I didn't see the 1st half, arrived home for the 2nd half with a match pretty much ruined already. There was no contest actually.
But, not having seen it, I have to ask: did we muster a single shot on target?
The thing that gets on my nerves the most is the innocuous possession, the lack of objectivity and no one taking a shot, you know, the passing it into the net philosophy. It seems we were trying this until the very end, while 0-2 down, which does my head in.
Diaby playing today, from what I saw in the 2nd half he couldn't complete a single pass. But one has to question, why throw him in there so early after months out? I'm a big critic of Diaby as he certainly has his off days, but what was the manager thinking? You have to put this into Wenger's tally really.
Now with the centre backs, Kos will get a ban and we're one Mertesacker suspension or one Vermaelen ankle twist away from entering Squilaci territory.
Now on to Theo: he can play great and score against Reading, he can score his hattrick against an exhausted Newcastle, but where is he on the big matches? He was playing central, as he's been demanding. And we can't even get him to sign. If Theo's signature is what we're holding on for the whole month of January, then we're in serious trouble.
To go through this whole month without any signings will be unacceptable and, what's worst, I can see it happening.
If Wenger thinks he can finish 4th with this squad he's taking a huge gamble. He's neglecting very important issues in our squad and this time around I'm afraid he won't get away with it. We're bound to be found out.
Wake up and smell the capuccino, FFS Arsene!
