- Jordan rides the bus

And other great documentaries of this series cover other sports, including football (Two Escobars), and are also very well done. Others are weaker, but interesting anyway.

Kicking it old school this weekend and borrowed the Aliens Quadroligy off of our mates as I've never seen ANY of the Alien films! :(

Alien The classic that started it all. Very atmospheric and it didnt surprise me to learn that Ridley Scott was heavily influenced by 2001 - I thought it was spookily similar whilst watching.

Some nice jumpy bits and it deserves its classic tag. 8.5/10

Aliens Jump forward 6-7 years and its the mid 80s. I didnt mind the sequel, it wasnt bad but not as good as Alien. The special effects in particular were pretty poor - space sequences were done much better not only in the first but also in Star Wars some 10 years earlier. Not sure what they changed technology wise, but it was poor.

Other than that, the expanded story was quite good and liked the introduction of Newt which helped give Weaver a softer side. 7/10

Alien 3 I was instantly worried reading the cast list on the opening credits. Read like a 'whos-who' of poor UK TV shows. Was really shocked too be honest - terrible, terrible casting.

The film is awful, from the start where they dismissed important characters too the aforementioned UK cast to the horrible special effects of the Alien - considering we are now in the 90s, it was poor.

The story was horrid again and I was amazed David Fincher directed this - though later reading I discovered the problems they had making it and that Fincher all but disowns the film completely, which makes sense.

Literally one of the worst films I've ever seen and I couldnt wait for it to end 2/10 (extra point for Weaver looking hot with shaved hair!)

Got Resurrection to watch sometime this week - I've heard its as bad, if not worse than 3, but its got my all-time favourite woman in (Winona Ryder) so already scoring at least 3/10 :)

Yeah, the series really does get worse as it goes on. Alien is the best. Don't bother with Resurrection.

But no, never watched any of them - not Back To The Future! Just 2 franchises I never bothered with.

Anyone else got any really popular/classic films that they have never watched?
 
Aliens is the best by a long way, one of my favs. I don't buy many DVD's, but that's one I had to purchase.

Now BTTF is a superb series. I personally like the first two the most but the third isn't a bad film by any measure. Great trilogy.

For me it's the Oceans trilogy. Have all 3 on DVD just never found time to watch them. I think I've watched about 30mins of Oceans 11.
 
Can't remember much of the Oceans series, and I've not seen the like of "Apocolype Now", "Psycho" and "To Kill A Mockingbird", all of which I really should get around to seeing.

And for the record: Alien and Aliens are both masterpieces in all the possible senses of the wrod. Directing, cinematography, narration, character building... They redefined the horror-scifi cinema for good. Clearly, the films were meant to be watched at that time, when they were a revolution. That said, it's not true there were a 3rd and 4th title to the franchise, you're making that up.

The Aliens franchise had only 2 titles. It is known.

Yea was gonna say that something is definitely missed by not watching it around the times of releases.

Watched 4 last night and whilst not as bad as 3, was still cack. Way over the top effects and for the love of god, Ron Pearlman :( even Ryder wasn't her usual spunky self.

Give it 5/10.

Yes, awesome documentary. I remember watching that match with the own goal of Escobar, and knowing of his death some months later. I was shocked. If you haven't watched the rest of those documentaries, I strongly recommend "Once brothers" and "The guru of go" to start with. And the "Reggie Miller" one is just plain fun. You would have never thought Reggie was the worse of the Miller brothers playing basketball, do you?

Now another sports documentary recommendation:
In Spain, there's a TV series of short documentaries (30 mins each) done by Michael Robinson (former Liverpool player)called Informe Robinson which is also awesome, though I don't know if you can find it dubbed or subbed anywhere, cause it's in Spanish. It's probably the best (and only) real sports journalism done in Spain right now.

They had an episode focused on Derek Redmond and his father, and the history of his injury in the Olmypics. And it was a great history about a human relationship between father and son. They had him and his father walk together in the same field where his dreams where broken, 20 years later... very touchy.
 
The Other Guys (BD) - 5/10

Disappointing.
 
Take me Home Tonight - 8/10

I really enjoyed this, decent comedy with plenty of laughs. A Superbad style storyline, but without the crude humour. Worth a watch.

Source Code - 7/10

Another Sci-Fi thriller with a pretty decent concept. Could have been better, but enjoyed it non-the-less.
 
the third time round the same annoying dialogue happened in source code i wanted to storm out of the theater. fucking hell. i thought it was utter shit. and this from the director of moon, which in my opinion is outstanding.

Is that pish about the guy stuck on the moon and then it turns into Multiplicity. Feck, sounds like David Bowie has a lot to answer for.

Watched Transformers 3 (Dark of the Moon) - 7/10.

Would've been lucky to get a 4 or 5 if it continued with the boring as heck start, but the effects were awesome and at least the latter half of the movie picked up.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2

The last 3 films were garbage. This one is my favourite. That was unexpected.

I finished the book this morning and this is exactly what I wanted to see. Some scenes were adjusted to make it look better on screen, and I don't understand how people felt betrayed.

Visually impressive, with a great soundtrack too, I can't believe the saga is over. I'm gonna miss Rogue :(.

ESPN 30 in 30 Series (BD) - 9.5/10

Thoroughly enjoyed the entire series they truly are some of the best sports documentaries I've ever seen. They range from American Football, Football, Baseball, Rugby, Tennis, Boxing and Basketball.

A must watch for sports fans. Even if you're not a fan of a particular sport I guarantee you'll still find them entertaining.
 
21 (BD)

Finally got some time to watch the movie in HD after seeing it on free-TV earlier. That time I wasn't very satisfied with it, but now I think I like the movie. It isn't something special I would like to see every day, but all in all entertaining and good to watch.

Super - 5/10

Tried to be Defendor and Kick-Ass in one movie and failed. Not as funny as Defendor, not as good story or action as Kick-Ass. Gore for the sake of it. Quite poor really.
 
Gave up with James Bond films around the time Timothy Dalton took over. Decided to give Casino Royale a watch and really enjoyed it, thought Daniel Craig was really good in it.

8/10.

Have + Quantum of Solace, so will give that a watch.

I really liked CR, it was one of the first films I pirated in blu-ray. Good times, 7/10.
