The Master League adventures thread

I play at the highest difficulty, lami (Always forget what they are called).

Yesterday evening, i played my first CL group match against Dynamo Kiyv.
It was a home match and i was a litle bit unluck with the finishing...3 times i hit the post.

And of course Kiyv's fiorst counter resulted in a goal and their second too.

In the second half i pulled one back with a Gonalons header (he is a fantastic player).
And i dominated the match during the entire second half.

This resulted in a Benzia eaqualiser in the 88th minute and i could have won the match with a beauty from sub Yattara, but once again the ball hit the post.

After a month i have two long term injuries: Fekir and Fofana are both out for 12 and 9 weeks.

I haven't got much time to play and progress in my ML, but i really love it...

One of the players i really like and who suits my style of play is RB Bedimo. I don't know if it's a coïncidence, but he is the first player to have a specific role and to make me sell merchandise for the fans. Nice touch if it isn't a coïncidence (but i could well be of course).

I had that with Burnley, with the striker Danny Ings - the message read along the lines of "the fans love him, shirts with his name on are selling out in the club shop". I thought that was a great touch considering the level of his performances etc., it matched up (i.e. it wasn't one of those random-sounding "quotes from a player" that don't really match the situation of your team).

I drew a match 4-4, and in the next game Jim Beglin said "it was nice to hear the manager admitting that he made a mistake". Things like that rile me, because I didn't - there was no press conference alá FIFA (which are pointless anyway), the commentator just "decided" I'd confessed to making a mistake. It was a hard-fought 4-4, there was no mistake about it, and it flattened the immersion for me a little bit.

Maybe he took it you were forced to play someone the fans thought was fabulous and you didn't? :P
 
I'm playing as Liverpool (come on, we all know Rodgers is for the chop soon anyway), and can't keep a clean sheet to save myself. I score loads but have the second-worst defense in the league.

My team spirit is high, 90+, maybe it's just that I need better defensive midfielders, but there are some games where I swear to god it feels like the AI decides it's going to score 5 passes before it even gets into a shooting position.

No injuries so far, though.
 
Hi, a couple of questions as Im away and haven't had a chance to start a ML yet.

What are the CPU v CPU results like? Are they realistic? I think it was PES 2013 where there were really low scoring games like 0-0 and 1-0 all the time.

Also I noticed some say that they have games they play finishing 4-4 or 5-2, do you also get boring 0-0's too?

I'm quite pleased with what I'm reading on this thread, I think Lami mentioned earlier that it's more positive than the discussion one.

Actually looking forward to finishing my holiday in the sun :COOL: so that I can play ML in the cold with the heating on :shiver:

Do you have to sign expensive/well known players to get those press conference cutscenes? I've bought players (mostly unknown players) but I haven't seen these.

Or maybe you have to be playing in a better league? (I'm currently in the Brazilian league)

Being playing the Supa Americana and been blowing teams away on Superstar level.

My team is okay, I do like to make players up, so there are a few good players, but still found it easy going.

Hopefully the ML will prove a challenge though.

Might elect to do a few manual things as been pointed out to ramp up the difficulty.

If I start editing my team over the top of an exisitng team in Portugese League will I lose all players edited or created when the update happens at end of month?

been through 3 seasons already in the brazilian league, playing on superstar and full manual passing and shooting, and i cannot get enough, what an experience, also iv noticed after you play your first 3 games, teamvision kicks in and the game becomes challenging at the right levels, im blown away by this years game, amzing stuff
 
Couldn't wait for the update at the end of the month so I just started a ML with QPR.

They are an up and down kind of team so my ambition is to take them to the EPL and keep them up. First thing I noticed is that they only have 2 strikers, Zamora and Austin (who decided to stay at the club when he knew I was the new manager :P) So I went with my scouts choice and bought A. BARNES from Burnley for £7million.

First game...

A. Pilkington (36)

Sorry the scores were laid out better when typing.

Started well with Barton scoring from just inside the box but then our keeper Rob Green made a mistake as he dashed out to cut out a pass but then back peddled to let Macheda score (my fault entirely) then once they scored we collapsed (a bit like Newcastle the other day)

Playing on Professional at the moment because I'm still getting used to all manual.

