Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The CL will influence SAF, He'll try and win and give us 2 weeks of breathing space for the "potential" final.

Remember Chelsea have to beat Spurs, anything but a win ends it and even if they win we need only need a point but im sure we'll go for the win.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Very poor performance but it was bound to happen eventually.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We were abysmal.

Says it all when we had Rooney and Park in centre midfield at the end of the game.

If we don't buy quality midfielders in summer then I don't know whats going on.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

today's performance was poor, hope that we win with Chelsea, then only 1 point and we have a title.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Think you'll still win it, next week will be a drab 0-0 and that'll be enough for you.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Chelsea will score, it can really go either way now which is a position we really shouldnt have put ourselves in.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

well this is getting nervy, thought we might scrape a point at best...

looks our away form in the league could cost us...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Nice of Ferguson to speak ill of the officials again despite getting away with the Vidic handball which would have meant a sending off.

You can still see the wonderful and moving documentary on Bobby Charlton (an absolute gentleman and model professional) on iplayer in the UK and someone at redcafe has kindly provided a download if you know where to look.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Far to nervous ahead of Sunday, worst thing is my brain had told me to "switch" of for the League campaign. this could be worse than 1995.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Rooney got injured, so most likely won't play wednesday vs Schalke.

Berba was said to start anyways, so maybe Berba and Hernandez to start, or the 4-5-1 dreadful formation again...

But the focus is on the match vs Chelsea.....

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We don't need Rooney tomorrow but he needs to be 100% for Sunday, Berbatov on his own is fine.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

That would be nice. Owen might just fancy his chance.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Be glad to have this game over, I'm sick of hearing people assume we're already through.

A little worried about what team we'll put out, but the league is definitely the priority, so it'd be understandable if it's weakened. I'd be happy with Berbatov and Owen starting, Chicarito/Rooney needs a rest for sure.

Hopefully we can get an early goal and kill the game, we don't want them them scoring first and then everyone gets nervous.

I thought exactly the same but I see there was no response to this. They're all too busy nitpicking in the Barca thread anyway :)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We've got a good squad and the side should be good enough to win on the night.

------Berba-Owen----
Park-Scholes-Fletcher-Valencia
Evra--Vidic--Smalling-Rafael-

Should be more than enough.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Looking forward to seeing Owen get a proper game.

So if he'd said I thought the officials made two major mistakes in the match - would that be any better?

He should not bother talking about them anymore. It's not helping us at all and I honestly believe it hurts our chances rather than helping them. Funnily enough since calling Atkinson incompetent he has overseen a disproportionate number of our losses, and been, again in my opinion, happy to not give us any 50/50s. Fair enough in a sense - if a colleague of mine criticsed me openly I probably wouldn't be that keen to help him out later.

Fergie should shut up and start picking the right team. A result tonight is a must.

I don't think we'll beat Chelsea on Saturday because they just seem to have the 'champions' luck' going at the moment. A goal that didn't cross the line followed by an offside 88th minute winner in a crucial match...coupled with the luck at Stamford Bridge against us...just don't see it happening for us. Best we can do is a draw, which should be enough.

Fergie should just stick up a photo of John Terry's smiling face holding the trophy last year in the locker room ahead of Sunday's match. If that's not enough then I don't know what is.

You should see the bile on redcafe. :SMUG:

I suppose it is an inherent trait of all football fans only to see ill in other sides other than their own.

It's a far cry from the days of Shanks and Busby when players even though they did hack and foul still acted like men rather than wimps trying to con the officials all the time.

Personally I think a lot of the redcafe residents are rather scared of meeting Barca.

The prize for supreme idiot and he is ridiculed by the majority of the United fans there is a chap called cal? I think he must be Ronaldo's brother or a relation the way he keeps disparaging Messi and deriding his football.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

 Are you a member on there, Albi?

Yeah, that Cal? guy's a clueless prat, who clearly performs regular oral sex on Ronaldo and Mourinho.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Xavi would've been proud of that assist by Gibson. :P

Nice open game, exactly what a CL semi-final SHOULD be like.

I think that out of any teams out there Man United and Chelsea are the ones that could beat Barca. You will have to play your best though and anything can happen in a final :DD

Just thought you would like my little words of wisdom ;))

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Cheers Bob :))

Great night! Were going to Wembley"!

Good open game of football, you'd have never though that was a CL Semi, compare that to Barcelona at OT in 08.

Momentum with us now hopefully with lots of fresh legs for Sunday, lets wrap up the league.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

3rd final in 4 years... God! Funnily enough everyone is writing us off! It all depends on tactics and who and/or which team performs on the night of game....

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

One thing you can bet on, if not injured and fit, Park WILL start the final. Probably ahead of either Nani or Valencia.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'd prefer it if Valencia played in the final if it was between him and Nani.

Nani is capable of the more sublime but Valencia is a machine and his energy and tracking back will be invaluable.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think Park will start on the left, he'll be very useful in tracking Alves' forward runs.

As for the right wing, I'd probably go for Nani on the basis that left back is the weakest area of Barca's defence and we could really attack that side with Nani. I think he's got a bit more of a cutting edge going forward than Valencia on that side.

Depends, if Puyol keeps playing left back or not.
