Weird match. Hit posts twice, goal ruled out and played really well for most of the game - but - equaliser was always on the cards.

Southampton are a great team this year - only conceded 3 times all season!

But we can't be conceding in the 89th minute.

Think this season is a write off. Want to be top level of football, need to spend like top level clubs. Southhampton have almost outspent us in the past 2 seasons!
 
Also can we start a campaign to have Giggs retire? We are literally worse with him on the pitch than with 10 players. He is now detrimental to the team, and the manager continues to play him.

Gary Neville knew it was time. Giggs should do the same.

Good thing Southampton has a pretty woeful front line (save Wanyama). Totally deserved scoreline imo. Rafael nowhere near last season atm and Fellaini was utter shit (again) today. In all fairness to Southampton however; they never looked like a losing team.

What worries me is how oblivious the coaching seemed to be. Southampton always fly out of the traps with a high pressing game, and compress the pitch.

So Moyes plays the slowest striker we have, meaning there is no threat forcing the line back. The one time Rooney leads the line, there's an option Janujaz finds.

Should have brought another player back into the midfied, and played Hernandez up front imo.
 
I saw at least one fantastic movement by Giggs. After Rooney was taken off, he was the most creative United player...
I love Januzaj and showde glimpjes of his undeniable class, but he is terribly overtypend. The young WBA forward and Ravel Morrison have shown much more than Januzaj.
 
Only caught MOTD, but from what I did see. United are relying entirely on Januzaj, Rooney and Nani to create chances and hoping that RvP can finish them.

I hate Fellaini and Moyes, seriously the former couldn't look less interested in playing football for the club if he tried, while the latter seems to think he's still managing Everton holding out for a 10th to 6th placed finish.

Wouldn't care if we'd paid ~£15m for Fellaini, he's played (barely) at that level, but we didn't we got put over a barrel and paid out £27.5m. There are players who have shown more talent for less cost, irritable really.

Sorry, but we don't score, we concede like crazy. You cannot hold for 1-0 win here knowing how unreliable our defense is!

GO FOR ATTACK and ATTACK TILL THE END. Outscore the opposition. That's what Ferguson did last year. We had bad GA ratio, but at least we shoot the opposition out of the water ;).

Moyes can't seem to grasp this. Maybe he was filled into too big club to handle :/.

Anyway, whilst Utd are currently closer to the relegation zone than top 4 ( :WASTED: ) they're only a couple of wins away from relative normality. Over the years people seem to becoming more and more knee-jerk.
Moyes is being lambasted for making the same kinds of decisions Ferguson made. If anything, he's doing more of what most Utd fans have wanted for a while eg. picking Nani, but that's not stopping some from saying he's acting like Utd are some defensive mid table team.
ATM, RVP just isn't on top form. But that's only temporary.

Also, seeing the cries for Kagawa is a bit strange. Using Kagawa as a stick to beat Moyes with is unfair imo. Kagawa has been at utd for getting on 15 months or so and had what? 1 or 2 good games that I can recall. Ferguson didn't put much importance on him and yet I'm seeing fans act as tho he's the second coming purely, it would seem, out of his absence.

Not going to repeat myself from a few weeks ago so all I'll say is that you've had a tough set of fixtures and confidence is a bit low but this is the time you're supposed to get behind the manager et al. I hope you don't, I hope you crash and burn tbh but there you go ;)

Otherwise very good post, pretty much agree however its the decision at the end of yesterday's game which basically swung it against Moyes, not in a million years would have SAF brought of a CF for a CB at home against them, we'd have gone to kill it 5-10 minutes earlier.

we were unlucky, considering we hit the post about 2-3 times and had some very good efforts saved but we really need to finish teams off at home.
 
Rooney has too much influence on this side, it's no good when he goes through a poor streak of games but isn't replaced by another attacking player who could provide something different.

His failure to drop into midfield doesn't help Carrick and Fellaini who look like one of the worst fits for a partnership in central midfield we've ever had. They don't compliment each other at all.

The likes of Zaha, Hernandez and Kagawa should be used more wisely by Moyes rather than being discarded as a choice to change the game.

The Giggs sub was the turning point in the match for me and doesn't seem to make any sense which ever way I look at it.
 
Good post Godo and yeah everything considered things aren't too bad.

One of the most frustrating things to see yesterday (other than everything else that was mentioned and agree with) was along the likes of what Reika said; Rooney, Fellaini and even precious Januzaj were pretty bad at tracking back and supporting midfield or defense. I think I've seen RvP clear a lot more corners, or balls off the line (again yesterday), or chasing opposing forwards deep into our territory than the lot of em. There's something wrong with that.

Been thinking much the same about Rooney myself lately, doesn't help he confessed the reason he wanted to leave was because he was being played in midfield, his flexibility was always a key asset.
 
Despite the numbers that go along with them, I don't think we look very good with RVP and Rooney playing. The lack of mobility combined with them both being in too similar positions seems to de-stabilise us.

Who knows. It's an interesting season anyway :)

believe it or not, i´m happy Januzaj stayed in Manchester United and will be more happy when he playes for Albania... a guy simply should not chainge to other country looking at their chances for World Cup qualification... it´s selfish view...

it is double what Liverpool are paying to Sterling, both are 18 years old, not sure if Januzaj is so much better than Raheem, but the potential is there obviously...these are just kids, but the money is decieded by their parents or representatives + agents...

it´s fucked up world if you ask me where some people are starving and someone picks this amount of money being 18 years old ffs.. so much money he gets for a week i could recieve for 1 week to live next 5 years without worries. crazy
 
I don't think anyone knows what he is on, hence the wildly different reports. It's like Rooney, some sources say he's on 240k a week but the Deloitte best paid athletes report had him on far less.

I can't see united giving him more than some of the senior players.
 
I think Januzaj its by far better than Raheem , I'm not sure how far will Raheem go , but I can tell you Januzaj will be a very important player in near future , this guy its special .

well, i disagree on the term by far. Januzaj is more a side midfielder while Raheem is more an attacking midfielder/winger..

Raheem is more experienced in the team + NT.. while Januzaj is quality and composed player...i think both will have great future, but it depends on many aspects, not just the talent.
 
I agree with your point on the money, PIPA. Utd have a policy on not overpaying young players and I wonder if that's been broken to keep Januzaj.

While that's good in the short-term, if you take a stand like that and then go back on your word, how long before all the other youngsters you want to keep will be demanding ridiculous amounts of money to keep them at the club?

We needed to hold the ball, Kagawa for Rooney would have made sense, along with a fresh Valencia to kill teams of with his pace like he did Southampton.
