Manchester United Thread

Pretty exciting day

I just wonder what will happen with the center backs, lets be honest Jones and Smalling at the moment just arent good enough. It's a shame Vidic isnt about for next season, it would feel alot more secure at the back with him. So Herrera in and apparently Shaw soon. Who would you want next? CB is surely a must? another midfielder?

Worst bit about Vida was the interview he did at the end of the season. Basically said if not for Moyes he would have stayed. F*ckin Moyes.

i think the price you pay for Herrera is CRAZY. still im excited for you guys..you deserved a midfielder finally..

Luke Shaw joining for £34m (Gotta love the English tax)

Miranda also on his way for £24m

Utd not hanging about this time

Nothing on Miranda yet, apparently up next is another midfielder.

that`s good mutd are getting players early for a moment I was thinking Mutd were getting players that made a instant impact.

Very glad Shaw has been signed! Can't say so much on Herrera as I'v never watched him play.

It'll be interesting. I'm seriously worried about the back 4 personally. Maybe even back 5, but only in so far as Big Dave isn't as vocal as older keepers, and won't have that VDS influence of telling everyone where to be.

Rafael can't play more than 65 minutes a match, and misses at least 50% of matches with injury. Evans, Smalling and Jones are either inexperienced at CB or out of form last year. And Shaw is talented and brings a whole season of prem experience in, but will be in a new system, new team and so forth. Really hard to tell how they'll perform as a unit. Though, if we could sort out Rafael's fitness, the back 5 could be around for 5/6 years:

--------------De Gea-------------
--Rafael--Smalling-Evans-Shaw----
---------Carrick--Herrrera-------
--------------Mata---------------
-------Rooney-----Janujaz--------
--------------RVP----------------

(screw width)

Big Steps were taken but more work to be done. I honestly don't trust Carrick and whisper it but Rooney to start for us.

--------------De Gea-------------
--Rafael--CB-Evans-Shaw----
------Herrera CM---------
RW/Rooney----Mata------Januzaj
-------------RVP------------

what about a copy of lvg's dutch nt side with the current squad? I think rafael and shaw could suit for the wing back role as they are quite a liability in a 4-men defence.

----smalling---evans---jones----
rafael---herrera--carrick---shaw
----------------mata---------------
---------persie------wazza--------

fantasies aside, think it's still too early to expect anything and I'm really impatient for the next season to see the new look of united.

Well you also need to replicate player qualities, LvG has Robben for example along with RVP because his speed and dribbling ability can exploit teams.

----Smalling-Jones--Evans-
Rafael-Herrera--Carrick-Shaw
------------Mata----------
------Van Persie-Januzaj/Welbeck

is probably the best I could come up with, Januzaj isn't a great fit in that role either but certainly the most suitable option and Welbeck would be another.

James Ducker reported we expect atleast two more additions with a CB and a CM, which sounds great! however I really think we need an explosive quick dribbler to our squad.

I think I'd prefer kagawa(quick, can play second striker as well) over januzaj to your view as a better partner of rvp. so rooney off to chelsea again? :D oh the rumors. (link)

Both Janujaz and Nani have the potential to be that 'quick dribbler' but neither is ready/ in form.

I fully expect Nani to be sold, at which point you'd imagine we'd have to bring in someone else.

Think it's clear out time too, expecting to see a serious trimming of the squad 'fat'. Ando, Nani, sadly Hernandez, Fletcher (retire?) and if someone will have him, Young.

Think it's still one year too early for our talented youth players, Pearson, Wilson, Rothwell and Thorpe look like at least one or two might make it into the first team setup. And Lingard deserves a look this season after impressing on his loans.

No, theres no rumours of him leaving. It's just got to the point where I don't think we have a position for him. he's best as a No.9 IMO and probably where hes best suited but we have a better player in Van Persie, sure if RVP gets injured then Rooney slots in upfront comfortably.

either he decides to drop back into a midfield role which SAF used him in 2013 or be a rotation player or maybe start from the left.

I think its best if Nani leaves to be honest, I think he's regressed to be honest and with his injury problems I think it would be best for all parties. Januzaj in 4 years could be perfect for that role but he's way of having the attributes yet to play that role, its a pointless discussion IMO because I doubt we'll see 3-5-2 at any point to be honest. Andreas Pereira is another youth who could make the step up.

I would love to see Nani leave Man Utd, but it the wages that he has, don't see him go nowhere. Last year there was strong rumours of a move to Zenit, but at a cost of wages, which he didn't want. Let's see. It would be good for our NT.

I think Nani to Juventus as a makeweight for a deal with Vidal would be good for both parties :))

Real having the hots for Rodriguez could hopefully pave the way for Di Maria, would be sensational if we pulled that off.

Im hoping we could bring in Di Maria to the Arsenal ,thank you :BOP: join his ex-teammate Ozil. They still call each other brother on twitter .

I know it doesn't make sense with the players we need but I'll be disappointed if we don't atleast throw our hat into the James Rodriguez auction.

If he moves this summer, admittedly we'd have close to zero chance of getting him, however if he doesn't and its next summer hopefully we'll be back in CL and our full status will be restored. He's a superstar.
