Is it just me or Podolski and Campbell really deserve a shout for first XI now?
 
Pod is class but he will be on bench again on Weekend to make room for Welbeck, seriously, why are we buying Man U's duffers?!

Exactly, just let Alexis play behind either Giroud or Welbeck and let Podolski play on the left wing. He could also switch positions with Alexis within the game and come through the middle. We badly need Podolski and his shooting skills.

Man U are a big club so they fork out the money and buy BIG players. everyone laughed at you for buying Van Persil from us but he proved us wrong and won you another league title.

what do we do? Bring in your hand-me-downs. everyone knows that Danny Welbeck will never be world class or get us 20+ goals a season.

HE will be at a club like Newcastle long term, being their star player. He's got ability, yes. But he's NOT an Arsenal quality player.

But what IS an Arsenal quality player these days? We're a confused club and our fanbase are divided.

You've got the pro-Wenger "can't do anything wrong" fan boys who still watch the DVDs of us when we were good, clinging onto the hope that we MIGHT be good again one day, because he managed us to a few league titles before.

then you've got myself and the anti-Whinger brigade who boo our players off every other weekend because we're sick of Whinger and we're sick of not getting anywhere near League Champions.

It's going to get worse over the next few seasons too. I was at Stoke last weekend and the supporters in the away section were fighting at the game and afterwards (not physically, but arguments).

I'd say it was 60% of us wanting Whinger out, then the Deludeds sitting there quiet "But but but who else can we get in? Wenger needs time. Etc Etc EXCUSES EXCUSES!"

"WENGER OUT! WENGER OUT!" was the chant walking out of the Britannia. So many people sick and tired.

You get the internet Arsenal fans who dont go to the games, who dont pay 1000s of quid a year following Arsenal around Europe, away days at Stoke and Newcastle, plus the expense of our overrated, pricey new bowl we call home. They come on the forums spouting their nonsense that we should STICK BY WHINGER.

Yeah but you don't pay your hard earned cash going to watch the Gunners, do you??? I dont earn that much money, I'm a student, and I spend HELL of a lot of cash following that pile of dross every weekend, especially since moving from London.

So I'm sick to death of it all. I WANT THAT SENILE OLD GOAT GONE FROM MY CLUB!!

I hope we finish 5th, Southampton and Manu get 3rd and 4th and THAT will make Stan Kronke and his gang of arseholes sit up and TAKE NOTICE.

I too spend lots of money seeing these bunch of clueless players play crap week in week out.

Expect us to lose or draw on Saturday.

Nothing shocks or surprises me anymore with Whinger.

This club needs a wake-up call like Man U last season. We need to fail to get CL footy then the Whinger fan boys will wake up and smell the dross when we're playing on Thursday nights with Welbeck up-front against Krasondar.

IF Whinger signs new defenders, a better GK, a defensive midfielder and a 20+ goal a season striker in January, then I'll change my tune of the senile old goat.

But he wont so we're stuck with what we've got. But dont worry, we will sign another attacking, tippy tappy midfielder next summer and we'll be bullish thinking "We might actually win the league this season!"

then our season will be over again by Xmas 2015.

what are you harping on about?? :BLINK: How do you know what games I have and havent been to? When was the last time you went to Highbury or Emirates then? I could say you never do too.

Dont care if some no-mark on the internet doesnt think I am match goer or not anyway, as for boo booys, its true - they shouldnt boo! I never do, BUT I want Whinger out!!

Bebo, you're wrong there. Have you read Online Gooner before? I'm a member there and have been since 2004 - they all call Wenger 'Whinger' or another name which I can't repeat here.

Debuchy to face his former club improvised in a new role he's never tried? I feel sorry for the guy. I hope all goes well and that this cluster fuck created by Wenger's negligence does not affect another good defender's confidence.

Lack of confidence will make some players perform worse, but it's true they're still loaded with cash. The real victims are the fans who pay the highest priced ticket in the league and have to put up with fullbacks playing as centre-halves for most of the season.

Anywhooo, on to today's game. Our attack was really sharp and well up for it. Giroud has been brilliant, so was Cazorla and Alexis. The main thing is that we kept pressing them for most of the game, and with the ball up front we weren't too exposed at the back.

Our attacking and possession game was the main reason a we didn't get exposed with our defence consisted of Bellerin and a barely recovered Debuchy improvised as CB.

Great win, a 4-1 that should have been more, but let's not fool ourselves. Our defensive situation is a shambles. Let's see how they fare when the games come thick and fast between Xmas and New Year.
 
Our fans must have been really pissed off seeing debuchy at centre back and us winning 4-1, the poor fans! ;))

We all know what you think of the defensive situation we all feel he same, harping on about it every week isn't going to change anything about it.

Did we sell the game out on the first day? Or did it only fully get sold out a week before the game? Can you send me a screen shot please? Im worried about it and want to see if it is an ongoing problem :PP

Im happy we beat one of the most inform teams in the league and convincingly so. Yes it was at home, yes we have a makeshift defence because of Wenger being a dick in the summer, but a 4-1 win is a 4-1 win well done to the lads and Wenger.

I just finished Amy Lawrence book about the Invincibles (invincible).
At the end of the book she interviews Nick Hornby. HE basically says that the Invincibles have risen the fans' expectations in an unrealistic way.

The beginning of the Wenger years were exceptional and are a wrong benchmark.

Before Wenger Arsenal have had very long spells without silverware too. So basically under Wenger the club has overachieved and the fans who are complaining now are new fans and are not able to see things in perspective.

Nope. Before Wenger came. George Graham came and won the title and a European cup.
 
I think expectations are justified, given the financial situation the club is in. With the money Arsenal can spend, bigger things have to happen now. It's not comparable to the years before Wenger, when the club was in a different situation.
