Re: FIFA 09 - Discussion Thread

My impressions:

Very good game, feels more natural and fluid. My only problem is that the players seem to look a little skinny, as opposed to apeish in 08. From far it looks great though. They even rated Ambrosini better than Gattuso - HUGE credit to the Milan researcher there.

2 minutes is hard to play, but I've managed to create some beautiful plays. The passing feels a lot 'heavier', meaning more realistic. The collisions are great too, but I wish they gave a few more advantages. I found shooting to be great too, not too hard and not too easy. Have seen some great saves by GKs, nothing dodgy yet.

Another problem is SLIGHT slowdown during the match, but very slight. Hopefully it will be polished up in October.

Very good:D

Re: FIFA 09 - Discussion Thread

Dunno if anyone posted how to do the fake rabona yet:

if youre standing still facing goal at the arena,

tap the right stick left then press foward and cross, then A quickly to cancel it. then hold the tricks button and right on the left stick before u kick the ball

its kind of confusing until u can remember all the buttons to press

Re: FIFA 09 - Discussion Thread

Oh and IMO the freekick ball physics when not doing a power freekick has to be considered a bug, the movement is like that of a 50p plastic football you buy at the beach, it's funny because the rest of the ball physics is absolutely spot on.

I've seen some videos of the freekicks from way back when, and by the look of it they made it possible to get more curl on the ball.

Maybe you could tell me/us a bit more specifically about the physics of the freekicks? Maybe a video at some point? :)

For example, Striking a finesse freekick with Ronaldinho with maximum inside curl so that we can gauge how it looks.

Also, choosing a nobody in the arena (if possible) and striking a freekick with them to see if the curl is big only for the star freekickers.

To be honest, I felt that the curl in FIFA08 was a bit on the "light" side. I've seen Ronaldinho do some pretty rad freekicks in real life, as far as curl goes, something I felt wasn't reflected in 08.

So do explain further if possible, I'm curious. :)
