Manchester United Thread

If he's out Moyes will finally be 'allowed' to play with only one of the Rooney/RVP muststart duo. Will be fascinating to see if we improve at all.

I've been harping on how those two don't really work together since we signed the Dutchman, and how despite his class we'd be better as a team without him. Guess I'll see how wrong I was against WHU and City!

In theory, we might get:

-Nani---Kagawa---Mata--
--------Rooney---------

Which seems the most talented 4 we could play up there.

Nani? Is he still at united team? I don't remember last time I saw him not even bench? Injured or Moyes simply doesn't play him?

Shouldn't be an issue. Stick Wazza up front with Kagawa, Mata and Januzaj behind him, and the win is ours :SMUG:

Confirmed that RVP is out 4-6 weeks with sprained knee. Should be okay for WC though.

Now I feel even better about Rio laying into the Greek bastard. But feel bad for RvP.

W regards to Munich: I agree that we may be better suited to their style without Robin leading the line tho Kagawa (if he would play) might be too lightweight against that Munich defense. Either way I actually want Welbeck to run at them as part of the strategy.. Assuming Moyes would have one.

Didn't realise LFC fans were interested in the CL draw these past 5 years.

:p

Seeing as we are taking your place it's only polite to get involved as preparation.

:P

BTW,

Good luck at Upton Park, apparently they haven't won 4 consecutive home matches since 2002. Surely that's another record Dave wants to be part of. :SMUG:

Bit of a soft one though if that's given. Great strike by Rooney, no idea what the keeper was doing though! He ran in the wrong direction haha.

Who'd of thought playing Mata and Kagawa together would lead to intricate, incisive passing and creating more chances than we have all season.

Would never have expected that.

Back to Valencia and Young next game then.

I was hoping Nani got a run out, all this talk of us needing pace to stretch defenses as well as a player who can beat his man at will would be important.

Yep my friend told me this yesterday. Apparently we're leading away. Maybe Moyes too relaxed home? Or maybe feels the pressure at Old Trafford still. Hopefully this changes.

You know how bad our home form is this season?

We have the best away record in the league. Let that sink in.

WTF? How is that possible?!

Just checked, with more games played you can only drop to 3rd on goal difference with City! And that's if Spurs and City win their matches.

Just goes to show how much your home record means in this league, as the top 6 sides' away record (assuming the games in hand get won) will only be separated by 3 points.

Whereas Liverpool and City have 16 and 18 more points with the same games at home.

I actually think it's a really interesting study into football psychology.

At home we're under so much pressure to 'match up' to Fergie's United, and a load of those matches have followed a similar pattern:
- Dominate possession, but not manage to score in opening 20 mins or so
- Concede on first sniff of a chance to the opposition
- Spend next 60 minutes looking stressed and low on confidence in front of the OT faithful

It's like the pressure of being at home is impacting the players and the manager. Not what you want.

Probably more to do with having a slow central midfield and defense and thus being unable to handle counter attacks.
