Thats only 1/2 seasons ago, its still part of modern football. Obviously RIGHT NOW there arent many examples, but only recently did a major European club run away with the title!

That was my formation mate
I didn't mention Marseille under Troussier , they where also using a 3-5-2 formation .
the thing I like with the 3-5-2 is that it allowed the wing backs to have more offensiv impact and less concerns with the defense . it was also allowing one of the MDF to have more controlling role in the game .
when Naybet retired , Morocco went back to a 2 center backs formation and because of that we don't see the wing backs often go over the midline exept against weak opponent .
with Henri Michel we had 3 defensive midifielder and no real link to the attack exept from the wings (4-3-3 formation during ANC2008) .
no matter the level you play in , to say a formation is unconsistant doesn't make sens . it all depends on the animation and how the players adapt .
you're just being obstinate . you can have us thing you play football at a high level and say "ok mates I was wrong" , there is no shame and no glory to have under a nickname in the web .
maybe you have a diploma to be a professionnal coach , if it's the case I think it would be great for all of us to learn from you . if it's not the case it means there may still be things you can learn even from us

I'm not being obstinate, I just want to know about a team that i using the 3 at the back defense and is doing well in their own championship, thats just what i want to know.
About the formation (again), the formation can create a good attacking formation and with the right creative players upfront but the real problem is other side of the field, im saying this because most teams nowadays r trying to get players like messi, ronaldo, ronaldinho etc, that are team-breakers and can pass through 2 players and make killer passes to create goal opportunities.
Yet, in the final 10 minutes of a game if the other team is letting the defense play in their part of the midfield and their winning, i would like to see a much bigger attacking team, and 3 on the defense would make an attack with more probability of scoring.

That is why Milan scored 3-0 in the first half. Deficiency in the defense with players like kaká and shevchenko attacking, even 5 is not enough. But then Milan fell asleep and let the big liverpool attack do their thing and draw the game. Still if milan didn't fell asleep the game would have a different end. But still it made the final alot more exciting, and i loved it. =]

what's important is not the formation but the animation of both offense and defense . it also depend on the players you have if they are not good you can choose the formation you want but can't expect them to do more than what their limits allow them to do .
there is no best formation and no universal best idea as far as it concerns football tactics . what a coach has to do is to find the best way to make the best use from the players he has and the ciffers orders have no importance .
Morocco in ANC2004 had the best attack with a 3-5-2 formation and in ANC2006 Morocco played 4-3-3 and didn't score a single goal
. I think Egypt also had the best attack in ANC2008 and scored 4 goals against both Cameroun and Ivory Coast . You said you play football can you tell us at wich level ?

Inter just lost their first game of the season to Napoli's 3-5-2 formation! Inter have the league's best attack but couldnt really create many chances.

Porto played that formation and won the portuguese league, but we were completely destroyed in the CL.
3-4-3 formation requires lots and lots of practice and it's kind of unbalanced.
Well Brazil did won the 2002 world cup with something similar to a 3-5-2 formation with Scolari. I remember he tried to implement that system in the Portuguese National Squad but we simply lacked the players and more importantly we always played in a 4-3-3.
Might I add that when porto won that league the 3 guys on the back were usually Pepe (CB - Real Madrid), Bosingwa and either Pedro Emanuel or Marek Cehc (and this guy is kinda short).
But you also need to take in consideration that the portuguese league is weak. Porto is owning the league even more that the mourinho days (at least in points not in play).
I will admire any coach that tries to implement that system but never force that system into a team that does not have the players to perform.

PSV are playing 3 at the back RIGHT NOW against Spurs in the UEFA Cup at Whitehart Lane. I have always loved watching Dutch teams, they are always very composed and pass the ball very well.

Sao Paulo made Liverpool suffer against our 3-5-2 formation, in 2005. We won the World Club Champ, and since then always Sao Paulo plays in 3-5-2.
We won the last two Brazilian Leagues.

I think its essential to have the right players to play the 352 formation.A team gotta have 3 solid centrebacks,2 wingbacks and a solid DMF to form the backbone of this formation.
Wingbacks are the making of and death of the 352 you need to 4 feckin good ones.
When played right its a superb system but it relies on a type of player to go wingback and tbh theres not been may tru the ages.
