Manchester United Thread

Ruud was amazing. Was going to post his retirement here but I forgot everyone was ahead. Thoroughly enjoyed watching him play.

My favourite United player ever. Even moresoe than Cantona. I'm not sure we've had that combination of sheer passion for us, as well as world class talent to back it up.

Highlight of my decade was when he ran into a Real Madrid press conference with Beckham to celebrate United winning the league after he'd left.

No chance of him coming to United. He'll be at City. Along with Silva, Nasri and Aguero - ie - not sure where he'll be playing.

Wow, if this is real that's pretty offensive, even by 'loyal blue' Carlos Tevez:

If Rooney can get a ban for cursing while celebrating a goal, surely mocking the death of another team's manager should bring some kind of penalty?

It's a dick move, but is that under FA broadcasting? I assume the Rooney ban was because that broadcast/broadcast rights were owned by the FA or whatever. Unless they've taken off the field behavior and punished it before, in which case, ban him.

Twat's being a twat... Disgraceful behavior for both clubs.
Btw. nice kind of hero he is... Firstly saying bad words to his manager, then taking 2 months break from City... Wow, Citeh fans should be proud of how brillant player thay have.

Back to the topic about Hazard. I did not see or hear him saying that blue is the color. He, asked if he would preffer wearing Citeh shirt or ours, said something like: "I really like both colors (red and blue)." And mentioned something like he's playing now in Lille which has red colors. Nothing more.
We'll see if he likes money and sitting on the bench with the likes of Dzeko, Nasri and Balotelli. I think that he even could be our new nr 7, he would have place in first eleven, in my opinion. As he said: it's the matter of next few weeks. It will be interesting!

Interesting day of events, At Carlitos, gotta give him credit he really does what he wants and gets away with it.

Hazard will be a great signing for City, but the thing about City now is unless they bring in a Ronaldo or Messi their forward line isn't going to get THAT much better even if Hazard is a upgrade of Nasri who struggled to get games this year already.

Aslong as we get the quality we need I'll be happy, they've got more talent already and only won on goal difference.

I just saw the tagline for an article saying I'll be wearing blue next season/year, something to that effect. Either way I'll be watching him play.
YoungGun, that's what I've been saying, he keeps getting away with it, over and over, so to him, why change? It's ridiculous but there isn't overwhelming hate for him apparently.

Apparently Kagawa's agent has confirmed he and the player met with Sir Alex today. No decisions though.

Give him #7 I say.

Also, tonight we're playing a testimonial in Ireland, and Berbatov, Owen and Park are all playing...maybe last time we see them in our red.

to me that is a fucking no brainer. Terry is half the player rio is, especially with rio back in form and healthy. A lescott/rio pairing with cole and walker on the outside could be a decent backline, with parker heading up the dmid spot.

:SS It just confuses me? Why would you take John Terry.

I think Smalling missing out is a big blow and would have been ahead of either of them.

Sadly he's the FA poster boy who can do no wrong. You get the chavs screaming for him to be in the team, but they'll be the ones wanting everyone else to not play for England again when we get found out to not be as good as the media hypes us to be.

I'm probably more peeved that Carrick got overlooked yet again. Not so much for the fact he'll get a good rest during the summer, but because it gives the impression that the under-performing Gerrard & Lampard are better. Even Henderson is in the reserve list ahead of him!

Don't forget the great performances of Henderson and Downing, who are going too!

Fine with me. Carrick can have a nice rest from the comfort of his home, and be ready for next season. It's not our fault the public grossly underestimate our players.

I'd like to look at it like that but truth is I bet Rio and Carrick are pretty gutted, the only positive is they won't be associated with the debacle.

Rooney will be blamed for his ban and only being available once England are out.

Don't be silly YG, we know it will be Evra's fault!

Apparently Carrick retired from international football before the squad was announced. Can't blame him.
If they don't think you're good enough to start (being the hub of a team that finished level with the champions clearly isn't as good as underperforming for Chelsea & Liverpool), you wouldn't want to go on the "in case" list either.

Michael Owen on his twitter @themichaelowen:
The Manager informed me after our testimonial match on Tuesday that the club would not be offering me a new contract.
I have loved every minute of the 3 years I have spent at such a fantastic club.
I would like to thank the players, staff and fans for their support and wish them well for the future.
I now plan to have a short holiday during which I will contemplate my next move.
His goal vs Citeh in 94' always gives me goosebumps!
On the other hand... THE NUMBER is now free.

The Muppets will read into that and explode #7:...

But Seriously i've enjoyed Owen as a United player, more so than I thought I would have, that goal was worth it alone and makes him apart of United history. I think we really could have tried to get him after Real decided to let go but it didn't happen then.

Got a lot of respect for Owen, I consider him a model pro and it's a shame his time here was blighted by injuries.

Some people will criticize him spending so much time on Horse racing, but quite frankly, considering how some other footballers spend their free time, i'd much prefer they did something like that.

Wish him well.

Number 7 is available again. I love Valencia, but he's not a United #7. Nani has said he doesn't want it.

So, we need a new one. Kagawa? (is it true 7 is unlucky in Japan?)
Love the thought of getting a true playmaker to come in and don the Jersey. If we're honest, Owen was a pretty terrible smudge on that history - recent in particular (Cantona, Becks, Ronnie)

Also, it's the Manchester Senior Cup final (for reserve teams, or sorry, for our reserve team against City's ELITE DEVELOPMENT SQUAD) tonight at Eastlands - want craziness? Of the starting 22, only 9 are English - 7 at United and only 2 for City.

That says something to me about the Premier League - when the reserve teams are interationals. Wow.
