Manchester United Thread

I don't think Moyes is to blame, I do think the combination of losing both SAF and Gill with two new people coming in made things difficult.

with the dust settled im less annoyed even if it seems everyday a new player/agent comes out to say he rejected us with are scatter gun attempts.

January or next summer they will be under pressure to deliver, not just in regards to signings but how we come across as a club in the market.
 
Give Moyes patience or otherwise Man Utd may face a period like the post-Busby era. I'm the only one old enough to remember this, but at the time Man Utd kept on changing manager after Busby. In the end they got relegated in a match against City, the decisive goal scored by a former United icon (Dennis Law).

It seems preposterous now to think about relegation (and of course that is light years away at this moment), but in football things can go downhill very fast.

Give Moyes 3 seasons and judge him then. Stability and continuity have made this club the biggest in the world over the timespan of 25 years...currently the club needs this more than ever.
 
To many fans, dropping to 5th or out of the CL places (or all Europe places in general) will be like being relegated to them. They won't be able to accept it and jump off the bandwagon. We will lose lots of fans because of that (maybe for the better) and the Glazers won't be able to accept that and will fire Moyes and the cycle continues until there's someone that they give their complete trust to.

As a sore-loser and a very competitive person, I'd hate for that to happen. To have all that "pride" of being the best dropping down to the middle pack. But I guess that's sport and my love for the team will not diminish even if we do drop many places. That's why I will give Moyes at least 3 years to prove that we are at least on the right direction....but if he does what he usually does in Everton and just sit back and lob the ball over, I don't think that's what Man Utd football is about.
 
I haven't noticed a shift in style since Moyes has taken over.

The summer transfer window has been a bit farcical, not unlike ours last year, but you look alright really. Chelsea and Liverpool are tough games, games that Ferguson lost in the past, there's no chance of you dropping down to 4th, let alone finishing any lower.

Would be interesting to see how you'd fare being a mid table club for a while tho ;)

We are the champions remember and have added components to that squad, not with standing that player's like Rooney, Nani and Kagawa weren't really firing on all cylinders last year. Zaha and Januzaj I hope get intregrated and seen as first team options and Fellaini will atleast give Carrick days off.

Top 3 is secure.
 
Really looking forward to our next game now, can't wait to see what impact the big man has on our team.

Thinking it might allow Moyes to be a bit braver with his selection of attackers, allowing the likes of Kagawa/Nani/Januzaj to flourish, hopefully!
 
all things considered Im really happy we kept him and Rooney, didn't see that happening to be honest.

Im really not sure how Nani didn't earn the right to be a starter for us after that incredible year of 2010 and only really tailed off due to injury and wasn't given the luxury of being brought back in to play himself back into form.
 
More and more reports are being written about Kagawa and Utd. I'm not sure i like it...haha, Here's my reasoning:

1) Either Moyes does take note of it and plays him more often to quiet the reports

2) Moyes doesn't care about them, but it unsettles the player and he's not happy and leaves.

Now I personally really like what Shinji brings to the squad, its something different and he has the technical ability to make something happen, and he's one of the few players that can really link play and start attacks. And I have a feeling that he'd be more likely to be unsettled than Moyes playing him. Somehow, i feel that Moyes will play Fellaini in that role (as he does in Everton) than Kagawa...(and I will be pissed)
 
Personally i would be surprised if Moyes played Fellaini in an offensive role.
Fellaini has been loud and clear that he considers DMF his best position and the Belgian press he has always said that if he would leave Everton for another club, it would be to play as a DMF.
If i remember well Fellaini was played in an offensive role in a period where Everton had loads of injuries (Cahill's injury being the one that triggered the move to a more offensive position).

Playing him in a more offensive position also was not a positieve factor for his starters place with our national squad (and now that Defour played very well against Scotland there are lots of candidates to play in our midfield: De Bruyne, Hazard, Dembele, Fellaini, Witsel, Vertonghen, eventually Januzaj).
 
On Kagawa, I think people are seriously rushing to judgement. We've played 3 matches this year, over the course of over a month. He wasn't fit for the first 2, and you can't start someone at Anfield who hasn't had a competitive match. Hopefully we'll see him against Palace.

It's easy to write stories right now about team places, when we have one match every week. Wait til the CL, FA Cup and everything is going on, then we'll be complaining we don't have enough players!

Also (puts on tin foil hat) it's worth remembering that a good number of newspapers have been literally waiting years to stick the boot into United. For example, Fergie had banned the Daily Star for almost a decade after they made up quotes - and lo and behold they publish from a 'source' that RVP doesn't rate Moyes the second Fergie is gone. This is the media's first time in almost two decades to have a full go at United without the retort of 'yes but Ferguson has been around longer than you, done more than you and knows better than you' do any criticism they make. So they're going to do their utmost to make United failing the big story of the year. Ignore it if you can, focus on the football.
 
Also, I'm hoping that Rafael is fit soon - we're missing so much without him on the right overlapping. Assuming that everyone is fit, I think this will be our first XI which I think looks strong enough:

I always wonder about Chicha more than Kagawa. How long will he want to play 2nd fiddle? He s more limited than Rooney and RvP and in some ways even Welbeck (yep I just said that) but as a pure striker he s brilliant.
 
I think we'd all like to see more of Hernandez, but I just don't see how he gets into a Moyes lineup ahead of RVP.

Personally I'd kind of like us to play RVP for 70 minutes at his highest energy, then bring on Hernandez for the last 20. RVP tends to drift out of games quite a bit, would be possibly a way to get him more involved for the time he's on the pitch.

Fellaini + Gundogan in center of midfield would be awesome and something I think could work very well for any team!

Those two would compliment each other perfectly and between the two of them have everything you'd want in the middle of the park running the show both from a playmaking, technique and passing requirement but also size, physicality, balance, resiliency and determination.

If I were a manager and it was possible, I'd get those two next to each other.
 
Finally, this feels like our 'real' home opener given the lovely fixture computers work to date. Optimistic we'll see the true United home performance we expect.

A game every 3 days for the next few weeks, including City, Leveukersen and Liverpool. Lovely dubbly.

Let's see what Moyes is about then.

Will see what Gundogan wants to do next summer. Leaving Dortmund will be hard, and lots will depend on how their season transpires.

Gundogan is going to Arsenal , 35m . Klopp. Say he would love to come to London. We already building a German side. I'm sure Moyes can get you lots more Everton players .

Might be a foul (is it really ?), but if there was somethin it started outside the box. Could aswell have been a second yellow for Young imo...
