Just to clarify, I think there is more reason for people to say we will finish out of the top 4 this season, with everything going on and how our squad looks at the moment.

But I still think we will be good for at least 4th :DD

We need reinforcements though, that is the key.
 
I agree that van Persie will be a better captain than Cesc though the downside to that is that his injury record is much worse and so if history is anything to go by, Arsenal's vice captain (whoever that is) will be deputising quite often where as Cesc did play a LOT of minutes every season! More than van Persie. (other than last season with injury) But yeah I like Robin better as captain and think that will improve the team.

I also have to say that I'm a big fan of Szesznsy (Spelling?) and have a LOT of faith in this kid! For me he's already really good for a young goalkeeper and has the confidence, personality to make it to the very top. I think the kid will be a star!

One another note, i remember watching Kos and Vermaelen versus Milan at the 2010 Emirates Cup and thinking they looked very solid. Had high hopes till Vermaelen twanged his achilles.

no it wont define our character. wait till march and see what happenes. we have had great starts to the season over the past 6 years and why have we not won anything? because the true test of character come march-may gets thrown out the window season after season.

Again, i fully expect us to beat united next week.

edit: it cant get any higher then stuffing chelsea and barca last year yet we got battered by bham in the carling cup and the rest as u say is history.

Point? Even if we win all our 4 games THIS early on the season it wont do sweet fuck all to our team confidence coming to the crunch time of the season.

If we cant rise up from beating chelsea and barca, how the hell can u expect us to rise up to beating udinese, liverpool and united?

beating united means nothing to me its the smaller clubs, we beat mutd and they still win the league so united might be good for confidence means f`all really . In our worse run last season we lost every game and beat mutd then to draw n lose the rest :COAT:
 
Vermaelen is our vice-captain, which is a wise choice by Wenger. A great player, with a lot of fight in him, leadership and he hates to lose.

Yeah, Verm and Kos are a great partnership. I don't think either Jagielka or Cahil would enhance our defence anymore. Bring in a good CB as backup and we should be ok, Squil being a distant 5th choice. We sent Kyle Bartley out on loan... maybe he should've stayed?

Regarding Szcz, he has got what it takes to be one of the greats! I really like him too. He's only 19, but look at his personality. I love the fact that he's a bit mental, but not in that way Jens was :D
He's the right guy and I think we might have GK covered.

I'm still worried about LB... word on the street is that Traore will be loaned out again??
Cmon Wenger, we're sitting on money now. One backup CB (could be Scot Dann), possibly a LB... and, erm... 2 world class midfielders, and a backup CF! :D Huge shopping list. If we accomplish half of that we have a chance to stay in 4th until the winter break. Then, I reckon we will see more action. Typical, then our new signings won't be able to play CL for us.
IF we qualify for the CL indeed that is!

I was referring to out and out capitulation in terms of character - not end of season collapse.
 
Yeah, in practical terms it defines whether we're playing Champions League or Europa League.
But more than that, it could change our season. We could build a different mentality. Past seasons we started really well and then collapsed.

This season we could start really shite and get better from March onwards, showing "mental strength" and finishing 4th on a high at least. Oh well.

I think he's saying that because of the recent sale of Fabregas and (Eventual?) sale of Nasri. How do the players immediately respond? How does Wenger respond, even though he more than likely knows what is/will happen already.

I've almost lost the will to care, Wenger will continue to get rid of anyone worth keeping and I can really see both RVP and Wilshire wanting out come next season. Wilshire already looks like the quality of player a title winning side could use a decent amount now and rely on in the future to win more titles. Arsenal need to stop the rot, and that starts and finishes with Wenger at the moment.

This was all plainly obvious when Wenger angered our best wingers, both Reyes and Pires who was just epic for us at that time, have stated one of the major reasons for leaving was being angry over the champs league final. Henry, Reyes, Pires, the whole team (and a select few fans) saw Hleb for what he was, utterly crap. Reyes was very angry at simply being dropped and Pires had been angry and refused to talk to him for years after being subbed off instead of Hleb in the final.

Not to mention taking off Cesc in that game, who was instrumental to us already at that stage, 1-0 up, Cesc goes off, and we collapsed. Ok its not quite that bad but Wenger then till now hasn't learnt that when you're holding a lead taking off your best performer is basically football suicide. He utterly lost it that season, the 49 game unbeaten run, and the champs league final, he's not been the same manager since and he's slowly ripped the squad to pieces.

