I'm with Bobby here. Plus, it was Wenger who took Fabregas to Arsenal and made him a star, as he's done with many other players. Though I agree the lack of some star signing has prevented Arsenal from doing the last and definitive step. But with the budget he has, he's doing great.

I really really hope that if Cesc comes to Barcelona you find some very good replacements.

And though I love Arsenal, I wouldn't like Touré to go to London. He's the best DMF in the world in my oppinion WHEN he's fit and focused. I would prefer to send Busquets to the Emirates. Well, actually I would send Busquets anywhere if I could.

I think the main reason to stay with Wenger right now is that he's the best manager for the current squad and the current style of play. The only one that could do his job is Van Gaal, in my oppinion, but you wouldn't like how he talks to people.

Mourinho for me is definitely NOT the man I would like to see at the emirates. At all. Plus, he only goes to clubs that put him hundreds of millions of euros to sign people.

Had wenger bothered to fucking replace adebaour and toure plus add backup experienced singing to the club then we wouldnt do as bad as we did.

If fab goes. you reckon replacing him will all of a sudden put us in a better position? LOL no. why? because we needed a CM even before fabregas wanted to leave so if he leaves we now need 2, yes 2 CM's to cover fab AND add some depth in our squad.

Note the word depth. If your squad has a good depth it can survive with 5-6 players out. Just ask United mate.

I prefer if wenger was sacked, not wenger handing in his notice as if he does that, he would be dodging the bullet jumping ship before his reputation is tarnished.

Us winning those titles early on his career is quickly becoming a fluky 3-4 seasons wenger had back then.

Also, i know spurs have been pumping money into there team but we need to do teh same. Wenger hasnt done a "fantastic job with these youngsters. far from it. Why? Besides not winning fuck all, which youngster not included from last gen(henry, hleb flamini, fab, van persie) has really flourished?

Dont mention fab because he started his career really early and was part of the side which had viera and henry in it. same goes for van persie.

im talking about the otehr youngsters that have been trained up for the last 3-4 seasons ie diaby, denilson, ramsey, bendter, eduardo,nasri etc etc,

how many of them would walk into the united team? How many of those players are world class? the answer i can predict coming off of your head is a big fat ZERO.

there all average/SHIT. Finishing 3rd or 4th doesnt mean wenger has done a "fantastic" job.

All I will say is I hope the majority of our fans aren't as ruthless as you, because I don't want to be associated with fans that keep calling for peoples heads, because they think that we have a god given right to win trophies.

You want success in the materialistic form which is nice and so do I, but not at the cost of our future growth, which is what I think will happen if someone like Mourninho comes in.

In 13/14 years wenger has been here he has 3 prem titles, 4 Fa Cups. you know the thing Chelsea are creaming themselves about...winning the double?, Arsene has done that twice?
one of those prems he went the whole season unbeaten? So please have a bit more respect for the man.

Alex ferguson is one in a million, he has dominated the prem. It is a very very hard thing to do. Who is the second most successful manager in the prem? Arsene that's who.

So you keep pissing and moaning about not winning trophies. While I will enjoy us competing for the prem, being in the top club compition in the world going to the pub with my uncles and my dad for Champions league games and enjoying our football. hopefully in the end we will win some more trophies and I am sure we will.

We don't and aren't. And for the record the gooners are very grateful for Wenger, not that it needs to be said.

Also who else is really excited about the switch for Toure? If it happens I'll be a very happy fan.

He's totally different person compared to Wenger, yes. But he's a winner. And Arsenal just seem to lack the winning mentality that Mourinho could bring. If you ask me, it perfect for both parties cuz Mourinho wants to come back to England but not to Chelsea. And people in Liverpool dont like him so that only leaves us lot and Arsenal as his only options. As for him needing money, he hasnt spent that much at Inter considering how much money he got back with the Ibra/Eto'o deal.
I know Arsenal like to play beautiful football but with Fabregas on his way out, you're not left with many world class players of that calibre. So you're gonna have to say goodbye your style of play sooner or later and use something that's effective.

what future growth? nasri and co aint baby's anymore and when we won titles guess why? we had "experienced" players in our side. not a side full of useless kids. why do i freak out? because were going backwards thats why. have we beaten a single top side this season? Nope.

a few years back we could but not only are top teams beating us but there beating us good and proper.

