To be fair Strikeforce has got some decent fighters just usual typical outburst from Dana my show cant be beat.

Randy will fight for the belt soon, that's my prediction!

Randy defeated Coleman by choke, earned submission of the night
Chael Sonnen defeated Nate the Great
Paulo Thiago defeated Mike Quick Swick.
Matt "Rocky Balboa" Serra defeated Frank Trigg by TKO
Damian Maia defeated Dan Miller

After Tito fights Chuck, we might see Tito vs Coleman soon. However, I would really like to see Mark Coleman vs Matt Hamill. He's a great wrestler, but man, his boxing really needs to improve. No head movement at all
Now, regarding Randy Couture, I think he's ready for a title shot. I know he's 46, but really, sooner or later his body is going to work less than optimal. So now that he's active, I think he's ready to fight for the belt. Now, the other candidates are Quinton Rampage (who quit fighting to do movies, and recently announced that he's back) or Rashad Evans. I don't see anybody in line for the title shot, maybe Jon Jones.
But again, Jon Jones is schedule to fight Brandon "The Truth" Vera, Mauricio Shogun Rua will fight Lyoto Machida in the upcoming months, Quinton Rampage Jackson lost his title shot because he would rather do the Ultimate Fighter and movies instead (he's thinking about retirement, since he's given priorities to other projects), and Rashad wants to fight Quinton, so he's still a fight or two from reclaiming the belt
Now, Forrest Griffin defeated Tito, but that doesn't says much now a days, so he still needs to built some momentum
With that said, one fighter pops to my mind, Thiago Anderson Ramos da Silva. His fight with Rashad was close, a little more and he should be in line for the belt, but again, he didn't finished the fight and Rashad stole the fight, even though he was seriously hurt
Little Nog has a win too, but he still needs to build a momentum to fight for the belt.
So, with that said, for me, it's either Jon Jones, Randy Couture, Quinton Rampage or Rashad Evans. But since 3/4 have matches scheduled, and Randy is not hurt, he's going to fight for the title soon. Jon Jones needs to win though, since he used illegal elbows. I know he won that fight, it was a total domination, but he can't fight for the belt now
Even if Anderson Silva defeats Vitor, and wants to challenge Mauricio Shogun Rua for the belt (in case Shogun wins, since he's stated he won't fight Machida), that fight will have to wait until summer since none of we'll have to wait for all those fights.
With that said, I think we will see Randy vs Shogun in this summer, and to be honest, I think sooner or later Shogun will be the UFC belt, followed by Jon Jones
So, will Randy fight for the belt this summer?
If he fights, will this be his last title defense?
Anyway, for now, all we know is Randy looked so spectacular today against Mark, he might still have 2-3 years left in him, that's crazy
NOTE: I know Matt Serra is not nicknamed Rocky Balboa, but he's practically the owner of that theme in the UFC. I saw his fight live against Matt Hugues, and that entrance is second to none! So for me he is Matt "Rocky Balboa" Serra :)

Like I have said before, Dana comes out and argues that boxing has problems as it is dominated by two promoters (Bob Arum & Don King) but he doesnt actually want any other MMA promotion to get bigger. He wants MMA to be associated with UFC only.


Coleman vs Couture was a joke main event. When Pride booked Fedor vs Coleman 2 Dana White came out and said all kinda crap about it.

How was this any better? It was worse as Coleman is more of a joke than he was 3 years ago.
 
When did Dana talked bad about Strikeforce?

I remember Dana said he had nothing against Strikeforce, but that was when he was trashing EliteXC
 
Anyone know what Marquart's music was? Really liked it but Shazam wouldn't pick it up due to the crowd noise I think :(

That's not really a "BOLD" prediction. He is old and still performing well. He dropped down to LHW to get a title shit, and that is why they served up Coleman as a main event...to showcase Couture. But I'd expect him to have 1 more fight and then a title shot. Maybe his next fight would be against someone like little Nog. I think little Nog has far less to prove than you do. I think Jon Jones is 3/4 fights away from a title shot. Listen to his post fight after the Hammel match. Also keep in mind the depth at 205. If anyone goes on a 2/3 fight win streak with somewhat legitamit opponents...they will be in line. I also think that if anyone beats Anderson Silva at 205 they would be inline for a title shot as well. BTW, if I'm not mistaken didn't Anderson used to train with Chute Box in his Pride days(same team as Shogun and Vanderlei)..not sure he'd take that match either.

