The Retro-PES Corner

Sega Astro City. They made a mini of that a while back. Surprising mini to make given the arcade machines utter obscurity. Never played Premier Soccer by Konami.
They did a PES 6 arcade machine back in the day but can't remember what it's called.
I collect everything related to Konami with soccer.

I even have the PES arcade PCB you mentioned.

PES 2008 is a poor evolution of PES 6. The Xbox version of PES 6, despite its flaws, is much better than PES 2008 in my opinion. Playing with an emulator seems to be the only way. It would be great to experience the Xbox version with the PC mods...
I do enjoy the 360 version of PES 6 too, 2008 isn't that much different other than ball physics and AI.

Funny that they didn't assign long sleeves to Beckham
I don't think anyone had long sleeves or untucked shirts. This game was quite clearly under-developed or rushed to compete with FIFA 07 on 360.

Very nice indeed.
So if you have the PCB I'm guessing you're looking for the arcade housing. Won't be cheap!

Anybody have a camera hack for PES3 on PS2 that modifies the vertical camera to be lower in depth and not flip at halftime, so you are always attacking up. I’d also be willing to settle for a camera hack on PC versions of this era.

Yesterday I fiddled around with PES2014 PS2 after almost 10 years (Greek version - don't think it matters)

I converted and imported a Spanish OF with emblems and kits and had a few matches. The game is..different. Not as arcadey as PES2009 and PES2013 PS2 which I played a bit earlier this year, but slower which is nice. AI attacks nicely and is fouling. I finished 10 min game with PAOK vs Man City losing 0-3 with 9 fouls made from the AI, that's something that only may happen in PES2008 PS2.

There are some weird things with this game, for example the South American clubs. Only accessible in the Copa Libertadores mode, not in general frendlies or ML, players and clubs nowhere to be found in the OF editors or the edit mode. Not sure how these things work but I'm intrigued.

Players seem a bit..smaller maybe? and that gives the impression that the pitch is a tad bigger, which is nice. The ball looks a bit bigger though in comparison which may or may not bother you.

Started an ML and had a strange bug thankfully right away, after I made a couple transfers, I just had 600 million added to the bank instead of 600 thousand after a sale :P Never encountered that before in any PES PS2, is it something known?

A nice change of pace but way too quirky to fully edit and mod. It's a shame it's being updated constantly but all of the patches are of extremely low quality. They have a lot of faces, yes, but the DB is a complete mess in at least 5 of them that I tried, especially outside of the bigger teams.

The same happens with j-league players in winning eleven 2013 J-League dlc , you can't edit japanese players at all or even south american players , even though you can in we2012 j league dlc , I'm not sure why too , i think maybe because the data of the players are "outside" the original game database ? I don't know ...

Yes I already have the j league dlc for winning eleven 2012 but in needs the lisence (edat or rap file) , I've been searching for it's lisence all over the internet but I'm waiting for someone that have that dlc can extract the edat files from the hdd0 of their PS3 , also I know that they're editable because some videos showed the stats of the japanese players in we2012 and you can clearly see that they're editable as also the south american teams
