FIFA World Cup Brasil 2014

I hoped for the France to give me a second Knysna, but this way I'm even more entertained. They play great so far, if they continue to play so good they might get far in the tournament.

Doubt the Swiss will have the will and power to come back. Very disappointing to me so far, their last minute goal vs. Ecuador in the first match and now this.

Great job by Costa Rica, who would've thought they'd get out of their group. Massive respect! :)

However, it was clear that Italy weren't at their best at all, highly likely is that the England game caused that. Playing in Manáus in an intense match must've hit them hard. To play against a fit and highly confident team as Costa Rica at 13:00 in the Recife heat is definitely loseable.

Like a lot of the teams doing well France looks great going forward but shaky at best in the back. This WC could end up being the biggest goal fest of all time.

I'd have to disagree with that. Their only weakness is on the left, guess who's there? Evra for France, Shaqiri and Licht for Switzerland. Wouldn't call that surprising.

I have a bad feeling about what FIFA is planning, after the match against Italy, 7 Costa Rican players were sent to doping control: Bryan Ruiz, Michael Barrantes, Keylor Navas, Celso Borges, Cristian Bolaños, Marco Ureña & Diego Calvo.

I'm affraid as this will not generate much marketing and money for them, they want to sabotage Costa Rica's good performance

If anything though I'm kind of amazed by the amount of space the Swiss are getting. You d think a more lethal team would be able to exploit the hell out of that. And yeah Evra being the weakest link is a given nowadays. Same at Utd unfortunately.

Yeah, Switzerland seems to be creating space easily, but can't get the most of it. Lloris been spot on so far though.

Like France so far. They have such an high tempo on the midfield. Play with great intensity. Showing tactical flexibility and solutions (No Pogba from the start, no Griezmann).
Love the way Giroud played. After such a demanding season for him, he still have a lot in the tank.

But Switzerland has been terrible in all phases of the game. Defensively they normally are so solid, but losing von Bergen early was a huge blow. Senderos and Djourou are a disaster. Both lack the more basic defensive awareness to play in this level.

Offensively they were bad as well. Had a few good chances, but so undisciplined, so lost on the field. Shaquiri has too much freedom to be impactful in the game. The midfield lost so many passes. Against a counter attack team that's lethal. If they were in a harder group they probably be out. Two lacklustre games.

Edit: two consolation goals after France give up on the game, don’t really count :P

It's highly disrespectful to call either one of Senderos or Djourou a defender, they're just moving goal posts, nothing more.

Those two Swiss goals were fucking brilliant, too bad they came at such a late time.

On another note: D.D. and Karim I salute you :SAL:

I think Benaglio give up on that play, because of the whistle. Only saw the replay once, but that was my impression.

If it makes you feel any better, FIFA drug-tested John Brooks after our win over Ghana.

Fantastic game, seven goals plus one missed penalty, one not given goal and many, many chances. That's how I like football. :APPLAUD:

Truly sad news about Von Bergen, though, hope everything will be fine.

Imagine the situation: your biggest dream come true, at the cost of one eye and your career. Sad, sad news. Hope he recovers.

Hope von Bergen will be ok. Seemed bad, but I thought that he came out because of cut that close his eye, like a boxer. Praying for him.

Tribune de Geneve said it wasn´t that serious, let´s hope nothing bad happens. fingers crossed.

what a performance by France, WOW !
