Thing is the goal by Ozil looked like it was going to stand the linesman did not react until bayern ran and cried like babies and decision got reversed and ozil booked, regardless of what one thinks what it shouldve been but from what anyone can see bayern changed the decision and then all the diving about getting free kicks its a bit sad

regardless debuchy has been terribile i know he hasnt played much but its one job to stay fit and be ready but debuchy has been shocking and seems to only start to play well in the last few mins of each game hes played

campbell i felt sorry for him as he was like playing two positions rw and rb
its good that koscielny is back vs spurs because he is our best defender when looking at our center backs
i feel confident if its koscielny plus anyone but when its gabreil mertesacker chambers without koscielny it doesnt look as good
defensive record this year has been great in the league big part from koscielny and cech

i feel that the mistakes arsene wenger made is that you need to be all in or all out mistakes vs sheffield and two important players getting injured he should simply rest all players in cup matches or use any thats fit being 50 50 is not good

honestly in some ways its sad and feel guility even saying but i prefer arsenal to give up in champions league and focus on premier league even a chance today going on top because our squad lacks depth we have a fantastic starting 11 problem is it doesnt take too many injuries and theres loads of problems, look at city other than strikers maybe theyre lacking but they have a good amount of everything else, but yet we're lacking in multiple positions too many crucial players
so i believe if we focus on premier league plus fa cup theres a chance but if its more then less chance

glad giroud is doing bit better now getting some good goals against teams that he didnt before

team sheet looks good except for debuchy i hope bellerin returns soon
although the bench is a concern Ospina, Arteta, Gabriel, Chambers, Gibbs, Flamini, Iwobi
no game changers defence wise good but Iwobi the only natural attacking player! seriously!
debuchy needs to step it up especially to take advantage from earlier results

Not bad in the end certain ways its a good result because when its 1-0 down to still be equal points its important to get the 1-1 at least, spurs were the better team in 1st half alli that young kid is an amazing player if he can keeps this up

2nd we improved bit by bit and never gave up if we started to play better earlier we couldve won giroud was off his game
referee wasnt the best a few big questionable decisions

ofcourse the win would be better but not to loose after that bad 1st half is important and still be equal points on top is great
but arsenal needs to improve
hopefully gets some players back after the int break

It"s clear that Arsenal have more individual class (that Özil assist was delicious, Rose's pass was too, but it's a one off for Danny Rose whereas Özil does it again and again).

Spurs are clearly better as a team. We played a fantastic first half, and took over in the second half after Arsenal's good start.
In the end we may consider ourselves lucky with a point.

One might point out the number of injuries Arsenal have, but can one really speak of bad luck if that many injuries occur year after year? Is it coïncidence and failure.

And about the ref, the only obvious mistake he made was not sending off Giroud for his reaction to Vertonghen provocation (i'm sure Jan provoked him). Vertonghen deserved a yellow for his provocations, but Giroud took revenge and that is always a red card.

It's well known that Atkinson is an Arsenal fan, isn't he Rentboy? (That is a lame joke, i know).

Well we saw a good match...

Last week i was in London and lived a litle bit of the rivalry between both clubs. We were in a hotel a Tottenham Court Road and in one of the restaurants (VQ or QV) there was some sort of maitre d' who was very funny.Nice guy. Asked my daughter about her favourite football team (Chelsea) and of course was having fun with her. I asked him who his favourite team was. Turned out to be Arsenal...i jokingly told him that Arsenal would loose this match and that i am a Spurs fan...

His reaction: "In your dreams"...turned out he was right...still i dreamed for 70 minutes. It's something at least...

We will never be as good as Arsenal...but i'm covinced we can end in the top 4 this season.


PS: Just reread my post and i forgot something. I said that Spurs are better as a team, but Arsenal have more individual class players like Özil and Sanchez...

