woah!!!! the 1st to come out to say it publicly. Not even the gunners came out w/ the claim. Maybe taboo, but I hope so Plan M (i think Arsenal won it last before Euro 04 :D

I don't even support Arsenal. What I do support is their fantastic style of football. Liverpool and Chelsea spend millions of pounds on players but still play really boring, negative football. I love what Arsenal is about - exciting, attacking play. It seems that the lads have settled into the stunning Emirates Stadium too. If Man United don't win the title then I hope Arsenal do. On the display of their football so far this season, they deserve lots of credit. :applause:
 
Well,well ,well... great early start 2-0...until the disallow goal credit to Sunderland they did well looks like RVP might lead the goal tally again. Back on top we might not win w/ many clean sheets but 19 goals in 8 games is inviting
 
It was a great game to watch!

Diaby was awful. Apart from the two "goals" he did nohting, and he can't pass, Senderos passes better than him. Clichy and Sagna didn't look good on Sunderland's goals. Hleb and Ade were missing but then Van Persie showed his football. Walcott did great job too, he's sure better than Diaby but i don't think he can start a game yet.

Shay is more consistent than Juicy or Lemon. Would be good to have an Irish representation back (Jennings/Brady :))

Lemon is determined to get back in the squad for next years Euro championships.

The GK situation is something we haven't quite filled since Seaman left. However, the season we played in the CL final, Lemon finally shut up and let his gloves do the talking. He seems to have regressed this season some what.
 
Cesc will get a shout. Boy's only 20 remember, it'll take a while for him to get on the world wide radar in the same way as Ronnie, Ronaldo etc etc etc.

Lehmann's situation is a bit depressing for me. He was a cocky bastard of questionable ability when he first signed, then he became a more muted cocky bastard who happend to be one of the best keepers in the world. Remember the 04/05 FA cup final? Immaculate. And the CL run to the final?

Now he seems to be this cantankerous old fart who's arrogance is seriously hampering his chances of getting some playing time. You have to think Wenger knows Jens is a superior keeper to Al technique-wise, but does Jens' ego rock the boat too much when he's in the side ala Henry last season?

As I said, depressing, as he's my favorite Arsenal keeper ever. He's like the classic comic book villain everyone loves to hate. You don't get characters like him that often these days! :p

anyone can see van der vaart fit inthe arsenal squad maybe replacing rocicky? I mean were in a good mood right now but dont think this will last the whole season.
 
Yeah he has on and off injuries but lets be honest he is a great player. Maybe we need cover for left midfield but Rosicky ain't being replaced, he is part of our future.
 
Arsenal move to prevent takeover

Arsenal's directors have taken steps to prevent any attempt to take over the club in the immediate future.
They have extended a "lock-down" agreement on the sale of shares.

It means directors can only sell to "permitted persons" before April 2009 and must give fellow board members first option until October 2012.

The move follows Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov's recent declaration of an interest in adding to his 23% shareholding in the club.

Earlier this month, he said he would continue to buy shares if other major shareholders wanted to sell and the price was right.

But chairman Peter Hill-Wood insisted: "Members of the board are committed long-term shareholders, and to strengthen the current position they have entered into a new agreement which replaces the existing lock-down agreement.

"Under the new agreement, the board members have agreed not to dispose of any of their interests in the club before April 18, 2009, other than to certain permitted persons, such as close family.

"After that date, for the remainder of the term of the agreement, they can only sell their shares to another person if the other parties to the agreement do not wish to buy them.

"The agreement is for five years although it can be terminated early by the parties on its third anniversary [18 October 2010]."

The original "lock-down" came after former vice-chairman David Dein left because of "irreconcilable differences".

Dein is believed to have backed American businessman Stan Kroenke taking control of the club.

Kroenke has since acquired a 12.2% stake in Arsenal, while Dein has sold his 14.5% share to Usmanov, whose Red and White Holdings Limited company has built up their holding to 23%.

Hill-Wood added in his AGM statement: "There has been much recent media coverage surrounding the share ownership of the group, following the arrival of two new major shareholders in the past year.

"I would like to take this opportunity to emphasise to all shareholders that the Arsenal board is committed to the principle of developing the long-term stability of the club through maintaining a business that pays its own way."

BBC sports editor Mihir Bose believes that once Usmanov gains a 25% share of Arsenal, the current board would not be able to change the way the club is run without his say-so.

Usmanov, 54, has a reputed personal wealth of £2.7 billion. He owns the massive industrial conglomerate Metalloinvest.

Arsenal hit by Van Persie setback

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie will be out for a month after injuring his knee playing for Holland on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old, who had scored four goals in his last three games for the Gunners, limped off against Slovenia.

"We will know later how bad it is but the early signs are he will not be able to perform for us the next four weeks.

"It is a big blow. I hope he will be back soon and we'll do the maximum to get him back," manager Arsene Wenger told the club's official website.

Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos faces two weeks on the sidelines after picking up a back injury playing in Switzerland's midweek friendly against the USA.

But defender William Gallas, goalkeeper Jens Lehmann and midfielder Tomas Rosicky have been declared fit for Saturday's home Premier League match against Bolton.

Van Persie will miss a number of key fixtures as the Champions League restarts next week and Arsenal face Liverpool and Manchester United back to back after the Bolton match.

hmmm replace probably wasn't the word i was looking for... more like back up... Diaby's been good, but he's not exactly a Rosicky/Pires type player... other than his injuries... yes, i agree he's fantastic ;)

and about RVP being out... fck... well, guess Eduardo can show us his goal scoring abilities now =)
 
RVP being out is a blow, but its time to see if Eduardo is up to it. He's due a league goal and can't stop scoring for Croatia so its time...Plus Bendtner can actually shut that big gob of his and do some talking on the pitch.

RVP's injury hasn't been properly assesed yet so fingers crossed it ain't as bad as first thought.
 
I say strenghten the team by addin van der vart and podolsky and rumours about fabregas leaving for real madrid is kind of becoming reality.
 
Why would Fabregas leave? He is a superstar at Arsenal - the fans love him and he really likes living in London. He will stay.

WHat planet are you on?

He will leave for Spain at some stage in his career, I have no doubt about that but for the next 4/5 years he his ours AND he just signed a 8 year contract recently. When he does eventually leave the transfer fee will be enormous!
