I have stuck up for wenger for a long time I must admit.

being a spurs fan is difficult and we hire and fire too much

But Wenger has had plenty of time to sort it. He is surviving purely on past glories now

He has lost the plot and isn't good enough he isnt a WINNER ANYMORE

I hope he stays for another 10 years!! ;)
 
Let us see how things unfold. Last season Top 4 seemed nearly impossible, but we still managed it the last 2-3 weeks. I think it is much easier. We practically have a really easy run in and unless the players screw up majorly, we should get top 4.

Top 4 and FA Cup still highly likely, IMO. I agree 100% with Rentboy's points, but I feel pretty confident we will most likely get Top 4 and a bit less likely, but still highly probable, the FA Cup.
 
He's played well this season, imo. He's on a free and, unlike Micah, not always injured.
Zaba has been forced to play far too much this season (and last) because our other RB has been injured for the best part of 2 years. Sagna would allow him to be rested.
I love Richards, he's a great character and a quality (attacking) RB but unfortunately he's made of glass
 
Zabaleta is class and agreed Sagna would make good back up player.

Plus he might actually win stuff at City.

Seeing the demise of Barcelona as an all-conquering potency of world football being confirmed today (after that 7-0 trashing on aggregate last year), I really hope Arsene Wenger stirs things around (if he stays) in the summer.

I hope he moves on from this current obsession with super possession football with too many passes and not enough efforts on goal - as this is clearly making way for more objective play, physicality and pressing high up the pitch. Jurgen Klopp's 'heavy metal' approach to football, if you will.

Today it was telling that Atletico Madrid completed just under 150 passes and still created many more chances than Barcelona with all their possession and the 500+ passes.

Our game style of slick(ish) passing and possession clearly isn't working against stronger teams, and it is quickly becoming predictable.
I'd like to see more urgency in the way Arsenal attacks, starting this weekend in the FA semis.
 
Just read a fascinating article. It's an interview with Dutch physiotherapist Raymond Verheijen. The article was written because of the injuries form Belgian players in England (Benteke, Hazard, Veronghen, Fellaini, Kompany and Dembel all have or have had injuries).
Verheijen said that the month of april is the worst month for players: player who play for big clubs have to play several matches a week and he claims that players need 3days of special training between matches this time of the year because they are getting tired.

Verheijen is the physio who works with Hiddink and he has Always given individual training schedules to the players who play for Hiddink. The aim of the schedules is to avoid injuries this time of the year.

Why do i write this here ?

Verheijen says players like Hazard, Kompany and Vertonghen are Lucky because their clubs train like they should. The way they train is good to avoid injuries (Hazard and Vertonghen are injured, so there is no guarantee this will work). He claims players like Fellaini and Vermaelen are unlucky because both Wenger and Moyes (poor Moyes) don't let their players train in an appropriate way.
The fact that players have injuries during the season is heavily onfluneced by thier pre-season training. Wenger and Moyes work too hard with their players during that period. Verheijen says that is useless because the stamina they build-up during that time only has an effect for 3 months and in the long term the exagerated workload is more damaging.

He also said that injured players are "badly treated" by Arsenal's medical staff.

Of course i don't have enough mediacal knowledge to Judge all this, but i remember all the injuries Arsenal frequently has and also how long it takes certain injured players to come back from injury (remember Vermaelen for example).

The pre-season should be more of gain form and muscle than having players properly fit, with tones of stamina.
In the case of Arsenal, is true that they have far to many injuries, but I don't know if those methods would have different effects. First, Arsenal almost every year finish 4th and had to play the CL play-offs, that start very soon in the season and the financial sucess is vital for a club like Arsenal, with much less funds than the opposition. So their future depends on those games. Second, Arsenal has a very limited squad, so he has force sometimes to overplay players, and even dress up players with small injuries, risking major injuries. Third, the pace played in the premier league is mental, every game they play with high intensity, so is normal to have allot of injuries.
IMO, they just have to have a bigger squad. Prime example is Man U under Fergunson. Huge squads, and constant rotation (except for a player or two.
 
I thought Arsene is a control freak in the sense he control the player's diets and methods off the pitch. He weighs them to see who is diet cheating and fines the players for everything from tardy to breaking night.
I remember the latest was a computer monitoring for resting players not to overload them. It work for RVP , but then again players getting injections are just gambling w/ the player's career IMO. To say Arsenal don't care for the players is just bullshit. Why Diaby been collecting payment for years watching Arsenal play while he's in France? I think it's a case of Vermaelen he might be the only captain that can't get on the starting XI in the EPL . It could be players are knackered and can't keep the that high tempo. I think Arsenal should play 4-4-2 the demand is more balance for a thinner squad.