Some guys really do go overboard, but if the recent years are anything to go by, I think Tottenham fans are that bit more... extreme. Just yesterday they were pelting Özil with lighters and quarters.
Maybe seeing their neighbours celebrating St. Totteringham Day for 20 years in a row has something to do with this bitterness :LOL:

As for the match itself, it looked like Tottenham players wanted it more for most of the match, and their fitness levels were above the Gunner players.

As for their team being better, I have to disagree there. Arsenal is missing *takes a deep breath* Wilshere, Welbeck, Walcott, Ox, Ramsey, Rosicky, Bellerin AND lost Santi Cazorla midway through the match.

This is baffling indeed, I agree, how on earth all those injuries pile up year after year. I don't write it off as coincidence either. Something needs to be looked at and changed.

As for the Giroud incident, he didn't swing arms or hit Vertonghen with his arms. I saw him giving him a chest bump (both were not being exactly nice to each other in the buildup to that). That was a yellow card offense (unless Mike Dean's calling the shots, haha) but it really is. If it was a yellow for Diego Costa, should be a yellow for any other player.
 
It now transpired that Vertonghen had Giroud by the balls, there are even pictures of it.
Jan really can become Mr. Hyde on a football pitch.

I still think that Spurs are more cohesive as a team under Pocchetino.

It's quite clear that Arsenal has more individual talent, but what Spurs showed during 75 mins was quite impressive. They really unsettled Arsenal.

Of course as a fan i'm biased, but the pundits and papers are saying exactly the same. Beforehand i would have signed for a draw, now i think we lost 2 points (although, like i said, Arsenal could have won it at the end).

As for the rivalry.
You guys must now by now that to me these rivalries are stupid. I can understand it for London fans, but for people outside of London it is imo stupid.

I don't approve of throwing lighters and i'm convinced that Spurs will progress (even) more the day they don't look at Arsenal.

I'll gladly sign for 0 out of 6 points the next 10 years if Spurs ends in the top 4 (which isn't likely most seasons, but a definite possibility this season).

Arsenal have more individual class players and also much more strength in depth.

Personally, i wouldn't mind seeing Arsenal win the EPL. I think they have a good chance this year if they can avoid their usual bad period.

Arsenal's "bad period" might be just around the corner I'm afraid. The team looked shook up against Spurs and the 1-5 routing at the hands of Bayern might have been a factor. But to me, the Spurs players looked better phisically too and many of our players looked knackered. I think this squad is getting strung out from having to play many competitions with the same core of players - we have 8 high profile absentees right now, and that's absurd.

As for Spurs, I agree, the minute they stop obsessing about Arsenal they might get better results. I mean, if those things in the video I posted are true... their striker wasn't allowed to buy a red car? :LOL:
I seriously hope this ain't true.

But other aspects of the video epitomise well these negative things about the rivalry. In a sense, it is part of the show and makes derbies more attractive, but on the other hand, obsessing about it is paving the way to mediocrity: some fans in the video say they don't mind where their team finishes as long as they beat their rivals. Well, I'd say this should be looked at as a consolation prize only.

I've seen in the Brazilian league how pathetic the teams from Rio currently are and they still have this provincial backwards mentality: take the piss out of each other but hey, the team that sits highest in the league is 9th placed :FAIL:
 
I'm listening to a couple of Spurs podcast.
One is good and rather balanced, the other is attrocious.
In both Arsenal are referred to as 'the scum'. Can you believe that?

Both have a fantasy football competition, but in the one of the attrocious podcast one gets points deducted for having Arsenal players and even you win the competition,you don't get a prize if you have a team with Arsenal players...

I was so sick of it that i made a team with 10 Arsenal players, a couple of Spurs subs and Adebayor (hated by Spurs fans).

I wasn't allowed to the competition...one of the guys who does the podcast is from Northern Ireland...a part of the UK that has seen what can be the results of hatred...

It's funny that hatred gets carried on even by people away from North London. I caught some of it when I was living at the doorsteps of the Emirates for some time, and maybe the guy from Northern Ireland attended several North London derbies, who knows.

