No chance we're gonna get Modric or RvP so don't need to worry about it.

Baines though...can see it happening and I'll feel about it the same way I felt about the Young signing last summer.

A distinct meh combined with a slight 'wtf Fergie?'

Nah, I wouldn't feel the same as I did with Young signing, I wouldn't have any problem with it really at all. good signing and along side Evra would push each other.

I would just priorities other signings over it though.

"We could possibly bring one, maybe two more in. Now the European Championships are over, we're trying to bring someone in" - Sir Alex Ferguson

Sounds like we're still in the hunt for Modric, and Baines would probably be the other lad.

Fergie also confirmed that Nick Powell will be developed as a deep creative midfielder instead of the advanced attacking role he had at Crewe, perhaps Fergie sees him as the nex Scholes?

Fergie has said that every off season though. 'Working on one or two things' is almost as catch-phrase worthy as 'no value'.

We can't afford Modric, so I'm expecting a relatively random player, which I guess I'm alright with. As long as they're not as injury prone as Cleverley and Ando.

Another south American random would be fine.

Maybe go for Wellington Nem, he has attracted interest for a little while and is on Arsenals radar..

Think Wellington is on Arsenal`s payroll already! he just is loaned out to Spain for about 3 yrs  Chivas has Fabian a real gem CM could cost 4m or less.

Doesn't he play for Fluminese in Brazil?
Sure we're talking about the same player..

Edit - You have a Wellington Silva, two different players, both very talented

Although that Fabian is a good talent as well.

Yep Wellington Nem is definitely in Fluminense. Found out yesterday when playing PES 2012 Libertadores :P

Haven't watched him real life though. Is he that good?

From YouTube videos of his games he's very good, but I think that might just be because he's a young talent in Brazil, but I'd say worth signing up for any team.

Yes he is a Fluminense player. The player Bebo mentioned is Wellington Silva (also came through Flu's youth system and has a contract with Arsenal).

Nem looks really promising. He has a vast repertoire of tricks and feints but, what's most important, he doesn't overdo it. I love that. It is anoying when young Brazilian players who are good at dribbling feel the need to show off all the time. But this kid is different.
He also has blistering pace and a good cross on him.

He really impressed when playing this year's Libertadores, especially in the first match against Boca inside La Bombonera (which makes it all the more impressive a feat). He has great personality.
You could probably find highlights of that match (group stages). He set up Deco for the winner.
On the knockout stages against Boca unfortunately he was injured.

The fact that we sent Martinuccio out on loan to Villareal in order to keep Nem speaks volumes to me.

Of course I'd be gutted if we let him leave too early.

If Fluminense had the financial muscle to compete with European clubs and could have kept some of our players in the last couple of years, we could still have some of the following: Rafael and Fabio (United), Marcelo (Real Madrid) Thiago Silva (Milan), Mariano (Bordeaux), and Dario Conca (Chinese billionaires :P)

Was a big miss last season, hopefully he's fully recovered and we see his form from prior to his injury.

Im hearing we've bid for Lucas Moura, he looks an interesting player but have no idea really what to make of him, Rentboy you seen much of him and if so what you think of him?

Lucas Moura - he seems obviously talented but I fear that he has been a victim of the hype machine that is the media..

But I would also like to hear what Rentboy has on this kid!

I'd rather we didn't fuck about another attacking midfielder.

If Powell has come through as an AMF then keep him there, look what happened with Anderson.

Anderson was a huge mistake.
But the decision to move Powell into a deeper role was taken with consultation with Dario Gradi, so I expect it to be a success.

But I agree that we don't need another attacking midfielder, it would be good to see one of the great young talents at United however.

Yeah, that's Petrucci (he's wearing my fav number! :D), because you, Taylor, was talking about offensive midfielders. And here's Veseli with Shinji (no, this is certainly not Park... or maybe... damn):

And I believe he has extended his contract, because he's training with the rest of the team.

Ganso has handed in a transfer request at Santos, and United are one of 3 clubs chasing him is the latest off the rumour mill.

Do we really need another injury-prone, left-footed Brazilian attacking midfielder?

Did we really need another Right Footed Wide man last year when we decided to buy Young?

He would be perfect to pair in the holding pair in a 4231 and would fit my obsessive need to have a L/R foot pairing in the centre of my teams :P

I haven't seen as much of Lucas since I'm following the Brazilian League from afar and I watch more Fluminense when I get the chance.
But from what I've seen, he is a gifted player no doubt. Some Brazilian journalists say he's the Brazilian Theo Walcott, and that tells you something about his pace :)
But I don't like such comparisons and Walcott himself is far from being the finished article.

Lucas is seen as a midfielder, as a wide player. But I've seen him playing in attack in a more central position. In both positions he certainly benefits from his pace. But not only that, the lad is good on the ball too. I remember I liked his first touch. Compared to Wellington Nem, I'd say he has less flare in terms of dribbling, but he's a more clinical, accomplished finisher. He is a tad more experienced too. He has more caps for Brazil than Wellington Nem - but I'm pretty sure he "appeared" in the spotlights one season earlier.

He certainly looks promising and he gets a fair amount of coverage on the media, though he is obviously out-shined by Neymar.
But hey, he will be with the Brazilian Olympic team in London, so you guys will have a chance to watch him. Wellington Nem, however, wasn't called up. I don't know why. Mano Menezes got a lot of stick for that, even Romario heavily criticised him for that.

As for Ganso, mark my words: overrated. Again, I've been away from Brazil, but I got to watch him once in a while both in the League and Libertadores. I haven't seen him play really well in one single match. He's classy, skilful, has a good pass, and all that, but he is not a game changer in my opinion. He's not much more than supporting act to Neymar in Santos.

Thanks Rentboy.
Damn shame Nem won't be at the Olympics, I've read a lot and watched a fair few YouTube videos would have loved to have a chance to get a good look at him.

If you had to pick out of the Brazilian wonder boys which would you rather see play for Arsenal?
