Regardles..in light of next week then..I hope Arsenal won't get completely blown away at the Allianz. Having no English team in the next round of the CL is one thing, losing the last one due to some major clusterfuck of a performance would not be good for the league as a whole.
 
We will probably get humped as we need a few goals and we will be attacking which will expose us severely at the back.

Although if Bayern sit back, then it can be possible we get an ok result (we don't get humped)....but I doubt it.
 
Wenger is a smart man, he'll figure some way to get out of it without losing face. Arsenal need at least three goals which might be tough, but I've seen Arsenal pull off stunts like that in the past so it could happen again.
 
Not a chance in the world that this Arsenal team can pull this off. Bayern are IMO the big favourites to win it this year. I hope for a German final: Bayern - Dortmund
 
Well, with that attitude they'll never make it. I stand for positive thinking and confidence in my own abilities, and it has brought me quite far.

I'm using wikipedia as the medium to explain the Flo pass. You say it's overexaggerated but it was common knowledge that this was a Norway tactic at the time. Where do you get your numbers (of three in each half) from and what defines a long pass?

By humiliating England I simply meant that the ZONAL MARKING worked, as they made England seem like a team stripped of attacking talent.

NORWAY = ZONAL MARKING, I never mentioned attack or short passing in that context. Counter attack is not short passing or tiki taka, although seeing how completely off the rest of your assessment is in this discussion, I see how you can make the mistake, excuse my bluntness.

So Norway's counter attacking wasnt short passing (or tiki-taka). Yet you also say they didn't do long passing? So what are you trying to say? Some sort of hybrid middle range pass? Some elaborate use of wing play? Or perhaps according to you Norway simply didn't pass the ball at all and their defenders just dribbled the ball out of their own box and scored all by themselves. Reality check, please Sabatasso.

PS. Norway qualified for WC 1998 and Euro 2000 as well. In 1994 Norway were instrumental in keeping England out of the WC, and they even won the group. This was mainly due to their defensive capabilities, they did not park the bus but played organized zonal defense with two box-to-box midfielders, two wingers and a central playmaker in the midfield.

They played dour football that was found out at the 1994 World Cup, three matches (Mexcio Italy Ireland) and they scored one goal and conceeded one, all the other three teams made it out of the group, it seems the very definition of parking the bus. I'm not going to write about this marvellous Norwegian team any more in the Arsenal thread since you have dragged it so off topic, instead of answering my points about when Arsenal were supposedly boring or your notion that Graham didnt lead Spurs to the League Cup.

I actually think you lack some cognitive abilities, edmundo. You're constantly misinterpreting and seem to lack the ability to see what context arguments are in relation to.

The "Flo pass" was from Bjørnebye (left back) to Flo (right wing). When Norway countered they usually made two passes from the person who intercepted or won the ball from the opponent, to the left wing and then a low cross to the striker. Long or short, depending on the range but generally along the floor. Drillo Olsen himself challenged one of his many Norwegian critics and sports journalists to find proof of this claim that they over used the "Flo pass" and it was all the team was about. The proof he found was that there was an average of three of these passes to Flo (regardless of the passer). In other words, the world was wrong about this one, hence my "peeing on the toilet seat" allusion.

As for context and relation, well this is an Arsenal thread, who is the one going off on tangents about Norways crude (or otherwise) football in the mid 1990s?
 
If we score early and Bayern get a red card we may have a chance. Can't see us go through though.

I used Norway as an example, their defensive organisation changed the football much more than anything you mentioned. It was also you who kept misunderstanding and I suspect you did so on purpose. I can bicker all day to be honest, I find it entertaining.

Aah that was great.

Last year we came back well against Milan as well.

But the only way I can see us maybe doing it is if Bayern take the game for granted and are cocky and we can take advantage of it with a couple of early goals.

I really can't see it happening, but you never know. I just can't see us keeping a clean sheet which means we have to score lots of goals :LOL: .....:CRY:
 
Wonder if Bayern will start Robben and Ribery together against the Gunners. Seems like Arsenals defense had no answer to the speed Bayern can bring on the pitch. Cant imagine the first not starting this time, Bayern will likely wanna put in one goal to more or less secure it outright and then sit back and let the Gunners run themselves to death against the Bavarian defensive wall. Bayern's bench will say more about their approach to this one than their starting lineup.

Wilshere is injured :(( but it might be a good thing, as although I think he has been great at times this season, I think we have missed Rosicky and what he brings to the team.

The last part of last season he was great and has shown glimpses this season that he gives the team an extra bit of bite when he comes on. So Hopefully we don't miss Wilshere too much (Hopefully he isn't out for too long).

It could be a blessing in a way and change the way we play a bit.....or we could just play shit :PP

I have mixed feelings about tomorrow, I want the team to give it a go, but with the chances being so slim to go through, I want our team to be fit for the Swansea game.
 
We must have like 0.5% chance of going through tomorrow. Everything must go our way and Bayern mustn't score, because when teams score against us, our team collapses and loses all confidence and concentration.

Just look at the goals we conceded lately, both Spurs goals being identical and silly mistakes.

I've seen some crazy things happening and we need something bizarre tomorrow. But to be honest, if I could choose I would settle for a draw or something, or anything that saves us from some sort of humiliation.

I don't think that it is true that if teams score against us our team collapses, if anything it is the other way around. Many times this season we let in goals and then we start playing...especially in the 2nd half when we wake up.

But we do give away silly goals and it is hard to see us not conceding, especially because we will have to attack so much.

The chances are slim, but nothing is impossible an early goal for us will put the cat amongst the pigeons! but I reckon they will get the early goal and knock the stuffing out of us and then it will definitely be all over, although we will still need 3 goals to tie and go into extra time.
 
I see us scoring 2 quick gols they will underestimate us. This will make us believe again, we will prevail , because they said we couldn't .

You are playing the best team in Europe, i'm sorry but IMO you have 0% chance to go through, if you did i would be happy...but it will not happen. Simply impossible.

Mmm yeah, I suppose you could say our team picks themselves up, but it happens a bit too late more often than not.
What I meant is that our defence panics after conceding (e.g. conceding cheap goals in the same manner).

What I mean is that there is a collapse that costs us dearly, before we start a reaction. I still remember that 7-5 freak game against Reading. Although we were playing many fringe players, that analogy remains valid.

I think Arsenal begins a match without the required concentration and then reacts when it's too late. Remember the CL last year against Milan. Our defence imploded in the first leg and we lost 0-4. Had we kept our composure and somehow controlled the damage, we could keep it as low as 0-2, and then win 3-0 at home as we did! :) But then again, we wouldn't play with as much urgency :P
This upsets me about this team, because it gives us the idea that they could be performing so much better.

I'm not sure Bayern will underestimate us. The Germans mean business, these guys are serious, the players are experienced and they see out the job til the end.

What we really need is a freak occurrence to go through :D

Why is he resting Szcz?! very strange. No Sagna, Wilshere and Szcz it is going to be a bit harder......but WE WILL DO IT!! :DD
