I don't think it matters too much how they do vs the competition.
They care about profit, I bet they make a lot of money out of microtransactions and judging by the looks of their game over the last 4 years, they're not even investing too much in development.
They just add some fancy cards in their casino and update the rosters after transfer market windows, and that's it.
But gameplay-wise it did not evolve much since the eTurd it was on day 1. Four years it's a lot of time if you care about improving a game, which they obviously don't.