Some interesting transfers so far, Tevez to Chelsea for £27 million and Yaya going back to Barcelona for a snip at around £21 million if I remember. No need to wait for update with transfers like that :P

Next up Derby away. :))
 
Don't know about you guys but I'm scoring high in Liga Adelante on Superstar, like 4s, 5s and 6s. All wins so far and 1 draw in 21 games. But I'm not happy when the CPU turns on super accurate mode where all I can do is put the controller down and watch them score. I've only noticed this on superstar, so I might drop back to Top Player again since I can still score a lot anyway and can do without that silly scripting. One thing I've noticed too that even though I do score lots, the CPU keeper becomes better.

I'm playing as Cordoba btw, and facing Barcelona in Cop del Rey next :ANX:

Just played my next game against Derby and got hammered 4-1. :(

I know it's been mentioned but it really is like every shot on target is practically a goal. I may as well take my keeper out and have an extra defender. The reason I only got one goal is because I'm still getting used to manual shooting. I'm thinking that once it clicks I will be getting cricket scores.
 
Manual shooting and passing is way more fun to play with imo. Manual shooting is kinda hard sometimes but it's not like every shot should be perfectly placed what pretty much happens when playing with auto aim.
Keepers are so weak any shot from around 18m goes in anyway if not aimed directly at the keeper. They are just too slow. Maybe it's because I play the PES League where the keepers just have really bad ratings.

Anyway...I just finished my first season and even though I started winning more towards the end I couldn't get out of the leagues cellar.
Slowly getting better at defense though. Will try to sign some players with destroyer and man marking ability before the new season starts...

Upped the gk def prowess to 99 on all in Serie a and b,saw a tip about.
Big difference,no more easy goals in and outside the box.

Playing a ML with Milan,I'm in 8th after 20 L games,qtrs. both in EL and Coppa Italia.
Loving it
One thing when you face the tough teams (Juve Roma Inter Lazio Napoli) you really have to set your tactics right,otherwise you'll get run over.
And freekicks really happens,especially facing those teams,being very agg.

NO, there is no fix for keepers. Just played ML on Top Player Holland League with Ajax against NEC and won 1:0. The goal was a low shot to goal corner and the keeper is weak. Before starting it, I had tweaked the whole Holland teams keepers with 99 def prowess.

This game must be PATCHED!!

Ive seen a massive change.
I play on superstar,with no assists at all.
Having a hard time scoring,goalies making stupid saves.
On Xbox 360 btw.

I've seen a change round mid season,both with teams getting tougher,and go getting better

the CPU vs CPU results are great!Its your results that sucks..always high scores 4-3, 2-6, 5-3 and so on..its like playing handball totally unrealistic.. i do really miss 0-0 not the boring ones but those where u had chances but unable for u and CPU to score...there are NO such matches anymore lad.

Heh thanks for the reply perskos, I've noticed that too after starting a ML.

I also miss those 0-0 games even the boring ones as they are so realistic. I am going to give it a break until the patch.

Just started a ML on PES2013 on the PS2. First two games finished 1-0 to the CPU, actually quite enjoyed it. :)
 
Yesterday, i had my most entertaining match until now.
It was in the first round of the French Cup: Ajaccio- Olympique Lyonnias (= me).
At the end of a difficult first half (Ajaccio played very defensive) Clement Grenier, scored two goals with long distance shots.

I had fielded a B-team because the match after was a mid-week match for the CL against Arsenal.

In the second half Lyon dominated, but i missed quite a few chances.

It turned out that my players were knackered and some of them were clearly not good enough (one of my CB's, Rose was the weak link). To my astonishment Ajaccio scored two late goals to equalise.

In the prolongations my 4th choice AMF scored twice and Ajaccio pulled one back, but that was right at the end of the second prolongation. The prolongations were a real jouy with end to end football whereas the first 90 minute were more about midfield battles...

Great match!

Something that I did noticed while playing CL is that once you take the lead, CPU imporves a lot offensively right away, right from the kickoff they go on attack easily and you have to pray to not concede a goal.

Theres this instantanious, radical improvement of CPU attacking plays when you take the leas, thats for sure. Seems like scripting to me, but I enjoyed immensily CL matchs last night.

Do you guys play with the crap ML players or with the default players, unchanged players ?
 
Im going to repeat this question again: DO YOU GUYS PLAY ML WITH THE ORIGINAL SQUAD OR WITH THE FICTITIOUS ML PLAYERS ? WHAT DO YOU GUYS RECOMMEND TO START ML ?