For all i know they do care about their players, but the medical treatment and their preparation is not good for the players. Verheijen just meant to say that whatArsenal does is not ideal to avoid injuries.
 
That could be true, but how has does he have any sort of clue about what's going on at Arsenal though? I think he's just promoting his own theories.
 
I took ' badly treated ' wrongly. As the club miss treat their injured players. As for injured players who knows Arteta was brought in w/o a medical and we bought someone injured and has Back problems. So, to think they mis diagnose is not a stretch. Whether the Belgium is speaking only about Vermaelen it's possible . Ppl don't need to provide proof to talk . Maybe he has a solution for all players' problems . Clubs used horse placenta to curve injuries once.
 
I don't know what to make of that article. Could be true, but then again I don't know how he would have access to inside information regarding players treatments. I think the only evidence he may have are the Arsenal players he treated.

But we all have to agree that Arsenal's medical team should be under scrutiny, as they've been suspect to say the least. I mean, I don't follow other club's injuries as closely, but just by looking at Arsenal, the list is impressive.

Vermaelen had an achilles heel injury that took him a full season to recover! That was mental.
Jack Wilshere had an ankle problem that stole him a full season too.
And more bizarrely, Rosicky had a hamstring problem (if I remember correctly) that was described by Wenger as a strange one, a 'freak' injury never seen before. And he must have spent 2 seasons out injured. But now look at the guy, with the legs and the energy of a 25 year old.
As for Diaby, I don't even know where to start. And I still don't know why Wenger keeps him tied to the club. I just don't get it - the guy stays almost 2 years out of the game and when he's (apparently) recovered, Wenger throws him into the Premier League frenzy.
All the more bizarre was when Deschamps called Diaby for the France NT after just a couple of Arsenal appearences coming back from injury!

I don't know what to make of it, but maybe Diaby's horrific leg break when he was just 18 may have messed up his muscle tissues - I read somewhere a while ago that bones and muscle tissues only stabilise after you are 21.
Then again, I have no authority whatsoever on medical matters.
 
That Vermaelen injury ...I remember it was during a NT break. The Belgium NT , said it was minor knock haha . So, either them or Arsenal prolong that injury for the season.
 
It originated from a match with our national team.
But the injury was treatd by Arsenal's medical staff.
And what i remember is the fact that that same medical staff repetedly claimed the injury was healed, but that this proved to be a mistake...you can't blaim that on our national team.

Frankly, i'm a litle sick about this.
It seems that only Arsenal fans can criticize Arsenal, only Man Utd fans can criticize United, only Chelsea fans can criticize Chelsea...

I mentioned the article to have a discussion about it, not for a contest of blaming Arsenal, an national team or another club...

To be fair I'm with you. The man is a twitter fiend, and since day 1 has been lambasting United over RVP.

One assumes if he was as knowledgeable and amazing at preventing injuries as he claims, he would have a bigger job.

He also mocks/criticises on the pitch matters like coaching, tactics and so forth, and has 'spoken' several times about what Dutch players are 'thinking'.

Note - I'm not saying he's wrong - and Arsenal and United have led the 'injury league' every season in recent memory. So both teams are doing something 'wrong'.

Personally I've always thought the primary reason was squad age. Both United and Arsenal traditionally have a good number of under 21 players - who often get injured more often as they get used to their bodies. Whereas City and Chelsea in recent years have had mostly players at the their 'peak' age, when they know their own bodies and how to regulate their actions to avoid injury.

It would he great to see average numbers of players injured and average time they are out for. Then we can really know for sure. Then it would be great to see average ages of players etc ......it would be very interesting.

It is annoying to say the least, but it could be something that has been exagerated over time, like how everyone takes the mickey out of Wenger because he is the only manager in the world that hasnt won anything for 8years....that sort of thing :PP

Well, the discussion is a good one. No one is criticizing just different opinions. Vermaelen was vital during that season. Now, we had (this season`s most vital)Ramsey injured from a hamstring that lasted 4 mts haha! . There is something that seems off. You read the article and brought sound bites in here for us to examine. I fully agree just like everyone did in this thread Arsenal`s medical are badly diagnosing injuries.
