So long as people stand by wenger, he aint going nowhere. He wont change either.
i can put a tenenr right now that same story will happen next season.
Anyways to be perfetcly honest with this game, a draw from this result wont be the reason why we lost the title. games like this when the opposing team are on fire and banging in wonder goals is rare and nothing to be ashamed off.
Its the games where you were 4:0 and still fail to win, or 2:0 at half time at home and end up losing the game, etc etc.
Those are the games that lost us the title. not this game. Arsenal played with passion and flair and so did spurs. These games happen where the opposing team matches you stride for stride. This certainly wasnt a game where i would say FUCKSAKES ur pathetic, sack wenger, etc etc. this was a very close game where i feel proud of the performance of our side.
There was flaws today but not large chunks of schoolboy error flaws like previous games. for example that ball to lennon that won the penalty was suspect. a proper organized defense wouldn't get split into pieces from a pass like that. someone was sleeping. about the other two goals, what could you do defensivly? one was a wonder goal and the other was sheer briliant play from spurs.
what could arsenal done to score more? well we tried hitting from long range but gomes made some cracking saves, same as our goalie.
in a nutshell not much wrong with arsenals performance tonight and had we played like that in our previous games we would be a lot closer to man united
Good post jonney, I agree with most of it.
However, I feel we lost just as many points this season due to games like this as games where we didn't seem up for it or made unacceptable mistakes.
I don't have any statistics, but I remember many games this season where we played with passion and completely dominated the opponents, but ended up losing points because of freakish goals, inspiring performances by the opponents goalie, bad calls from refs, or things along that line that really can't be accredited to the team or Wenger's decisions.
For me, those losses were just as hurtful if not more than the the screw-ups by the team like the one against Newcastle.
Also, I don't think it is healthy to blame Wenger for all the lost points due to blunders. I will accept it if someone blames Wenger for games where the game seems hopeless against its fate like the Newcastle match or other games where it just seemed like the team was helpless to change the score. But I fail to see how a mistake by Eboue in the 100th minute of the game is directly Wenger's fault.
If you say Wenger shouldn't have played Eboue, then what about the fact that he scored a couple of games ago against Blackpool to secure our win? These things can go both ways.
I agree that we need more quality in our squad, and some players should really be parted with. But there is really no need to go by these changes in a frustrated and blood-thirsty way. It is easier to demolish things than construct them. While I want some changes, I want it planned carefully.
And yes, Man United has a huge advantage in the league race. But there is 15 points up for grab and only a 6 point difference. We've all seen more bizarre things than a 6 point lead being closed in 5 weeks.
