Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I remember SAF saying Giggs will be ready for today whilst Rio and Evans are still out.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Fuck the fuck off Martin Atkinson, you complete and utter wanker!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Refs fault again? How unusual...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

That was so obviously going to happen.

For those keeping track at home, Martin Atkinson's record with Chelsea:

officated 17: Chelsea have won 16, drawn 1, goals for 40, goals against 3.

And they've given him the last 3 United v Chelsea matches.

Anyone coming on here to complain about United bias?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Because Chelsea haven't been that good and wouldn't have won the matches if Atkinson hadn't been in charge for the 17 games he officiated?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Statistically, it's highly unlikely. That's a win percentage of 94%, relative to their more typical (but very good) 80-85%.

Anyway, no point in harping on about it, was always going to happen. We're still 1 point up, at this stage of the season.

I'd ask if any Chelsea fans honestly believe Luiz should have stayed on the pitch, but to be honest there don't appear to be any left around here ;)

Pity no Vida for Anfield. You'd of thought a ref that spent the majority of his time giving last warnings to Chelsea players could have done so for Vida, then again it was a second yellow. No complaints there, and the penalty could have been given. It was more the general home-favouritism. Just hope the FA are kind enough to give an equally mentally weak ref for the home leg, but bet they give us Clattenberg - just to give him a chance to make up for the Rooney incident.

Finally, I know United fans aren't hte majority of sky customers, but is the most 'fair' board of pundits can consist of Redknapp and Wilkins? I mean seriously? If I have to listen to essentially a Chelsea fan, there should at least be some balance.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Still baffled how the Luiz foul on Rooney didnt even result in a freekick! let alone a 2nd yellow and yet he gives a soft as shite penalty. Wheres the balance in that, crazy. Anyway still in Uniteds hands, just a good job Chelsea are lower down and the result last night didnt stretch a lead or anything like that for them.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

So Smalling is going to be partnered with who this weekend? I've saw people say Evans but others say that Evans isn't available/fit?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I reckon O'shea will be at centre half mate

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

F365 have begun the campaign to have Vidic suspended further. Get on the bandwagon while it's still somewhat filling up...

For my own sanity I really need to stop reading the media. F365 used to be a bastion of common sense in a sea of sh*t, but it too has become tabloid. Nothing is left, other than these forums of course!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Luiz obviously should of gone, his challenge on Hernandez was surely every bit as bad as Rooney's on McCarthy. Anyway all it does is further prove that the consensus we're the only ones to get decisions are way is false.

That being said, we both had 11 men on the pitch and they pretty much steam-rolled over us in the 2nd half and our midfield all but vanished again.

Vidic getting sent off was silly, but then he's a born winner and with that he's a bad loser. I'd prefer a team of bad losers, than a team who'll sulk before the whistle is blown.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Honestly, how many of us wouldn't have taken a 1 point lead, in the first week of March, with Chelsea 12 points behind us at the start of the season?

The pundits were predicting we'd be the ones missing out on the CL!

If we can just get in 2, established players at GK and central MF we'll be in great shape next season. I still desperately want Neuer, but can't work out the best midfield option. Schweinsteiger would have been class, but won't come now his contract has been extended.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Rather not talk about the result but our performance I thought was really good, that line-up impressed me with how fluid it was.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Honestly we deserved a point at the very least. We played really well and didnt deserved to lose.We didnt look like conceding too until the penalty kick was given.Hard fucking luck.A couple of bad points was we lost the ball too much in the final third and we didnt play through Scholes as much.Heads up...Anfield is next.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It was another excellent performance at Stamford Bridge. One of these days we'll get some luck there.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I consider it a good first half performance, nothing more.

Forgot to mention Gary Neville in the stands... how brilliant was that? :D

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I don't think it's that United fans don't like Carrick and Fletch - it's more that we recognise the two of them together are not good enough for our first XI central midfield.

I'm trying to think about as they're signed to be choices 2 and 3, with Scholes/ Hargreaves/ Gibson to make way leaving space for a number 1 choice.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I personally think Fletcher is good enough and is one of United's more important players. He wasn't for a long time but Fergie and United stuck by him and had a lot of patience and finally he turned out to be a very good player in my opinion over the last 2 years and so repaid them for their faith and effort in him.
Carrick I used to be a fan of and still think some give him more crap than he deserves but it is true that he really has had some below average performances in the last 12 months and is not consistently as good as he used to be. Seems like a confidence problem to me. So I agree, he's increasingly looking like a useful squad player rather than a starting 11 maestro in the middle of the park running things for a side like United.

Anyway, those comments (mostly negative) are only about Carrick anyhow in the link above from fans. I don't think many United fans would be against Fletcher getting a new contract or would want him out. Plus he's become somewhat of a symbol for United by now having played there his whole career and coming through youth ranks and still of a good age to be useful for many more years.

EDIT: So I'm not at all surprised, they've extended his contract till 2015. Carrick on the other hand, a little more surprising but even then not really because even if you do wanna offload the guy and sell him in summer or year or whatever (which I don't even think they will), this 3 year extension will mean, they should get a decent price for him. Can't see Fletcher going anywhere though.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Why would anyone want rid of either? Extremely silly to even consider the thought when Scholes and Hargreaves need replacing.
