for dmf position we had 3 choices that went to other teams: kompany, de jong, yaya toure. those chances have been wasted a couple of years ago, economically justified though.
for dmf: alou diarra is still an option.
1 good solid gk is needed, no prospects, no "will turn very good in future's"
1 good cb is also needed to join alongside vermaelen. with sol and djourou as backups we're good.
isn't senderos still ours? he might be finally sold to add some more cash to spend. i'd also sell fabiasnky too.

Gourcuff went over my head, yeh that could happen but I think you need someone to help the blend between defence and attack (Diaby is good going forward but not good enough going backwards)

If you could get someone like Melo cheap then that'd be worth a punt.
 
One player that would suit you well is "Henrique", playing right now in Brasil, they call him "ganso". He's a good blend of deffense and attack for the midfield. Against him, he should get used to European football. first.
 
I think he's more creative though, I think he's been called the "Brazilian Zidane" good talent no doubt though.
 
maybe its time for ramsey or wilshere to take over that attackin midfield spot I think the way wilshere played at bolton, he is capable of improving the team and become world class. I would have called him up to the WC..=p
 
Arsenal need a player like Van Bommel. A "bastard" who has winning mentality and a leader on the pitch.

Was mentioning him the other day, yea he would suit well at Arsenal but YoungGun is right he is more offensive, but that would be a problem cause they'll need a guy with vision and talented players always fits the Gooners.

But honestly I'd like to see them going for more estabilish players, like Marseille went for Lucho while some English clubs thought he was overpriced.
Instead of future potential they should go for best players of non giant clubs, guys that feel they could do more in a side like Arsenal. (e.g. Diego Milito/Inter)
I'm sure a lot of players would be attracted to them.
Although if you think about it Arshavin is one of those cases and he never fully delivered solid performances, but signings are gambling and I would mix mine.

That would be a great idea! And get Alou Diarra as well while you're at it and then along with Chamakh, you have crippled Bordeaux into a mid-table team and Arsenal into genuine title contenders. :D

Would be awesome but knowing Wenger, he won't even get one of them let alone all 3. :(

And of course they would cost a LOT! Unlike Chamakh, they won't come for free.

But seriously, these would be great acquisitions and they all know each other and are friends as well and would click especially considering all the Arsenal french connection.

As for the whole Jose ---> ARsenal thing, not only do I think that's not a good idea anyway, why the hell would Mourinho come there? I can't see it happening at all! If he was to leave Inter, it would only be for Real Madrid. And maybe maybe down the line to Man Utd as Fergie's successor or something.

As for winning mentality bastard, strong presence, Alou Diarra has it. And it's time perhaps for exiting Ligue 1 after many good seasons there.
 
I agree about Van Bommel. Precisely, I put him as an example in another thread.

According to this, maybe a another good signing for Arsenal, in my oppinion, would be Lass Diarra if Madrid is going to sell him. It will be a low price for a very good player who's been strangely underrated this year. I can't understand how Touré and Lass weren't always on the pitch for their respective teams.

But take for example Touré. Barcelona signed him 3 seasons ago from Shaktar Donetsk for less than 10 M€. It's a proof there are great great players around Europe. You just have to gamble for the right one for your team.

And yes him and Lass Diarra as well as Alou Diarra are all great. But Lass already had a short spell with Gunners after leaving Chelsea. Doubt he'd be coming back.

but we missing the fact that AW is surely focused on a CB and maybe a GK. I don't think DMF position is a priority to him.

Agh, sorry, from Monaco! He was in shakhtar the year before. But anyway he was not a known and stablished player, and he had great performances since the start, so it shows Wenger could make a terrific team signing promising players, he only needs to top it with 1 or 2 important signings of veteran (not necessarily old) players.

Just read their financial status this morning, and they're in the tune of £480m in debt - hence one of the new presidential candidates stating that Barcelona need sponsorship on their shirts to generate the money required - i'm dismissing Unicef, as that is a charity.

Therefore, you take a step back and look at this. Barcelona have just splashed out £40m on Villa, plus the wages - you're now looking at Barcelona being half a billion in debt. Therefore, you look to Fabregas, and try to coax him to come out and state his decision to want to go - hence, Barcelona, can try to bargain on the price. Plus, they try to chuck in some of their dead weight, and save more on wages etc.

In the past we've let 'stars' walk to Barcelona, and what have they done? Not really set the world alight. I do understand some of these players were in the twilight of their careers, but here is one player who has his best years to come. But what guarantee that he remains there in the long term?

Look at Hleb - fantastic for Arsenal, now discarded by Barcelona.. Henry, not the same player, Overmars never replicated the same form, nor did Petit. Extend this to Anelka at Real, and Flamini at Milan.

Sure the cash if greener, but the grass never tends to be.

I think it would be a mistake for Fab to join Barca now. But it is his dream to play for them and he has been very respectful of Arsenal and has gone about things the right way so far. hopefully he doesn't piss all over that.

Barca seem to think because Fab used to be with them 8 years ago they should get some discount :LOL: what a crock of shit. He won't leave for less than 40-50 million I guess. He has about 6 years left on his contract, he is our captain and best player. Why would we sell him for 30million?! They need to wake up. maybe 30million and a couple of decent players?

Suprised to hear they are in so much debt, taking into account this and the purchase of villa and the fact they haven't even made a move for fab yet. It all seems a bit less likely to happen this year?

