Haha, all right I did not want to assume that train of thought..seeing as I wouldve been grilled just for being a Utd fan. Still, it was a nice goal whether more luck than skill was involved or not..he still had to make the run and expect to get the ball back. Your point kind of reminds of the discussion folks had after Cleverley's goal @ Newcastle this season..was it a cross to RvP or was it a brilliant shot on goal?

Typically, saw the first half and was bored. Stopped watching and missed a cracking second half.
Thouhgt Arsenal had the best of the game (possession) in the first half but played very stale and sterile, even Cazorla had no inspiration...
 
This period is make or break for Wenger I think.

If it goes bad and he doesn't reinforce the team, then people will be calling for his head.

If he doesn't get at least a couple of good players and we do badly I feel there is no way back for him really. The fans will have finally had enough.

We get tired easily (As we have to play our best players always and they rarely get a rest) and our squad isn't full with players that can make a difference (or that Arsene trusts). So thinking that we have so many big games this month, it could all go very wrong.

If this month goes badly and we don't make a couple of significant signings, then I will be so depressed I might think it is time for my lovely French man to leave :PP

He has to get this team playing consistently and make our squad stronger over the next couple of months, or we really are in danger of missing the top 4.

I think this is the most important period in Arsene's reign and I for one hope he delivers, because I don't want to see him go.
 
He fluffed it on the summer transfer window by only buying half of the players we need. We was still 3 players short in terms of signing. The players he got are fine but they cant play 20 games in a row. They will be burned out.
 
To be fair though, if Gervinho played well this season, then we wouldn't be looking for another player in that position (I thought he played ok last season and showed a lot of promise and the start of this season).

The mistake he made was relying on Diaby, but I understand this as well in a way. If he could ever get fit he would be one of our best players and in Pre season he showed no signs....but he is Diaby.

If we could rotate our midfield with Rosicky and Diaby and Gervinho didn't turn into a liability in front of goal, then a few of our problems would be fine now.

But the bottom line is it's not ok now and we need strength in our squad, players that Wenger trusts that can come onto the pitch and make a difference.

We at least need another Striker and Defensive midfielder, now I would also say another Forward to back up Podolski, Walcott, The Ox, but that is not a must must (Unless Walcott goes) it would just make us a lot stronger.

Wenger needs to realise how tired the team are and how important it is to get players in that we can rely on, otherwise it is going to be too late.
 
Wenger said He is not aware how other clubs work out their payment structure ,but at Arsenal he n the board makes the decision on how much a player makes.

I didn't see this quote but I think he was talking about Chelski and $ity. If so, I totally agree with him. Nobody knows how they work out salary structure over there. With money that came from God knows where.

But I do remember Wenger saying at some point in August that we were loaded with midfielders. Now he looks stupid doesn't he? I mean, two of the midfielders are Diaby and Rosicky and their injury record speaks for itself. Another midfielder is Ramsey who has been underperforming and deployed so many times in the wrong position anyway. He can't even decide if he's a midfielder or a winger.
What irritates me is that we all could foresee this, couldn't us? When Song left without a substitute I was outraged - and still am.

Wenger is a great manager in terms of his ability to instil a playing style and pattern. It's very positive football overall, pleasing to watch (not so much recently). But if he neglects our needs yet again, I will be one of millions calling for his head, I'm afraid.

The Premier League is a very different place now than it was 8.5 years ago when we last won the league. Ever since financial doping was introduced, it's turned into a very different and hostile place.
Wenger will have to make way to someone who understand the dynamics of this modern Premier League. Unfortunately £100k does not keep your top talent at home anymore. And Wenger isn't prepared to offer not even that to Walcott.

Walcott will walk away IMO - no one leaves until now to sign a contract renewal. So I hope Wenger is blatantly lying and trying to mislead everyone when he says he will sort Walcott before bringing in new personnel. That is suicidal and doesn't even make sense. I'm sure the transfer guys at the club can multi-task??

I don't wanna read news this January. I just want to see the signings annouced. Or else, you know... Worrying times...

I don't mean to keep banging on the drum of ticket prices at Arsenal, but it got to this point:

City fans were pointing out the fact that by regulation a team can't charge away fans more than their own fans' cheapest ticket. Which led them to the shocking revelation that £62 is our cheapest ticket for the fixture Arsenal v Man City.

Indeed if you count 62 quid + travel expenses + booze and food. It's a complete piss taking.

