Jet finished watching MOTD, and thought Arsenal played incredibly well.

Santi Cazorla looks classy as hell, didn't look like you missed Song in that midfield 3 though perhaps one more class player could help, Diaby isn't bad but Arteta and Santi are a different world.

In defence, I didn't see enough for fair judgment but Vernalen looks strong, the rest mediocre at best. In Mertesacker Arsenal have signed the one German CB who looks completely shaken at all times.

Up top, Gervinho looked ready for anything while Podolski seemed tentative perhaps finding it had to find his feet? Walcott looked completely lost though again I didn't see enough for fair judgement.

Giroud came on, looked good until he missed that chance.

The team I would like to see Arsenal start with would be

--------Scz.. Still can't spell it.
Jenkinson-- Verm-- Djourou-- Gibbs
----------Arteta-----------Diaby or new signing
---------------------Santi
--------Podolski---Giroud-----Gervinho.
 
Song is going to be a BACK UP! I remember seeing Hleb winning trophies while his contribution is to sit on the bench and give players high -fives as they were subbed .

Masch figured, being a back up(DM) sucks! once, I get a chance to play CB. I won`t come back to the DM role. Puyol won`t be getting many games so , Masch is safe.


Fabregas has to challenge Pedro for a starting role! Barca has a hard openings in starting position . Alex is even safe on his position.

Arsene will get a player on the last day. We need to offload these deadwoods asap!

My Point, look at Henry's stats: 5 consecutive seasons with over 30 goals and never (besides his last season) had bellow 20 goals.
RvP is a HUGE blow and it hurts to see him in the shirt.

What hurts more is Arsenal's struggle. We have become average.

p.s.: I was always thinking Walcott is way more important to sign than Robin because: 1. Robin proved he wanted to go no doubs, 2. the age, and the usefulness for the squad for squad depth and for years to come also.

I don't think it was depressing to see us in that game at all, I really don't see how it was depressing.

I don't think anybody called Van Persie a Legend? it was a debate whether he was world class or not.

I think you are being over critical if you call us average as well, we are definately not the best, but average I think is going a bit far.

If Walcott is consistant, then he would be a good asset for Arsenal, but I fear now he is stalling on a contract his head isn't with Arsenal, which is a shame. Hopefully I am proved wrong.

I would like to see the front 3 of Podolski, Gervinho and Giroud at Stoke and see how it goes.

I hope not, last season showed that he was a one season wonder. I hope we can get Lewandowski.
 
Perhaps Arsenal can use the money they got for Song to put towards buying M'Vila? In my opinion, he is a way better DMF than Song and actually stays in his position. Song is more like a #8 forced to play in the holding role. The exact same thing can also be said of Diaby. M'Vila can also pass the ball better than Song, and at 22, is not only younger than Song, but a more complete player as well. Mind you, he is also the starting DMF for the French national team.

If that doesn't work out, perhaps Wenger would consider Toulalan from Malaga or Lars Bender from Leverkusen?

My guess is that Song is going to be used by Barcelona in the same role vacated by Seydou Keita. And even though he might play, he won't be a starter...and more importantly, (at least from what I've seen of Song) will not have he same team-first attitude as Keita. Will he have the maturity to put up with being on the bench for the prime of his career? Only time will tell.
 
I'm not sure about M'Vila, haven't seen him play a lot apart from the Euro's where he wasn't good. It seems Wenger's targets for the dmf position are Lucas Biglia from Anderlecht and Ettiene Capoue from Toulouse.

I agree with you about M'Vila at the Euros, but to be fair to him, he was injured in the friendly against Serbia directly before the tournament and was always struggling for full fitness.
 
M'Vila was carrying an injury during the Euros. But I think Wenger is pretty much in-the-know regarding all things that happen in that French dressing room and there are some sources saying M'Vila had a bit of an attitude problem.

Truth is that managers know stuff that we have no idea of. This Song sale now for example, only now reports about him being late, unprofessional and having a bad attitude have been surfacing. Wenger himself was quoted hinting there was something else to this deal that we don't know. But selling a player with 3 years left in his contract, without much hesitation, for £15m speaks volumes.

One thing is certain. We need more midfielders. Wenger says we have plenty. I agree on paper, but if I might add something, I'd say we have many crocked midfielders and others with a terrible injury record.

"If Abou Diaby stays fit and Jack Wilshere’s comeback remains vaguely on schedule, we can add them to a list that also includes Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsey, Santi Cazorla, Tomas Rosicky, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Emmanuel Frimpong, and Francis Coquelin."

You cannot start a sentence saying "if Abou Diaby remains fit". That's the biggest "if" in football. Give him playing time, by all means. But let's take it easy on expectations and, most importantly, let's not count on him to play a whole season! Same can be said about Rosicky, Frimpong and Ramsey, to a certain extent.
Out of 9 players, we have only four that are kinda reliable in terms of fitness.
We need to get Sahin and one more midfielder, more precisely a true DMF.

I told you that I feared this. Let's face it: Chamakh and Park were very good strikers in Ligue 1 too. Need I say more? Out of our 3 signings, Giroud is the one I take the large pinch of salt.

It's not about that one chance, and I don't read too much into this goalless draw with Sunderland. Of course everyone will say van Persie would have netted that one, but it's too easy to say this. RvP also missed an absolute sitter from 2 yards against AC Milan last season that cost us a CL exit (and I was in the stadium). When it's all hype and all going good for a player, does anybody seem to remember stuff like that?

RvP is a very good striker who had 1 ridiculously good season and a couple of other good patches in between 6 month long spells sidelined by injury. Scored a good number of goals, many of them sensational. But Legend?
From most recent generations, people like Tony Adams, Titi Henry, Dennis Bergkamp can be labelled legends. Let's not abuse the word.

