So what you are actually saying then Peter is that if you were a pro footballer you would rather be playing in the UEFA cup next season as opposed to the Champions League?
 
For a Frenchman he might see things differently. UEFA Cup doesnt eliminate our history or reputation. Look at Bayern, they got Ribery and Toni after finishing 5th and now theyre heavyweights again. Some would say Bundesliga isnt much better than Ligue 1, but they both enjoy themselves.

ANyway, come on now guys, seriously, lets end this subject.

I agree with Milanista, it's useless to continue this discussion in the Arsenal thread. Obviously Arsenal fans are too biased to have a reasonable discussion...

Leave it out Gerd we are not biased. You just cannot see our view on it. Flamini suggested money wasn't his motivation, thats why this "discussion" started in the first place.

Its got nothing to do with bias or be-littling Milan. Its about footballing reasons why he would want to leave. Past glories surely do not come into it. On a footballing level for Flamini I really don't see Milan as a step up. He will be a small fish in a big pond playing in the UEFA Cup. With us, he would have CL football next season. Nuff said.
 
I'd rather play at Arsenal than AC Milan at the moment.

1. Champions League football.
2. Beautiful modern stadium.
3. One of the best coaches in the world.
4. Best & toughest league in the world.
5. Beautiful style of football.
6. London is a vibrant place to live.
7. The team are all in their 20s and will only get better. Milan are a bunch of old has-beens.

I started this discussion because apparently Flamini is seen as a traitor by some Arsenal fans here. I took the example of Makoun and another player (don't remember which one) who are rumoured that they are coming to Arsenal and asked why those players were not seen as traitors...this seemed a natural move.

One of the Arsenal fans said that Makoun (and the other one) went to bigger club and Flamini not...i disputed that. I merely said that IMHO Milan is the bigger club.

And funnily everybody who is not an Arsenal fan agrees with me (look at the posts). So let's agree to disagree, but please don't say that you guys are not biased...i don't even blame you...

Perhaps i shouldn't have started this discussion...maybe it would be better if i never visited club threads...A rational discussion is never possible with fan. And to say that i really liked the football Arsenal played this year...every time i saw them on television i supported them and this for somebody whose favourite English team is Spurs (and no, i'm not at all influenced by that stupid rivalry...). I am even disappointed that Flamini leaves Arsenal. I prefer Arsenal to Milan.
 
Well Milan are a bigger club so maybe we have our wires crossed here. I just fail to see why on a footballing level he would go to Milan thats all. Money has EVERYTHING to do with his move.
 
Well as we are seeing that this discussion isnt going anywhere, and as gerd says we are biased, i'll say that AC Milan, instead of being a bigger club than Arsenal, is actually more successful than Arsenal. They have won more things than us, and u guys are successful at many things, well thats the whole thing i'll say. I dont think its about bigger and smaller now.

and regarding Flamini, well hes not like Cashley who says openely that he went for money. Its very obvious he moved to Milan for money. If hes a half-italian, and doesnt care about money, why didnt he go to Juventus, when they were on the verge of signing him. Infact, he was even a Juve supporter as a kid. Now, if he had joined Juventus, who have won much more Italian cups than Milan(28 i guess), then it would be loyalty. Joining Milan, is just for money, and pure money. Unless we found out that he even found a new girlfriend in Milan and that was another reason :-pp. I'm very very sure that if Chelsea had given him a bigger offer, he would have moved there!!

1. Say what you want, AC Milan still has more chance of winning the Champions League in the next few years than Arsenal.

5. That's won them nothing in 4 years. AC Milan play beautiful AND effective football (apart from this season).

7. Pato, Gourcuff, Paloschi, Borriello? Gallas, Silva, Almunia are all 30+. Toure is 27, Rosicky will turn 28 this year.

Not to mention, that besides all this, to any non-Englishman, AC Milan is a bigger club than Arsenal.
 
