That's a yearly Gunner holiday. Nobody knows when it will be, but it always comes.

Ramsey was brilliant today and again he showed how well he combines with Özil.

If we didn't loose Ramsey, Özil and Walcott during all these months, our situation in the league could have been much better.
 
Not much to discuss today. These last 3 matches, seeing the return of Ozil and Ramsey, have coincidentally been against easier opponents. We have demolished the opponents and have been playing really really top-notch football.

I just remember earlier in the season we were winning games so effortlessly, I was feeling that it was too good to be true...then it all came tumbling down. But whatever happened happened, it is just good to be winning games so easily again.

Still looking forward to the reinforcements. I hope Wenger really comes through this transfer season. City and Chelsea are bound to throw buckets of cash around in the market once again. Also, it looks like United is going to be going all out this time around in the market. And now Liverpool with the CL money will surely be looking to make some moves as well. (Let's not forget about Southampton, Spurs (with a new coach), Everton all looking to move up...)

I hope Wenger is aware that none of these teams are gonna be sleeping this time around. We need some quality reinforcements, not even to challenge for the title, but if we wanna stay in Top 4 again.

DMF, CF, and RB for starters if Sagna leaves.
 
Well United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City are all expecting to be in the Champions League.

5 doesn't go into 4 with us being the ones to miss out this year.
 
Are you serious? They already have 3 direct CL slots. There wasn't that long ago that they only had two direct CL slots. Until Platini fuck up mid-class leagues.
Plus if there were to give 5 spots to English, the Spanish ones would deserve 6, since they are miles better in UEFA competitions.
 
imo all those 5 clubs are very big for the EL, at the moment. liverpool seem to have become a big power again so why not?

but you're right about the spanish comparison. it would be technically impossible to make my wish happen.
 
Agree with that. Considering how the practice of sugar daddyism shall never cease (especially if the only punishment is being fined by UEFA), keeping the limit of 3 or 4 places for CL will at least encourage the billionaires to invest in other leagues.
If you can't stop sugar daddies, at least try to foster a fair distribution of them across Europe. This trend is catching on, with PSG and Monaco more recent examples. England and France are getting filled up. Let's see who's next.
 
Premier league should have 5-6 spots for champions league, there city, chelsea, liverpool, arsenal , united everton/tottenham should be in CL while for spain 3-4 teams are more than enough , 3 italy , 3 germany.
 
In what world is English football been better than the Spanish to deserve more than them. Just because there are big spenders that does not mean they are better. A good internal season from Liverpool does not mean that they will be any good in Europe. City for the first time got out of the group stage for the first time. Arsenal does not pass the 4-final in a decade. United does not reach the semis in 4/5 years. Only Chelsea has been consistent in Europe.

3/4 spots is more than enough. It's the European Champions League. Not the "England and friends" Champions League. lol

Yep I think it should be the first one gets automatic qualification and then the 2nd place team has to qualify.

then the next 2 teams or so go into the Europa league, making that more competitive and more of an attraction.

...but only when Arsenal win the league and have a better team ;))

Come on people. That old format did not allow for the best teams to play each other. This year on the semi-finals only Bayern would be there. And the next final would have to be played by different teams.

I thought the general consensus was that Spurs fans were small minded and vicious when it comes to Arsenal, but here's the proof that it's actually the other way around.

its trying to keep the rivalry going , good for business. I think its childish tbh . Its like when Spurs beat Arsenal they`ll sell DVDs`, Mugs ,etc. w/ the scoreline on it.
 
St. Totteringham day was amusing for about 5 or 6 years, but it got old. It's been happening 19 years in a row, after all.

I also wanted to react to St Totteringham Day, it's daft IMO.
If Spurs would ever end before Arsenal, i wouldn't care at all...i'm sure there are Spurs fans who would be delighted if Arsenal were 20th and Spurs 19th...people like that are idiots.

This is the aspect of football i don't like at all...rivalries.Both clubs are rivals for something that happened a century ago...this is ridiculous. I realize that in 99% of the cases it is only harmless banter and can be fun, but there is more to it. Look at the reactions of Delight of some Man Utd fans in the Liverpool thread after Chelsea won against Liverpool.

A very hypothetical question for the people who celebrate St Totteringham Day.
Spurs win the final of the CL against a foreign team. Would you be disappointed or would you be glad that an English club won it ?

I Always support Belgian teams in European cups.
 
I think Rivalries are good, stuff like St. Totteringham day is harmless and fun banter.

For teams that are not at the top and never win things (Even less than Arsenal :PP), Rivalries, derbies etc are all small victories for teams and gives them different times in the season to motivate them and celebrate.

Even for bigger teams, it just adds an extra dimension to football and is a big plus point for me in football.....until it gets violent, then it is just morons and completely unacceptable.
 
Derbies are fine but there are always those who can't distinguish between friendly banter and outright vicious. Waving insults in front of peoples' noses isn't nice regardless of the background. Not to mention that it's actually disrespectful mockery of religion as well.

The word I was looking for was "distasteful". Plain and simple.

I think you are over-reacting a bit, I think you are making this harmless banter into a more sinister form, that I don't think either set of fans see it as.

But each to their own I guess, that is what makes the world a wonderful place, we all think differently :))
 
I'm not over-reacting one bit, I'm calm as can be. I just observed an earlier discussion where there seemed to be a general agreement that Spurs fans were niggardly and wicked. Since I don't really know anything about it I let it simmer and have noticed that they don't seem particularly worse than anyone else. After being informed of what St. Tottenhamsday (?) actually was I read about it as well and I have to say that is probably the lowest form of rivalry related low-blows I've seen so far.

Fine if you disagree, but you're biased as hell anyway so your opinion on the subject is actually less important to me. And I mean that in the nicest possible way. I just wanted to air my musings on the matter. :)

Anyway all banter and one-upmanship and alot of fun in general is petty immature and stupid, its what makes it fun :-)

Do Spurs fans actually feel offended or say that it actually goes against religion etc i highly doubt it?

It is harmless banter and i think 99% of fans see it that way.
 
I guess you don't know much about Saints and Catholicism then. Saints are actually quite important business and making a mock Saints day is blatant blasphemy right there.

I might be an agnostic but I respect religion.
 
Zero is the first agnostic I see defending conventional forms of religion so fiercely. Disrespectful mockery of religion? If you really meant that, you need to lighten up a bit.
But I guess you're just pushing it to disagree with Arsenal fans.

As for the rivalries, whether you like it or not, they will always exist anywhere - come on, nobody here lives inside a bubble. No matter where you live, your local club will have some degree of rivalry with another. Or if you're the only club in town, like Newcastle is, then you'll be rivals with the club in the neighbour city (in this case, Sunderland).

Rivalry is inevitable in football. Unless there are robots in the audience.
It is not necessarily negative, but it helps fire up the atmosphere of derbies, taking them to another level, like Bobby said.
Some people will stay within the boundaries of terrace banter, others will be idiotic and violent about it. Those that go over the top are dealt with by the authorities, and that's that. I agree they're idiots, but as long as they pay the price for being so, things are under control.
I'm not about to condemn rivalries and wish they would end just because of a minority of imbeciles.

I don't believe Gerd's example would ever materialise - if both Arsenal and Tottenham would get relegated, regardless of where they finished, there would be no celebrations.

Furthermore, I think you guys got it all wrong. St. Totteringham is a "holiday" that Arsenal fans "celebrate". It is all tongue-in-cheek humour, I don't believe anyone actually celebrates that for real. This isn't something created for the Arsenal fans to celebrate. It's designed only with the purpose of winding up Spurs fans.