I listen to Arseblog podcasts occasionaly and read his stuff sometimes. He's from Dublin but he obviously indulges in the hatred - I think those guys must do it, so it resonates with their audience. If they go easy on their local rivals it wouldn't make any sense for their followers.

Even so, the Arseblog guy only goes as far as referring to Spurs as Sp*rs, or "that lot from across the road". But there are surely many many others that go overboard with that stuff.

I think he's done at Arsenal.

Joel Campbell pulled a Gervinho unfortunatelly and he's another one whoose time is running out at Arsenal I'm afraid.

To add insult to injury on an already dismal afternoon, we get a penalty and take it with a player who's shun of confidence (Cazorla) instead of our world beater Sanchez (who's being run into the ground by the way).

This team needs some signings in January, because our cover (which normally would be enough at any team given this strenght in depth) doesn't seem to cover us enough.

Something like this was always bound to happen. The fact that it's Cocquelin of all people, makes it worse.

But this happens time and again with Arsenal, you can't really qualify it as bad luck anymore.

Thomas Rosicky must have played 1 year in the last 5. It's incredible really.
But last year or so when he was fit for a change he was brilliant. And he scored that screamer against Tottenham didn't he?

Anyway, him and Arteta will be out of contract for sure in July. I hope Wenger goes ahead with the plan of getting new midfielders now in January, cause we need it badly.
 
We were flooded w/ midfielders once. I'm excited to see what player takes advantage and prove their worth. Flamini and Ramsey can't play along each other. They focus too much on the final 3rd - both guilty! Rosicky is finally hanging his boots then. Alexis will get the no.7 top . Jack is no no.10 hand that to Ozil. We still have no.9 available too.

On the injury front , what da hell ! That German bloke has worsen the infirmary. I get Wenger played a part in Theo,Alexis and Cazorla lol its bad management any way you look at. I bet Wenger doesnt even Check his gauges when driving. I can see it now, tires off balances, running on fumes,and no spare. On the M4 near Heathrow in W.London or on Ocean Drive in S. Beach -_- . No excuse , non whatsoever . Who told you to get on Biscayne Blvd. during rush hour w/ 1/4 of petroleum in the tank.
 
Wenger has a medical staff.
I presume he consults them before playing the likes of Cazorla and Sanchez.

If that medical staff advised him that it was safe to let them play, Wenger is not responsible IMO.
 
That much is true. Regarding Cazorla though, it was known he had the injury on the 46th minute. Wenger chose to play him on, hopeful Santi would be fine. But his injury got worse during the 2nd half and Wenger had made all 3 subs.

That aside (and the overuse of Alexis) I don't think Wenger is at fault. But Wenger can change things around, because he gets to decide many things at Arsenal. So he could have asked for an overhaul in physical training methods and his medical and physio staff.
There's no doubt our medical and physio departments are fucked up. This injury record year after year cannot be a coincidence.

The new head of the medical team (Chad Forsythe) didn't change anything I guess. It's not better, not worse. The problem must lie elsewhere then, maybe the training regime? I heard that at Barcelona FC all they do is ball playing activities, almost no muscle training? I wonder if it's true. Either way, their injury record is not bad at all.
 
Muscle training is more in the summer and when returning to health which makes sense. I think Barça matters little knowing they don't play in a cold night in Stokes as the joke is replayed over again :P A player will always want to play regardless the knock they're nursing , Henry comfirm that much too. I read Klopp saying Sturridge needs to play through the pain I assume he meant discomfort . I took that as removing any precaution ( mind set) .It seems when Aquero gets hurt its unsustainable . I agree Wenger might not be solely at fault, but he's at fault for not having positions covered.

Arsenal playing in Europa will be a disaster unless Mutd joins them . I do think it's great Liverpool n MCity will most likely get to the domestic cup final.
