Yeah agree, I think its harsh though to expect him to become a "Great" and the only reason he had that much pressure is because he's English and the media expect world stars with the slightest sign of potential. I think he's at a good club to develop though (unlike the 2 you mentioned Sina) and I think he'll become very good player.
 
Unbelievable, gutted for Arsenal and their fans. Such a crazy mistake and at so late in the match, sickening.

Sums us up though. Pretty equal game overall. Birmingham played totally different than I thought and played well.

So Gutted to lose like that :((

But as I said Birmingham played well, you have to give it to them. We keep chickening it.

Tough loss. Great match for the neutral.

Does anyone know if this means that only 5th place will qualify for Europa? Or is it 5th,6th and Birmingham?

Nothing about boys, the youngest player on our team played the best. The majority are all old enough and have alot of experience. They should have more heart and belief. they have something mentally wrong with them as a team. I was hoping we could win today to get rid of the mental problem we have as a team.

Oh well, still in for other trophies. But I just hope that our players don't let this result effect the rest of the season. Because we have done that in the past and that really would make me angry at the players.
 
i know, wilshere was great. but was referring to their weak mentality. this weakness is so evident in the really important moments.

Kind of agree with that. Arsenal still have an easier run in than United. This time next week things could look very different.

Not sure how winning the league will change my statement? I just find it amusing how Arsenal were FINALLY going to stop the drought and then they lose.
 
fucking pathetic. and people laughed at me for suggesting we sack wenger years ago. i will however reserve judgement until the end of the season and if we dont win fuck all i want wenger and the rest of these fucking wenger fanboys to fuck right off.

i dont give a shit if we won loads 20 years ago with wenger, he aint done fuck all for LONG time and deserves the chop if he cant deliver this season.

enough is enough. we are fastly becoming a fucking joke of a club.

Come on...this isn't a moment for gloating. Winning in style is an art you still have to learn obviously.
Arsenal may well beat Man Utd for the title, i wonder how much games Rooney will be banned for his obvious elbow agtainst Wigan. Only Man Utd gets away with it.

To Arsenal fans: this could be a blessing in disguise...it's only the league cup.
Hope Arsenal wins the title.

Gerd - if only Man Utd get away with poor officiating, how do you explain Birmingham's lack of a penalty and red card today? Was that United's fault too?

And you'll find United won't get away with it, making the Rooney elbow and the Ben Thatcher assualt the only two times in the past decade that the FA will overrule the on the field referee's decision.
 
On a serious note, your record against the smaller/lower league teams in the league and cups has been pretty poor this season.

You had a chance to break this poor recent trophy record handed to you on a silver platter and fluffed it so there are still some question marks over your winning mentality and/or lack of it in recent seasons.

Of course, this kind of criticism might all be meaningless come the end of the season.
 
Well there will be two consequences after this lost match!!
1.Arsenal drop down and start to lose next games!!
2.Arsenal pick themselfs up and wins the titel!!
I hope the second will hapen!! But........you never know its ARSENAL......

And i am realy frustrated by this match i was waiting for this match with such happines and joy but Arsenal blow it...

And when i see Fabregas siting and chewing his gum at the last minutes i think he was thinking:"Fuck this I am going to Barcelona!!!"

We are second in the Prem and have just beaten Barcelona in the champions league. This result was shit, but put it into perspective.

If we get rid of Wenger we could do a birmingham and not win anything for 50years.

Are we a joke of a club? most people respect the way we play, we always qualify to the biggest compitition in the world and we have been in the top 4 of the premier league for all of the seasons we haven't won anything. Jonney you have a weird outlook on things mate.

The Liverpool situation just shows how a few wrong decisions can make a team get worse. You need to give Wenger more respect for keeping us one of the top teams in the world at the moment (im talking in the top 10 probably) especially the way we are run and how we qualify for the champions league every season and do reasonably well.

Even if we get spanked by Barca in the champions league, get knocked out by Leyton Orient in the FA cup and drop to 4th in the league, I still wouldn't want Wenger to leave.

Today was shit, but if there wasn't the most monumental of fuck ups by our defender then who knows what would have happened. Birmingham looked fucked and I'm sure we would have got more joy in extra time, but that is football for you. There is such a thin line between winning and losing unfortunately.

Anyway, lets see how they all respond to this. If they don't respond well then I will be extremely pissed of. As all this talk about them being more mature etc etc will be a load of bollocks. I really hope they pull their socks up and get on with the rest of the season.

God knows Arsenal deserves a title (this drought is so unfair given the quality of the football) but if we analyse this match, Birmingham deserved it. They got ripped off with 2 minutes, hit the post once, played fairly overall and some guys really showed the heart (like the center half Johnson who played though injury most of the time). It felt like they wanted it more than us, so fair play to them.

Fabregas was missed a lot today, as was Theo to a lesser degree. But the main concern is the way it happened today. Many people within the club should get their attitude sorted. You have to want it more to win things.
Like Bobby said, no more space for that "youngster team" rubbish. This is a team who beat Barcelona.

The cock up itself was of the most bizarre nature. You don't see conference clubs doing it. I still don't know who was at fault... Sceszny probably didn't yell for the ball, which would be clear lack of command over his defence. But if he did yell, this obviously would be Kos screwing things up. Damn, both of them were having such a great run of games...
 
Both messed up and are at fault but at end of the day, on that particular incident, I'd blame Szeszny more because after all, he's the one who was supposed to simply stop and pick up that ball with his hands and the position he was in and the ball travelling so slowly, you'd put your $$$ on that but he didn't and ball fell to side. Of course he was distracted by Koszcielny trying to hoof it up but still... I blame goalie first and defender 2nd.

Other than that though, what a goalie this kid is! Really impressed by him so far. Still too early to tell but he looks VERY f'n promising in every match!! And showed his composure and mental strength too, moments later running up to almost halfway line near the side to stop Martins.

As for the match, I have to agree. So many sensible Arsenal fans here. This is one thing I like about this club, it seems on average they have more sensible / less biased fans than most others from what I've noticed (might be just coincidence) but while they're passionate, for the most part, they don't let that passion blind them or make them go crazy or illogical.

I think Birmingham slightly edged it and so deserved it and yeah 2 mins in, that was onside and so should've been a red card and penalty which would've probably made it a fairly one-sided match and a more comfortable victory for the Blues.

Mcleish and his men really wanted that! Arsenal wanted it too but not quite as much!

thing is ... where do we go from here ? Beating Chels at home was immense and to win the 1st leg at home vs Barca was over da` moon.

I literally feel like I woke up in a tub full of ice w/ a note saying "go to the hospital, immediately ! and cheers for the kidneys"

yeah I`m over the top *dramatic it`s the Red Wine, this Cup was my hope . The CL *let`s be real mate and the league title too early to think about it.
 
Bottling a relatively straight forward (with the greatest of respect to Birmingham, a side you beat 3-0 away from home not that long ago) Cup final doesn't bode well in your pursuit of greater honours.

Media talk of a quadruple and Wenger's finished article was amusingly premature.