That 2005-2006 team could have won(with the same tactics) and Pires staying, the title several times since. But we lost our best players, changed tactics, got bad replacements and have gone down hill.

That post is so shit on many levels.

To say Redknapp would do a better job at Arsenal is just laughable. The guy has had more money available to him than Arsene with Spurs and what has he done? he got into the champs league once and couldn't even get into two seasons in a row? Wenger will be in his 15 season in a Row in the Champs league.

Redknapps philisophy is to buy as many players as possible, I think he has one of the biggest squads in the league. It's like he buys 10 players to try them all out and might get a good one out of them. Then the rest go on Loan.

If you think that Redknapp is better than Wenger you need your head testing.

One of the telling things that shows how this post is shit, is him saying 'he would have bought who 'WE' want in earlier' If there were supporters like him deciding what players we bring in, then we would have been relegated years ago. I'd much rather the manager manage the team than the supporters.

His lazy use of 90% of managers etc, just a dick of the highest order.

And the icing on the cake is the, 'i've almost lost the will to care' comment this is the most disgusting thing about the whole post! he is losing his will to support Arsenal because we are not winning things. Arsenal need supporters like him like they need a hole in the head.

Was Reyes one of our best Wingers? my recolection was that he was a complete failure at Arsenal? had a few good games but that was it.

Mentioning the final is shit, Wenger got us there in the first place, we were leading up until around 15-20mins from the end and we had 10 men on the field. He had to make decisions, sometimes they come off and sometimes they don't, but to say he is shit because of that final is ridiculous.

There were so many other reasons that Arsenal haven't won stuff for the last 6 years, but if you want to think it is all Wenger, then fans like this and yourself are very narrow minded.

His fleeting statement that the 2005-2006 could have won the title several times since then is so fucking stupid aswell. Totally disregarding the other teams in the league. Such a simple statement that he just simply doesn't know.

Shit post, shit supporter and one that makes sweeping statements and imo hasn't got a clue :DD

I predict a draw at best tomorrow with Liverpool bringing their best lineup. No Gervinho and no Song means most likely it'll be RvP, Arshavin, and Walcott up front.
 
If we could have our strongest ddefence in, I would think we could get a result tomorrow.

But Suarez and Carrol are going to be a real test, If we get a draw I will be happy at the moment (as I said before)

I would like to seee Ryo at some point tomorrow.

Not having our strongest defence and Song out, it is going to be extremely difficult.
 
we should raid Everton, Jagielka, Baines and Arteta :)) that would be good. I think the Everton fans would riot if that happened :LOL:

Arshavin, Ox, Gervinho, Walcott, Ryo, Joel Campbell... do we really need more wingers?

This is make or break for Wenger, I'm not gonna defend him if we fuck things up. But to forget all the good things he achieved is all too much for me...

I don't trust Wenger anymore and things don't look good at all. But come the end of transfer window, this will be the (thin) squad we have and we must get behind the team. We basically need to brace ourselves for the upcoming months and wait until the next transfer window, cause it seems we won't get deals done in time before Aug 31.

If Jagielka does come, it will be like the signing of Arshavin, that took 2 transfer windows and only happened in the last minute of the deadline. This is ridiculous, that a big club like Arsenal has to go through this.

And now it seems Gunnersaurus will be our only fit Left Back available. Unbelievable Wenger didn't see it coming, after the sale of Clichy... Only ONE league fixture has been played and we already struggle with injuries in that position. It's for such reasons that I've lost my faith in Wenger.

But let's see if the team can overcome this. I won't be watching tomorrow, but hope for the best. Hopefully no dodgy penalties at the last minute too...

Well, Wenger build around Cesc and he`s gone. I wonder who he will pick to be the new surrounded player. Nasri could be massive ,if he stayed. Flamini would be too I`ll even throw in Helb. Wenger might not get trophies ,but he can make a player Top drawer. In a perfect world he can get players to play as 1 . Not every player compliment each other and Wenger doesn`t like to take risk. Buying on cheap is like saying at least I didn`t spend loads on the mug. Those who take the biggest risk gets the biggest lost and sometimes get the biggest wins. SAF takes massive risk but ppl will remember him for wins and only the backroom will remember for all the financial losses.

Nasri is still expected to leave. You can play him even if he's on his way out, no prob. Especially when you have half of your midfielders missing.