Anyway he still might go, but there is no way they are going to get him for 30mill or less :DD
 
I truly think you're not being very respectful at all with some, and I don't get why you got so surprised Cesc wants to go to Barcelona. He was raised there, he lived there, all his family and friends are there. He's going to earn more money and at short term be able to get some trophies.

As much as he loves Arsenal (and he does indeed), it's only natural that he wants to go to Barcelona. He's done it right and has never spoken in public. In my oppinion, he's behaving like a professional, as he is.

He went away at 16 like Pique, when Barcelona ha elections (Laporta won) and the previous president let some youngsters go away for burocracy problems (good old Gaspart, worse president ever). What chance of first team football could have given the club to Cesc at that age? It was an economical problem, Arsenal was offering him a professional contract while Barcelona had no president (elections) and he decided to take the money.

Now, I understand it may hurt to see that one of your beloved players can go away. We all have suffered this, but I don't get why you have to treat Cesc like this.

On the comments about barcelona, of course it will cost a lot. Cesc is a wonderful player and may cost a lot. Even if we get some debt that won't stop the next president to bring Cesc if Laporta doesn't do it before (we have a lot less debt than Madrid, Chelsea, Man Utd or Liverpool). It's a political thing right now, as I expressed before. I think barcelona will end up offering around 50 M€. It's Arsenal decision to sell him or not, it's not as if barcelona put a gun on their heads.

About the debt, it's not that big if you consider the yearly results. I mean, the debt was created on the Gaspart era, Laporta inherited almost all of this debt. In the last seasons, we have had benefits every year. It would be a lot different if we had losses every year, like Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool or Madrid. Plus, Barcelona is near to complete some real state operations that would grant them a lot of money and image and TV rights are going to be renegotiated soon, which makes a LOT of money.

Barca are trying to get Fabregas to come out and say categorically that he wants to leave Arsenal right now. Then Barcelona then think they can offer a much reduced price. If Fabregas goes down this route, then it starts getting a bit murky and can result in bad feeling, which obviously Fab doesn't want to have when he leaves Arsenal. But if Fab feels his only way to move is to say these things, then he might just do it, which will be a shame.

I like Barcelona and the way they play, but when they want a player, they are very underhand.
 
As a United fan, I think I can quite comfortably say I have an idea of how you're feeling. My only advice is to let it go. No one should be forced to keep a job if they have an offer they'd prefer somewhere else. It only ends badly.

Cesc has never shied away from saying he wants to return home, and he's been an amazing player for Arsenal. I don't get what else you want from him?

O He can fuck out of our team but for 80m+ anything less then that and fab can fucking rot in the reserves.

People are forced to keep their agreements via CONTRACT. fab aint working perm job where all he has to do is give a months notice, he is stuck with us until his contract is finished or someone buys him with money thats = to his level of skill and lets face it, we can easily get 70+m for him nowadays.

im hearing talk that messi is worth 200m? Is messi twice as good as fab?

The year goes on, Barcelona makes a good campaign while arsenal don't win shit all year. He is fragile and when he sees a club that wants him, that loves him and which he feels the same, winning silverware while he keeps playing in "Wengers playground" and fragile due to broken promises, its obvious that you feel a lot tempted to go back to your roots.
If you want to blame some1, blame Arsenals direction for turning themselves into the 4th club in england and an academy for europe. How much longer will you wait until you win something? Hope some king of messi or maradona is born in the academy? Come on, you need to invest otherwise you will eventually fall behind $hity and that would be ashame because i really am into Arsenal. Fabregas quite clearly respects Arsenal, the problem is he wants to win things and I think this season was the final straw. Your not likely to win things at the moment and theirs nothing wrong with chasing trophies especially when the club you support is numero uno in that department at the moment along with the chance of returning home.

I think theirs a chance he could possibly stay 1 more season in similar vein to Ronaldo did to help Wenger settle the transition. If Barcelona offer 50M though I think he'll go but he won't force his way out like some say as he's already told Wenger he wants to leave and its know upto Wenger to do what he thinks is right.

I ONCE said that Wenger was turning Arsenal into an academy, but never that he was the best manager. In fact i think he as quite a few bad qualities. Defence and transition being the most important ones.
Arsenal lacks a defensive or pressing strategy. Its like they know how to attack, but once they lose the ball, Arsenal players are like headless chickens.
Then there is the transition. Remember when you once had that marvellous team of Campbell, Cole, Patrick, Gilberto, Pires, Ljumberg, Bergkamp, Henry, etc? After that what did you have? Van Persie, Cesc, Flamini, Adebayor, Rosicky? Fact is that Wenger completely failed to make a good transition from that star team, to a new team. It should take about 1/2 seasons to do that, how many years did already pass and you still don't have a proper squad?
I think i made myself clear about Wenger. Not that he is a good manager, he is, but i still consider him more like a "scout-manager" then a team-manager.
 
Jonney is going over the top again, not every Arsenal supporter thinks like him.

Fab has been great for us and very loyal (Arsenal have given him alot of responsibility and treated him very well aswell). He has dealt with the media very well. He has let everybody know he will go at some point to barca, this some point might be now.

So if he goes, Im sure he will go with most of Arsenal supporters best wishes, nobody will be mad with him (as long as he is honest and doesn't lie etc).