Its a matter patience IMO. Arsenal are currently in a better position but you have to ask yourself, can they improve on it? I get the feeling that they've been trying harder and harder every year but they've kinda hit a wall and it makes you wonder if they'll get better any time soon. I personally believe that if they were gonna improve, they definately would have by now. I dont mean in terms of players and the squad they have but their mentality and style of play. Take Chelsea for example. They have that never say die attitude but lack the beautiful football, Arsenal on the other hand have the football and not the attitude. I thought we had a good balance of both and that won us the double. rather than signing new players that fit their system, Wenger needs to look at the way his team is playing and see what changes he could make there. And in terms of signing players, he needs to start looking for players with presence, character and strong mentality, kinda like a captain figure. He has all the raw talent in the world so why does he continue to sign players like that? He needs leaders and players who lead by example now. This ties in with what I said earlier about how Arsenal should have stuck with Lehmann cuz of his presence.
I know I'm kinda rambling on a bit but my point is, Arsenal is a better option for any player at the moment cuz their in a better position, better league, etc (basically all the things Plan M listed above) but you have to wonder if they'll make any huge steps towards improving. It looks like they're progressing a little too slow for a top 4 team IMO cuz I dont think they're "doing it right". So if you sign for Arsenal, you're joining a great club but I can see players getting frustrated in a few seasons.
Milan on the other hand are starting a lot lower down but are smarter than this and show some hope of improvement. If they didnt, I dont think players as great as Kaka would still be there. This is exactly why Gerrard was threatening to leave Liverpool a few years ago too. He was frustrated with the lack of improvement the team is showing. I think Torres has brought a bit of hope with him but give it another two years without a trophy and you can bet your life on him putting in a transfer request.
Thats just the way it is in football. You'd rather play for a lower team that has hope then a top team without hope.

I think Arsenal will progress nicely (Hopefully - we will see who is bought in the summer). We were not that far off of Man U for the League (4 points)- Were very unlucky against Liverpool in the Champions league.

I do agree though - we need some players with Guts and Purpose. I don't think Gallas is a good Captain and thats the first thing that needs to be addressed I think.

But this season all depends on how quickly our new players adapt to our Team and the league. But Fingers crossed we will be ok :DD
 
Currently if i was in that position i would rather play for Arsenal BUT Milan is IMO the bigger club and with that if both where in the Champions League Milan would definetly be the better choice but their not so we'll have to wait and see who is more successful.
 
rushilhalflife - Many people will say Milan is a 1000 times better city than Turin. Turin can be very cold and grey compared. Juventus werent fully committed with negotiations since they also targeted Xabi Alonso. I think we showed more interest, so it made him more certain about his decision.
 
holly shit! you're making Henry jealous. the greatest scorer of all time for Arsenal left two years ago and they're wasn't such a disscution.
frankly, if I was Wenger I would have sacked him last year.

are Nasri and Makoun comming?
 
I never said anything about the weather in Milan. I frankly dont know anything about the weather. But about being committed, i used to see only and only Juventus related to Flamini, even before we played Milan at San Siro in CL. I even read that Juve prez came to London to speak with him. I read about Milan being interested in Flamini only after we beat you in the CL, and Flamini had one of the best performances.

So, according to me, Milan started chasing Flamini only after the CL game and also becoz of a statement made by Juve president that AC Milan have no chance of CL next season, and they will sign him at all costs. But then suddenly came the offer of 3M for him, and he turned to you guys. anyways, doesnt matter to me, where he went, i just didnt want him to leave us. I'm over it now though.

Nasri, hopefully will take care of Flamini's position i guess. He usually plays AMF, but we got Fab, so i guess he'll play as a DMF and attack also.

Maybe Flamini fully expects Milan to qualify for the Champions League the following year. Yes seriously, I would join Milan over Arsenal.

I fully expect Milan to rebuild and go on stronger, learning from their mistakes. And maybe Flamini has the patience to do so to.

And No, the Premiership isn't the best league in the world. Jeebus.

Hleb is a pussy, whats the big difference between London and Milan. I mean, both are chaotic, both noisy and all the stupid talks of his. Jeez Both are big cities. Forget Hleb, his reasons, only he can understand them. I'm still not sure whether he really is going to Inter, coz even Barca and Real are interested in him.

Milan, obviously and for sure are going to rebuild, they are going to be successful, and they are pretty good. But Juventus are good too. Who knows, they might win the CL next season. Juventus had already qualified for CL, whereas Milan wasnt sure, and now theyr not. If he really wanted trophies, he could have been at Juventus too.

And comeon Peter, you always talk about an option between AC Milan and Arsenal, you will obviously choose Milan coz ur not an Arsenal fan. I would choose Milan if i get an option between Liverpool or AC Milan. if you ever get an option to play either for Liverpool or AC Milan, will you still go for Milan?? Flamini was a Juve supporter when he was a kid and he had the option to choose Juventus or AC Milan?? Now what will a real fan do??

Oh yeah, that's the best for us to do. Just forget it. The guy who had the brilliant squad Milan had last season, finished 5th and kept insisting in Pippo Inzaghi upfront is a "far superior" coach. I will just take this as a joke from a Liverpool fan and call it a day here :)
 
Just so you know Rentboy, Inzaghi scored something like 10 goals in 4 matches. Hence being considered for Italy! Anyway, both are world class coaches, and both have done great things. Leave it at that FFS GUYS!!!
