionals around him.

The FA could give him a season-long ban and he would still fuck things up and do it again when he returned. He's just that kind of guy.

+1. Players dive, but they don't hurt anyone. Barton is a criminal and repeatedly shows violent behaviour towards other professionals. He has a history of dangerous behaviour and doesn't seem to be improving - FA should strip him from the sport, setting a precedent for other violent/dangerous footballers. Why do we tolerate this guy in football when many big companies often don't allow people with criminal records to work in the companies?

That's the end of it from me.

Barton will face a 10 match ban (4 for his 2nd straight red of the season, and 3 each for the incidents with Aguero and Kompany.
 
Thank god. 10 is minimum of what that savage should get!

QPR needs to strip him of captaincy as well. He let his team down which could've EASILY sent them to 2nd division had Bolton managed to hold on to the win at the WORST possible time. The opposite of what a captain should do.

Kompany on the other hand was so cool and calm and deserves much applause!
 
2 things re: Barton/ Tevez thing:

1. If the FA are serious about using video tech to determine punishments, then they should ban Tevez too - if you watch he was the originator and quite clearly swung out and hit Barton in the head. They won't of course, cause there's no media witch hunt against Tevez - which is all the FA care about.

2. Barton shouldn't be banned for anything longer than the normal length for his actions on Sunday. He should be judged as any other player would be. Unless the FA are going to start having a '3 strikes and you're out' kind of system that has ramping up punishments based on the number of times you do something wrong in your career. They can't change the rules because of the player (which is why I still have so many issues with the way they treat Wayne Rooney - he is literally judged by a different standard)

3. Barton should never play football again after he PUT OUT A CIGAR IN A TEAMMATES EYE. I mean, seriously? He still gets money from a football club? Should be nowhere near a football pitch.

Tevez should get a ban as well, for intent. And I agree with point two as well, as messed up as it is for some of his other issues I don't think it would be fair to punish based on other incidents.

@ Gerd - I'm just curious which part of the season you're basing this on? If we accept that 3 of City's goals in the 6-1 match were when United had basically given up, both teams would have more or less scored the same and conceded the same.

City went half the season without winning a game on the road by more than 1 goal. Their home record was utterly incredible, but their away record was mediocre as were their peformances.

Listen, I don't think United were at their sparkling best either, but I don't like this narrative that City played amazing football and United were poor. Apart from one 7 minute spell at the end of a single match, the two teams were identical in terms of points, goals scored and goals conceded across the season.
 
What team led in penalties given?
I have a sneaky suspicion ManCity will get more (ref)calls to help their cause. ManCity vs Mutd is a media frenzy much more than Liverpool vs Mutd imo .
 
I don't think you can question the quality of the football they played. As for their away performances, well they beat Spurs 5-1, which was Spurs's biggest defeat at the Lane in years, they were also the only team to beat Norwich by that sort of margin. I also think its a bit of a misnomer to dismiss the 6-1 as just being down to a red card and some late goals, that sort of victory against a team like Man utd who had a very good record at home before the game, can only be done by a team on top of its form. If you look at the champions league form too it gives an indication of the standard of football. Man Utd had on paper an easy group, yet they only managed to beat Galati (twice) yet City beat Bayern (finalists) at home and also beat Villareal (admittedly not the force they were but still on paper a potentially tricky team)
