Mangiamoli!
Why is Arsenal linked with Zarate for the post-Nasri era? Don't see much sense in spending money on another attacking player.

)no it wont define our character. wait till march and see what happenes. we have had great starts to the season over the past 6 years and why have we not won anything? because the true test of character come march-may gets thrown out the window season after season.Got to agree - the next 12 days of the transfer window, and the next 4 games - Pool, Udinese, Utd and Swansea will be season defining for the charater of the team. How they play in pressure matches, and furthermore, without being too negative, how they react to a possible exit from the CL, and a loss away to United when coming up against Swansea (no disrespect to the players of Swansea).
They'll either rise to the occassion, or wilt in self-pity. Judging by collapses at end of seasons, the latter looks more the likely. I suspect the next litmus test after that will be the North London derby on Oct 2nd.
I would love it (thanks Keegan) if we put money in to buy Modric.
One another note, i remember watching Kos and Vermaelen versus Milan at the 2010 Emirates Cup and thinking they looked very solid. Had high hopes till Vermaelen twanged his achilles.
Buckle up gooners...tis' a long season ahead...

Huge shopping list. If we accomplish half of that we have a chance to stay in 4th until the winter break. Then, I reckon we will see more action. Typical, then our new signings won't be able to play CL for us.no it wont define our character. wait till march and see what happenes. we have had great starts to the season over the past 6 years and why have we not won anything? because the true test of character come march-may gets thrown out the window season after season.

Again, i fully expect us to beat united next week.
edit: it cant get any higher then stuffing chelsea and barca last year yet we got battered by bham in the carling cup and the rest as u say is history.
Point? Even if we win all our 4 games THIS early on the season it wont do sweet fuck all to our team confidence coming to the crunch time of the season.
If we cant rise up from beating chelsea and barca, how the hell can u expect us to rise up to beating udinese, liverpool and united?
Wilshire is actually good enough to play in the Cesc role, he's not as good, but he's got a similar set of skills and the level of vision required. The money would be better spent on a real DM and real wingers, and, 3/4 of a new back four.
As for if a manager would come in and instantly turn things around, I think the vast majority would. Firstly even guys like Redknapp could see building a team around Kind or Woodgate was stupid so he went and got first team guys and used them if fit when required. Gallas is better than anyone else there in defence. Arsenal have known about our sicknotes, all of them for the best part of 4 years and yet here we are, 4 years later relying on them MORE than we used to.
Redknapp can work that out, 90% of managers can work that out, Wenger can't. Likewise, Theo on the wing, no, Gervinho on the wing, no, Song as a DM, no.
I think 90% of the managers in this league let alone others would have seen our situation and bought who WE wanted early, rather than who is left in a couple of weeks from now which seems to be where we are going.
I've said it before, I have zero trust in Wenger bringing in the right people. If we don't bring in minimum of 2-3 top players I can see a very poor(by Arsenal standards and 100mil a year in wages) season coming our way.
I've almost lost the will to care, Wenger will continue to get rid of anyone worth keeping and I can really see both RVP and Wilshire wanting out come next season. Wilshire already looks like the quality of player a title winning side could use a decent amount now and rely on in the future to win more titles. Arsenal need to stop the rot, and that starts and finishes with Wenger at the moment.
This was all plainly obvious when Wenger angered our best wingers, both Reyes and Pires who was just epic for us at that time, have stated one of the major reasons for leaving was being angry over the champs league final. Henry, Reyes, Pires, the whole team (and a select few fans) saw Hleb for what he was, utterly crap. Reyes was very angry at simply being dropped and Pires had been angry and refused to talk to him for years after being subbed off instead of Hleb in the final.
Not to mention taking off Cesc in that game, who was instrumental to us already at that stage, 1-0 up, Cesc goes off, and we collapsed. Ok its not quite that bad but Wenger then till now hasn't learnt that when you're holding a lead taking off your best performer is basically football suicide. He utterly lost it that season, the 49 game unbeaten run, and the champs league final, he's not been the same manager since and he's slowly ripped the squad to pieces.
That 2005-2006 team could have won(with the same tactics) and Pires staying, the title several times since. But we lost our best players, changed tactics, got bad replacements and have gone down hill.
This is a brilliant post from another forum

that would be good. I think the Everton fans would riot if that happened

Not having a new manager/Jonney should change the record, it is going to be impossible![]()

So here's our Best XI to face Liverpool and United
SZCZ
Sagna --- Kos --- Squil --- Verm
-----------Frimpster-------------
------Ramsey--------Rosicky------
---Walcott-------------Arshavin---
--------------RVP----------------

Tried playing this 11 on PES. Couldn't even score a goal. Tough times ahead, that's for sure. We'll still beat Liverpool though. 2-1![]()