And to comment about Dana's "Strikeforce bashing". I think Dana is saying what he thinks and it's not about "respect". The fact is this is a opposing company that set up a fight ON FREE TV on the same night against your WEC's 1st PPV. Obviously that wasn't a friendly move by Strikeforce. I don't think we are talking about Dana picking on Strikeforce, I'd actually agree with most of what he said. They are a payday and a place for people to build up their resume's. I put strikeforce below the two current Japan companies, and about on par with WEC.

Are you joking? They let Henderson go. Yes Henderson looked good vs Bisping, but he is an older fighter who is gonna get PAIIID in strikeforce. No one is saying that all the best fighters in the world are in the UFC...far from it. But someone who is ripping it up in any other company likely hasn't been facing the depth of competition that the UFC has.

And honestly, Strikeforce seems to be really short sighted. They are spending a lot of money on fighters and the ones they develop are likely to leave, and they will just pay disgruntled veterans too much money...and continue until something like the Josh Barnett thing happens...and then your promotion crumbles. If anything a company like Strikeforce should be working in a good relationship with the UFC. There is no benefit for them to try to go head to head. They don't have what the Pride had or the current UFC has. I'll watch all their shows...but I don't think we should get carried away and think their on the same level as UFC. Totally different leagues of promotion.

Other thoughts on the fights:
As long as Chael Sonnen isn't fighting a good Ju-Jitsu specialist...he is gonna be tough for anyone. Might not win, but he shouldn't be a walkover. I was really surprised he beat Okami and not Marquart. Pretty impressed.

Demian Maia vs. Dan Miller - a pretty boring match, and I was wanting some badass ju-jitsu..but glad Maia developed some stand-up. Interesting to see who is the number 1 contender there now. Because Maia beat Sonnen and lost to Marquart. And they were billing the Sonnen v Marquart fight as a Number one contender, but listening to Dana before the fight it really sounded like if Marquart one...Title Shot. If Sonnen one...he is in the mix.

Paulo Thiago, is this guy really this good? I think his next match will be against a more prepared fighter that will hopefully give him a good fight. A lot of good options at 170.

Phil Davis, can't believe no one mentioned him yet. What a debut. If he develops some good striking technique. In a few years he will be a legitamite title contender.
 
Couture fighting for the belt??!?!

He beat a guy who gassed early and was as stiff as a ironing board in his standup and was there to be KO'ed just as Frank Trigg was against Serra

Even Rogan went off on one saying he was getting better every time even though he beat someone who is very very far past his prime. Get off his dick Rogan it was a standard fight against a guy who was there for the taking from the get go :LOL:

Couture is the for the PPV buys that's all there is to it

I was very impressed with Sonnen, that mofo was all over Marquart like a rash and didn't give him a seconds rest. That's how ground and pound should be done

Hmm, a fight between Randy and Little Nog should be nice. Maybe he could fight Matt Hamill too, since both are good wrestlers. Of course Matt is not as experienced as Randy, but I think it will be a good fight. I wonder who's he going to fight next?

With Chuck, Tito, Shogun, Machida, Vera, Jones, Bader, Bonnar, Rashad, Rampage.. fighting soon, I guess he might face

1) Little Nog
2) Matt Hamill
3) Forrest Griffin

Forrest vs Randy might be a mega hyper fight in terms of PPV sales, in Randy wins, it would be incredible!. If Randy wins, he might go for the belt then

I know there is one song that is SIMILAR to his entrance, but it's not exactly the same

I like the guy attitude, he really trained hard, but his cardio puts him in danger of being getting hurt

Sure, not millions, but hey, he can open a MMA school, or work as a teacher at Xtreme Couture, or Tapout gym, or Wandy fight team, dude, anywhere, MMA is only getting more and more popular here in the US

Trigg, hmm, it was nice to see him fight again, but with the quality of fighters now a days, it was almost impossible for him to come back, especially since he was never the champion in the old days

man, that entrance is second to none!