But I still think Sahin is very likely to be signing, unless Mourinho has a plan of letting it linger till the last moment and sabotage Arsenal!

Where does your fear come from? Anything to do with the actual Player? Because it sounds like your only fear is by Comparing him to two different players that played in the same league? And that is it (as you have already said your opinion isn't based on the Sunderland game) and he has only played that one competitive game for us.

Also nobody has called Van Persie a Legend? I haven't heard one person say it?

The van Persie "legend" comments I was merely acknowledging what n4p4st4 was saying.

As for Giroud, I think I've made it clear I'm not judging the player, but I want fans to play down the expectations on him. I'm comparing the pattern: Chamakh and Park were pretty decent strikers in their leagues. Gervinho was great with Lille, by all accounts. But tell me honestly mate, do you see any of those thriving in the Premier League so far? I think my fears with players coming from Ligue 1 are well grounded, aren't they?
With all due respect to the French League, but there's quite a gap in quality right now.

I saw lots of Arsenal fans considering Giroud as a replacement worthy of RvP. We know it ain't like that.
All I'm saying is to play down your expectations on Giroud, otherwise it reality may hit you harder if he doesn't correspond.

Well I haven't heard one fan say he will replace Van Persie, There is always that hope sure, but I really haven't heard anybody say that.

My expectations are on the 3 players we brought into the club taking the burden of scoring and assists together (Along with others at the club) eventually and not relying on just one person.

I think Gervinho could be a very good player for out club, Chamakh did well for us initially but has nosedived ridiculously, which I think means he has the talent, but mentally not so strong. Park is just a mystery as he hasn't even been given a chance (Which is probably due to him being super shit in training, but we will never know!).

So I think Giroud is a completely different person and player and if he is mentally up for the Premier league and all it throws at a player, then can be successful....hopefully.

I still think Chamakh could be successful, but he needs some serious psychiatric help to get him out of what ever he is in at the moment. Maybe that help is a fresh start and moving away from Arsenal and a clean slate. But I still think there is hope for him, but I don't think he will get many games for us now. Unless Giroud and Podolski just don't score at all.

I just don't think you would have made your comment if he had scored that goal and won us the game? that is just my feeling and there was a thin line between scoring it and not. (But you already said you didn't base it on that, so that is fine)

I know that it's a thin line, and I was the first to point out that even RvP could have easily missed that (having missed easier chances such as that one against Milan for instance). And it must be said Giroud is left-footed, so he took that shot with his weaker foot and he said he should work on his weak foot in training, which is great to hear from a player.

I'm just seeing a pattern recently. The bottom line is that Chamakh and Park were good enough for Ligue 1 and Gervinho was a beast there. Things in the Premier League are quite different, not only in terms of physicality but also quality, especially these days when you have certain clubs paying £200k a week to some players.

I think when guys like Petit, Vieira, Pires and Wiltord came, the gap wasn't as big as it is now.

There is no doubt that was a high time for French football team and the national team, but they still have some great players now and they all played in the French leagues at some point.

Out of the 3 we still have (Gervinho, Park and Chamakh) I mentioned before that Gervinho is still very much part of Arsenes plans and has showed promise, you keep dismissing him, but I think he can still be a good player for us. The other two have not been successful, but does that mean we shouldn't get any players from French teams? Not M'vila? or is it only forwards we shouldn't get?

I don't know, you may be right and he might be crap, but I just think it is too early to say anything on the subject at all.

Moyes is a good manager don't get me wrong, but someone with the attention to details Wenger brings is rare, I'd take him as Fergies assistant if you want Moyes ;)
 
I see one of you is a United supporter, is the other an Arsenal one?

I've had the displeasure of watching Wenger do everything in his power over the last 8 years to destroy the reputation he'd made himself in the previous 8. Arsenal existed before Wenger, and despite the best efforts of our disgrace of an ownership, we'll likely exist after him.

Wenger is tactically redundant in organizing a defence and naiive in attack. His recent comments about the club having positive impacts in young player's lives at the expense of success says it all. Those same young players have all slapped the club in the face on the way out the door, so even in that regard he's a failure.

Wenger's transition into success was pretty spectacular, but let's not forget the defence he inherited (built by George Graham), and the genius of Dennis Bergkamp (brought in by Bruce Rioch). They were the cornerstones of the early success which he built upon and has yet to recreate.

As for Moyes, the man has done a hell of a lot on a shoestring budget, has built a team again and again that's solid at the back and good going forward. It's hard to believe no "bigger" club, with the fullest respect to Everton, has came in for him. I would take him over Wenger in an instant.

Of course a United supporter would love Wenger to stay on, he's just sold you our best player for 15 million.
 
Anyone who wants rid of Wenger at Arsenal is mental. He's far and away the second best manager in the league.

The only managers that have pipped him to a title without an investment of greater than £300m are Alex Ferguson and...oh yeah that's it.

He's kept Arsenal in the top 4 despite spending less on transfers than almost any other team in the league (!) and despite a wage bill that is at best in line with the Europa League.

Wenger is just 'unlucky' that he has to operate in a club that has revenue, costs and has to adhere to those. The only teams better than his are two that have almost LOST £2bn between them. And United.

So unless you're going to get a rich sheikh who wants to compensate for something by spunking on a football club or Sir Alex to move down south, be f*cking happy you've got him.

Of course the same as us being told Van Persie would have scored when our forwards don't :))

We should have got Berbatov for free in the Persie deal ;))

I think he would struggle to get a game for us in our system as well, if we went 442 then he would defo be a good option.