You say your hapy we play in the champions league but imo the more we stick with wenger the more likely we will become as shit as liverpool. Your quick to forget the time we almost blew 4th a few years ago.

Morinho is the man to put arsenal back into title challengers. his not a stubborn person. he will play a certain way depending on the team to make sure he gets a result but wenger wont regardless. no plan B for wenger.

As a neutral i think swapping Touré (+ money) for Fabregas would be a great deal for Arsenal. It seems Barcelona are not that good in similar deals (look at the Eto'o-Zlatan deal, Inter clearly made the best deal).
I rate Fabregas very high, but i don't really see him fit in the Barcelona team...maybe a DMF instead of Busquets, but to me Touré is certainly the better player.
Concerning Arsenal: if Fabregas leaves Arsenal, then Nasri could become an even better play maker.

And about Wenger: this men deserves a statue for what he did for Arsenal. He's won silverware and did it with style. Best manager in the world IMO.
 
Reading your posts Jonney, it sounds like we have a team filled with crappy players and almost got relegated this season. Sure the end of the season got us frustrated, but youre way over the top Jonney....waaay over.

i thought Pepe is the best manager in the world? Swapping Fab with toure is an OK deal nbut not the best because like i said, if fab goes we need TWO yes TWO new CM's and you can bet your mortage that so called extra cash will go towards the stadium.

Im looking at it from the whole picture, not just this season but the past 4-5 shit seasons we have had. For fucksakes spurs nearly overtook us in 3rd place. Thats how bad shit has become for us.

Piss about again next season and you will see us end up like liverpool. Why not do something about it now instead of waiting for us to finish outside the top 4? either wenger fucks right out of arsenal now or he spends big this summer.

I have to answer!!

We did compete up until the last month of the season, when we had to do with our 4th and 5th choice central defenders and without our captain. Bendtner was also out who had to take over from Van persie for most of the season (and I thought he did well). Although Van persie was back at the end of the season, he had just been out all season. So wasn't anywhere near his best.

Everybody agrees that the last month was fucking shit, the players should have played better and showed more passion. But we are not far off of being a really good team.

You say man U and chelsea etc deal with their injuries better, but if Man U didn't have rooney this season and Chelsea didn't have Drogba, who would have got all their goals? it's all ifs and buts but you have to take it all on board. Also if they had the 4th and 5th choice central defenders playing for over a month? i'm sure they wouldn't have done so well.

You say we should have more strength in depth, when you see stories of Man United and Chelsea paying around 16-20million for the likes of Jack Rodwell from Everton, then you can see what Arsene has to deal with. We can't afford to splash out that much on future talent. So Wenger has to try and bring them up through the youth system.

Man United, Chelsea and now Man city can whip out 30-40 million pounds whenever they want on a player. We Can't do that.

We had Van persie out for most of the season, we missed him dearly. You can't ignore that. Now Wenger has brought in Chamkah to have a bit more quality cover.

Hopefully he will get us a good keeper. As a huge reason we didn't do as well in my opinion, was from the uncertainty at the back. I am praying he trys to resolve this. But last season Almunia looked good and was doing well, who would have thought he would be so shit so soon?

Again if Wenger doesn't address the areas where we feel it is blatant we need something and then we do shit next season, then I will think we might need to part with Wenger.

You don't want us to compete, you want us to win trophies at any cost Jonney, so don't try and say anything else.

The team you support...you should be ashame...we've been supporting the best team in watch in the EPL possibly in the world since I prefer watching an Arsenal game instead of Barca simply cause Arsenal play a little bit faster...Arsenal are competing every year...we get better and better every year...Wenger understand now after 3 year that he need a deep squad in order to go further.

we will challenger like we always do, the talent is there the ambition is there, the kids just need to mature and some quality here and there.

Wenger is a Solid coach, if not one of the best.

If you want a team that win by defending like they have no idea how to play football support Inter my friend...(no disrespect)but that style of play will never be played at the Emirates.

When Henry left we stopped winning trophies and competing for the title.if cesc leaves, all attention will be brought on van persie and the cycle continues.

its a fact guys. nearly every top team as "The Player of the team". barcelona have messi, united have rooney etc etc. Take out messi and rooney from their respectful sides and you will see a impact on the way both sides play.
 