Cash Money that's all there is to it

Dana White knows Ortiz vs Liddel 3 will get big PPV buys so its win win for him

If Liddel loses then it will probably be vs Couture again for another PPV money maker, saying that even if he wins that fight will probably happen anyway

If Chuck gets put in the Octagon with top LHW fighters he will get destroyed like Trigg and Coleman

Why are you trying to retire people? As long as he isn't headlining I hope he can fight as long as he can keep it competetive. Yes he has lost 4 of his last 5 fights, and it was Rampage not Forrest that he lost too. It's hard to really say that he is complete shit now because his loses were to Quinton Jackson(#3 sherdog, a champ in the prime of his career), Keith Jardine(in a split decision), then he beat Wanderlei Silva(not the Pride Wanderlei, but impressive win still), then lost to Rashad Evans(#4 sherdog, who won the title the next fight) & Shogun Rua(#2 sherdog, who should have won the title in the next fight).

If he beats Tito he will keep his role as the gatekeeper for the top contenders. If he loses he will be done. But if he has a warrior spirit ala Sakuraba, I'd like to see him have some battles with some up and comers while he physically can.

Well, I mean, he can still fight, but not against top 5 lightweights in the world, it's too dangerous for him

Machida will kill him
Shogun will kill him
Rampage, Rashad... all those guys will destroy him, he's just a 40 year old man


look at Coleman

I like Chuck, I just think it's smarted for him to fight guys like Tito Ortiz or good fighters, maybe the new up and comers (except Jon Jones, who will also kill him)

For example, Chuck vs Tito 3 is a good money maker

Chuck vs Rashad 2 just doesn't makes sense

Thiago Silva will kill him as well

I'm just saying, if he fights again, that would be awesome, but I just think he can't be there with the top of the food chain, because he's 10 years older than those guys
 
I'm not in agreement with you completely here. I feel that UFC fans think guys should only fight when they are contenders. In this case I'd rather Chuck go to Japan have 4 fights with full fan support for the warrior he is. He shouldn't be fighting the best, because he already lost to most of them. He is far from a title shot, but if he were matched up against guys like Jon "bones" Jones or Thiago Silva he'd be an underdog perhaps because of his reduced speed, but I don't think he would be any means get "killed" His takedown defense is legendary, and his stand up is better and more polished than Jon Jones. I personally think Thiago Silva is highly overrated. People see he was "undefeated" and they got excited, but he wasn't fighting anyone. His only good win is against the inconsistent Jardine...so you can't put too much weight into that win.

My point is that no one is asking Chuck to fight Machida, Shogun(again), Rashad(again), Rampage(again). He at this point is a gate keeper at 205, and a very high profile one. I think Matt Hughes is exactly the same at 170. I hope they both fight as long as they have the will to. High profile gate keepers like them is what will vault fighters like Jon Jones, Ryan Bader...and make anyone at 170 who beats Hughes automatically in title contension talks.

I really hope they don't just do legends matches, but then no one wins. Even the older fighter that wins, you say he beat an old guy. Its a wasted fight in a soon to be ending career. Legends fights are only useful for loser leave town matches. Now we know Coleman and Trigg can't cut it any more. I don't think Tito vs Liddel is that. Maybe the loser is then in a loser leaves town match, and the winner is in a higher profile gatekeeper match. Those are my thoughts...

I agree with you in the most part

all I'm trying to say, if he gets punched in the head like Rashad did, it will be dangerous

in this sport, if you're not the best of the best, you will end up with Parkinson, like Ali or Freedie Roach

you can't take too much of those in the head, you know

so, with that said, I think he should be fighting, because he's so popular, and he's good for PPV

but I think he should be evenly matched with guys that are good, and maybe 4-5 years younger than him

not with guys 12-13 years younger than him, the speed is lethal