When is this going to stop?

I know it will most probably stay expensive. Which is a shame because they didn't leave much space for ticket price increases. These tickets (for "A" matches) are really a cut above anything else in the league.
Lowering prices is something that we know just won't happen, cause it would give an idea of decline.

I know people still pay, but it's taking away fans to protest and make some noise about these outrageous prices.

Meanwhile, we live in the hope of reinforcements. Come on Wenger, move your ass!
 
Among the rumours in Belgium around Lucas Biglia (Anderlecht) Arsenal is mentioned, but so are Fiorentina and Milan.
I always loved CMF Biglia, he is an intelligent and cultured player, but i think he just isn't good enough for one of those 3 teams...Arsenal already have a similar player who is better: Arteta. So maybe Biglia could act as a back-up for Arteta, but i doubt if that is what he expects from a transfer.
Anyway at the moment the rumour is that he would probably go to Milan...

For it to go down, a mass of supporters need to boycott games, but if a mass of people boycott the games then there will be replacements that find it hard to get to see games and see it as an opportunity to go to the games.

Personally after this (With Man City) and if Arsenal fail to produce this season again, I feel next season we will see many more protests about pricing at Arsenal.

If Walcott gets his reported 97k a week wages, then it opens the flood gates and just increases the wage spend of Arsenal, so there will be no decrease in ticket prices anytime soon.

It's difficult, but Wenger/Arsenal need to justify the prices of the tickets, if we aren't performing well, then we need to spend on quality players to do that. Fans paying all of this money and not seeing resolutions to our problems will just get more resentful.
 
The problem is that thousands of people want to see Arsenal matches...as long as this continues, why would Arsenal change the prizes for tickets ?

This phenomenon is already happening (substitute audience, so to speak). There is a layer of hard core working class fans who were priced out of the Emirates. So now it's middle to higher classes attending for the most part. But along with those, many people who attend are a bit blasé, casual, seeing it as a good day out instead of pushing the team forward. Many of those aren't as 'committed' as the hardcore ones who sang their lungs out. Hence the nickname opposition fans gave to the Emirates (The Library).
Anyway, that's my theory :D

The nickname 'library' was there at Highbury, it was funny because it rhymed :PP

So it was before the major price increases and the stadium move. But your point still is valid in some parts.

If I had to guess, I'd put my money on Highbury being a much more welcoming venue. The atmosphere must have been great there. Such a shame I never went there...

Yes indeed, but more so at Arsenal. I'm going to see England v Brazil in Wembley, at £45. Right after completing the purchase I got an email from Arsenal about availability for the FA Cup replay against Swansea. An upper circle seat costs £73... Man, that's steep!
 
Yes thats a lot of money friend.

I hate the money involved in the game now - £73 for a replay is scandalous!

I loved Highbury and when it was pumping it was great. But it could be a let down atmosphere wise sometimes (Although I think what people were saying was exagerated). I have great memories watching Arsenal as a boy in the North bank with my dad when it was all standing.

Emirates still has to get that magic (Although my feelings for Highbury were from growing up going there) and it will only do so imo when we start winning stuff there. At the moment it is a great place to play football etc but it has been a big ball and chain around our necks financially wise hampering us success wise. Hopefully we start seeing the positives from it and can build a team worthy of playing there and bringing success back. Then the great memories will come and a fondness will grow and it will become the true home of Arsenal. Of course the name of the stadium detracts from it as well, but we are stuck with that.

Saying all that, it is a great stadium, when I lived in London I used to love walking to work around it and going for runs around it (and the surrounding parks). I was walking to work one morning and Ray Parlour was getting interviewed outside, I was the only one there :))

I still haven't seen the statues in real life, so when I go back in the summer I will have a little walk around it, which I am looking forward to :DD

Yeah I see what you mean and because Hihgbury was part of your upbringing I think you will never feel the same about the new stadium, even if Arsenal goes on to win loads of trophies and Champions League. It's one of those things that are magic to you on a personal level. Growing old you can still enjoy life and things but it's not quite the same as when you are a child discovering things.

Arsenal did the right thing moving to the new stadium, it had to happen at some time. The people who miss Highbury
will always have fond memories but they will see a new generation who will only know Arsenal playing at the Grove. A new tradition has to start.

As for the statues, I saw and took pictures by Tony Adams' and Henry's. But I think Bergkamp should have a statue of his own! :D