Yeah I can't really see any "advantage" of losing Cesc, Henry was different and comparable with our loss of Ruud while Cesc falls in the Ronaldo category of a talismanic player whose only 23, his presence will be missed as much as his ability.

We would rather not lose Cesc. But most of us are being realistic and trying to think of the positives that might come out of it. While some of us are just freaking out and going over the top.

We have had many great players over the years, they come and go. There is no point having a player that doesn't want to play for us and play for another team.

So people just need to suck it up and see what happens. There is no point going crazy.

We don't have lots and lots of money to spend. We have a few weak areas, so if we sell Fabregas for loads of money and treat the areas we are weak in and stregthen the team as a whole, that can be a great thing.

To say Wenger will not use the money that we get from Fabregas is silly. That argument has no foundation. People went nuts over the money we got for Adebayor and toure 'Where did that money go?!' people exclaimed. They totally forget about the purchases of Vermaelen and Arshavin?

People have short memories, sadley they believe things that papers spout out without looking at the facts and actually looking deeper into things. They don't try and think of other reasons things happen, they just react.

Anyway if we lose Fab. Don't get a good player in midfield to compensate (not replace as that will be near enough impossible) and we don't get a keeper and another defender and we don't do well next season. Then I will question whether Wenger has enough to carry on the job at Arsenal. But until that happens I wont overeact about things i really don't know about and don't know what is going to happen.

But I do think Nasri can play the Fab role. Will he ever be as good? maybe not. But hopefully we get stronger players with the money in other areas, so we don't just have one talisman player, but we actually have a team that all take responsibility and have the passion to play for the club.

ok so where did the money go when we sold Henry and hleb? are we so poor that we can only buy players of we sell first ? what if fab stays were will we get the money to buy players?

Just had a quick look (not sure if info is fully correct? but it can't be far wrong.)

When we sold henry the transfers in were;

Sagna
Eduardo
Fabianski

plus a couple of others.

When we sold Hleb the transfers in were;

Vela
Ramsey
Nasri (That cost the same amount as Hleb left for, I think?)


So that shows we are spending money.

But we did invest in a big state of the art stadium that has reduced our spending power. The credit crunch hit us as we were depending on selling all of the apartments that were built (that have all recently been sold).

We are gaining the benifits now of our stadium, but we are still paying off a huge loan.

you need to take that all into consideration. We were not spending from a mixture of not having alot of money because of our situation and also Wenger not spending (although he has bought in quite a few players) because he had/has faith in his young team.

Now we are in a bit more of a better financial situation, it seems wenger has a bit more money available. i reckon it is around 30million from what I have heard (pure specualtion though) which doesn't buy much these days. But if we sell Fab hopefully for 40-50mill we have a bit of a war chest to buy around 3/4 quality players that I think we need.
 
So if we have 30m now and another 40m for selling fab we will have 70m to buy players right?

How much more we owe for the emirates? cant be that far off? have we at least paid over half of the stadium or not yet?
 
Not sure of the numbers but it was 100s of millions to build. So we are probably no where near paying it all off. there will be a certain minimum paid off every year and then if we have extra over, then they may use it to pay it off quicker.

The quicker we get out of debt, the better will will be. But it doesn't mean we won't have more money to spend in the next few years. i think the main problem was selling the apartments, every month we didn't sell them we lost money.

be interesting to know the actual figures etc. might seee if I can have a look.

But the stadium being built is a huge positive. It brings in so much money. Not just on match days but all through the year.

I used to walk past the Emirates every day and there was countless conferences and events being held there. It has been built not only to house a great pitch and seating. But also to make money, with many areas to make money from.

No matter what, the future is bright for us. maybe not in the next couple of years (although I think it can be), but the bigger picture is we are run very very well.

I do hope we spend this summer on quality and I hope we do well next season, but I am not going crazy about it.

I think he should invest in a experienced CM who has the bottle to be a "leader" for the team who can go forward and backwards to compliment Nasri and Song as players and their inexperience.

The rest should be on a GK and a CB (or 2 if Gallas leaves). Sort the injuries out and you have a team capable of challenging.

A midfield commander, you say. Diaby still hasn't worked, so if Fabregas goes then all signs point to Yaya as the CM we need.
