Why are we splashing out money on zaha? if the figures are close to what is rumoured then it's fair to say fergie is losing it. £15 million for someone who hasn't really been tested nor proven, Very rare does he show consistency. He is an expensive poor mans nani. Really don't understand this move one bit.
 
Apparently it's only 10m quid with addons that can rise to 15m. As always with such things, I view the additional 5m as totally worthwhile - if we end up paying it we'll have made far more than that with success.

So 10m for a very young, raw English talent that plays on the wing. Given some recent similar buys (Smalling, Jones, Henderson, Downing, Jarvis etc) that's hardly out of the ballpark.

Really strange not impressive buy at all he'll be 21 . No other club was even after him I think he's 5 goals in 30 games . I guess Fergie like the dribbling aspect. Good luck to him !
 
Not sure why you posted those vids. It proves nothing...liking a player n bidding are 2 different things. Everyone thought Arsenal was interested in diame from WHU ,but we never submitted anything. Mutd is not concern over Arsenal . When we bought Ramsey over Mutd it was Wenger vs Neville not Fergie. If you want to post clubs that made a bid like Chelsea or. MCity . Then you point will have validity .
 
Nope doesn't prove anything, but I don't see how you can say with any great certainty no-one was in for him either. I trust Fergie's judgement either way *sticks fingers in ears when someone mentions Bebe* :P

I'm slightly disappointed he won't be joining up with us this season, if only to give the likes of Valencia a kick up the butt, because he's been seriously below par lately. But if Nani and Young return to full fitness that won't be such a problem hopefully. I've actually been pretty pleased with Young when he's played on the right, seems a little less predictable to me.
 
Chuffed to here Young's injury isn't that bad - good news for once.

Re: Zaha - I'm still not sold on the kid, but he's certainly got youth and confidence on his side. If nothing else it will be extra cover/an interesting option late in matches.

The real key to whether or not we win the league imo is Mr. Valencia. We desperately need the Tony of 8 months ago, wherever he went. The player just looks fully spent, and it's so inexplicable. His game should be pretty simple, kick ball past full back, outpace full back, cross. But he seems to doubt his ability. Wonder if he's lost a step after the latest injury.

One thing Zaha won't solve, I don't think, is our continued lack of a left footed, left-sided player. Surprised Fergie wasn't more interested in that, it's been absolutely donkey's years since we had a pacy player that naturally played on the left. (Yes, Giggs. Of 10 years ago)

I agree, though you must admit Giggs actually has been fairly impressive once SAF decided he should probably let him play more in his natural position again, rather than midfield. It appears to me the summer transfer window could get VERY interesting based on the numerous (rumored) possibilities for the top EPL teams.

Kind of wish the whole Nani rumors would go away. It appears to me that transfer rumors like his can't be very motivational for the team as a whole. Then again, I trust SAF has been around long enough to take care of any debbie downers on the team.

p.s. don't forget that RvP was a left winger for quite a while. And hey he is left footed too. Win! ;-)

Think your going OTT beach regarding Valencia's importance (especially if we had brought in Zaha now) I don't think he's that important at all if we can get Nani/Young and Kagawa consistently getting games on the wing.

The answer you were looking for is if we can sort out the back 5 and defending in general we should be on course because RVP/Rooney will do the business at the other end.

OT pitch really looks shitty. Will be nice who they replace it over the summer.

Full ham playing volleyball. That was a blatant penalty again. Giggs looking like him young self... Nani looking much better.. Rooney hungry but still missing precision atm. Should be 3 up but this is Utd... Why make it easy, right?

Hernandez continues to improve, I do wonder if he'll ever get to the level to become are full time no.9.
 
No wonder if he does, he seems to have the proper motivation and he is indeed a very hard-working lad.
 
Suddenly having played 2 EPL opponents in the Fa cup rather than the lower league ones that give our competitors so much grief looks like it's been more a blessing than a curse lol. Still wonder if we can keep up the form in the cup, league and champions League all at the same time, but SAF seems to do a good job rotating. Our depth this year is outstanding, especially w Nani and Anderson back and Giggs playing like a boss again. Jones also stepped up majorly. He impressed me a ton so far. Biggest fear I have is losing Carrick due to cards or injuries. The man is our talisman this season IMHO.
 
3rd EPL opponent in a row in the next round, but it's at home and it's Reading. Not a bad draw. I know some had hoped for Leeds but looks like the blue side of town gets to deal with that invasion. Hope the police is ready.
 
22 of our last 26 FA Cup ties have been against premier league teams.

It's statistically almost impossible, given in the early rounds it's less than 1/3rd prem teams in the draws...

While it's an interesting stat, I am not complaining much thus far. I'd rather play an EPL opponent that doesn't have to make up for its lack of technical ability by possibly physically attacking our players (possibly leading to injuries), or having to play on a piss poor pitch. (Although OT really is freakin atrocious, in its current condition it probably is worse than some of our lower division colleagues).
Also, you would think Fullham and now Reading have survival in the EPL as a higher priority mentally than winning the cup.
 
Agreed, but it does deprive of us of the 'magic of the cup' type ties. Something romantic about the terraces and low viewing angle on tv.

Anyway, Reading at home is a solid draw. We'll see what happens I guess.
 
So many boring televised Man Utd cup fixtures. Why didnt they show Brighton v Arsenal instead on Saturday?? *(Just one example)*

Not Man Utd's fault I know - its all about advertisers, the tv company's know Man Utd attact the best advertising revenue which is why they are on so much.

Unfortunately one is taught at a very, very early stage in an economics degree that the value of anything is simple: it's what someone would pay for it.

Unless there is someone out there with $3.3bn in their pocket in need of a football team, that's not United's actual worth. Cause the Glazer's aren't selling yet as far as I can tell. (though if I were them, I would strongly consider it. With Fergie leaving one day soon, this could be a peak valuation and they'd still have easily doubled or maybe even tripled their investment)
 
Wonder what the chances are of Nani returning to form after a while out/rumours of him leaving like he did from January 2010?

Would be class to see him back to his best like that. Still remember how good he was at home against Bayern that year, regardless of the fact we went out.
