I was not offended by his post, no need for warnings and such (my opinion only of course).

About the game, poor decision from Wenger to sub off Giroud instead of, say, Campbell... I'd say this lost them the match.
 
I responded in a bad way to a comment which I took way I admit
but a warning is a bit ott but enough about that

The game itself I agree taking Giroud off was a huge mistake beccause with the couple of chances Giroud would have been the perfect man

The performance was good but sadly with the sending off the odds were always going to be against Arsenal
 
I'm not going to bother finding a gif of the Mertesacker sliding tackle, nor waste too much time discussing it. I'll just say this: If you look at the replay (especially the inverted camera), if you know that this is the Premier League, where people take pride in being physical, etc., then you see how long it look Costa to go down and you know what his character and mindset consist of, you will find your answer.

Having said that, Clattenburgh doesn't have replays and slow motion or camera zoom. He did what he felt he had to and followed the rule.

What we should really focus on is Wenger creating a total clusterfuck with his decisions lately. I try to be patient but sometimes it is difficult to defend him and this is one of these times. Such a ham handed style of man management it was.

Walcott captain? Where the f*ck did this come from? We appreciate his 10 years of service for the club, but you can't do that. It totally disrupts any sense of hierarchy.
I wonder what goes on in Mertesacker's head. Because it sends a message: anyone can be a captain. It'd be like "Congrats Hector on your first child, here, take the armband for today".
I can't help but remember how Wenger stripped Gilberto of captaincy for no reason many years ago only to hand it to Gallas. The rest is history.

It seems Wenger doesn't really acknowledge the importance of the captain role. Hence the lack of leadership on the pitch.

So, after potentially shattering Mertesacker's confidence with this barmy captain appointment, we found ourselves in a situation where he was sent off and someone had to be sacrificed for a new defender to come in.
That it was Giroud, of all people, just compounds on a string of bad decisions.

So he took our in form target man and only fit centre forward and left Theo Walcott improvised as CF. All of a sudden it feels like Theo is untouchable. The gamble didn't pay off and I think this didn't do any good to Giroud's confidence.

Tactically wise, Giroud's departure left us completely toothless when we would need him the most, with his hold up play, phisicality and pivot skills. Against a notoriously well guarded defence (especially sitting on a 1-0 lead) it was always obvious we weren't going to play silky passes to our nimble little strikers, neither would we walk the ball into the net.

The only positive we can take was the return of the ever so brilliant Alexis. But even that might not be enough in the end - this season was supposed to be Wenger's best chance at a league title but he's blowing it so far.
 
Also why he didnt play Elneny? Wasnt the point for signing cover for Coquelin who clearly we've been missing far too much
honestly if Coquelin had been fit I think Arsenal would be clear on top
He played good against chelsea when he was at fc basel
they even beat chelsea once if im not mistaken
I know tough game to enter but sometimes you need to introduce players in tough situations because thats how they rise
flamini has done well here and there but elneny surely is better and when on earth will he be introduced
 
Looked a red card offense in real time, though most refs don't send a player off in that situation that early. I guess credit to Clattenberg?

Of course Costa made the most of it, he is literally the dirtiest player in the league. What do you expect him to do? Be too honest and try to stay on his feet? Diego Costa? The man who at one point in the match fought the corner flat with no players within 20 yards of him?

Mertesacker knew. Didn't even protest.

Still, too much will be read into this match. Chelsea barely tried to score against 10 men, and how hard is it really to defend with 6 defensive players, as well as Willian and Oscar who are excellent at tracking back?

If it had stayed 11 v 11 would have developed into a better match.
 
Arsenal loses and the thread is alive lol . This use to be a community where opinions were heard and brushed off. Today , the only few folks in here moans and says your opinion is daft and labeled ' worst post' . They are the ones direct messaging you to ignore others and the whole place is less active. Don't be so easily offended , let ppl vent and be entertained by what we all sometimes go through, when the shit hits the fan.

I think Wenger is naive and just assume things will click. He baffles me sometimes,it's like he has a slice dementia moments. Chelsea weren't confident enough to score more and to defend vs 10 was enough to get all 3pts. That Flamini going for glory flying leg kick was over the top! We need to put this behind us and concentrate on the next Ramsey n Theo your starting position is on thin ice.
 
Wenger seemed to have been making the right decisions - he got a world class keeper and finally signed a DMF.

But unfortunately some of his daft decisions are letting us down - while subbing Giroud that day was a brain fart, which hopefuly won't happen again under the same circumstances, what really worries me is what he makes of the captain/leader role. Does he think he has to be the sole and supreme leader of the team, thus diluting leadership on the pitch?
This whole captain appointment fiasco sort of highlights the problem. We haven't had a proper captain since Vieira (with his vice-captain at the time, Gilberto, being strangely overlooked to suceed him).

When you look at how Gallas, Fabregas, Van Persie and Arteta have all been captain... but none of them are captain material IMHO.

Mertesacker is the closest thing we've had to a leader in the past years, albeit a very quiet one, but this latest decision by Wenger sends a terrible message that could potentialy ruin Per's confidence.

Moreover it makes a mockery of the whole thing, if you can change captains like that for such a big match. What's next? Maybe let the kit man play on his birthday and let him be captain for the day?

I'm furious with this decision, as it confirms that old cliché everyone uses to sum up Arsenal: the team doesn't have enough leadership. That must be why things go tits up in spectacular fashion when we're not on our day. For Arsenal, "when it rains, it pours", as they say. We lack some individuals on the pitch who will keep a tight ship.

It's true that people post here more often when Arsenal loses, myself included.

I was quietly optimistic about this season and, given the current scenario, it was supposed to be our season. Our main competitors aren't performing as expected and we were supposed to be "running away" with it so to speak, but it just ain't happening. That hunger, that ruthless mentality is not there.

I think we're blowing it, our best shot at the title in years. That 0-4 drubbing at Southampton and this recent clusterfuck and subsequent capitulation in a big match have put a dent in my title hopes.
 
On second thoughts the subbing of Giroud might not be that stupid.
First of all i heard that Giroud had had a knock on training and that there were doubts that he was fit enough to play the whole match.

Second, it makes perhaps sense to gamble on the counter and then you don't really need Giroud.
 
This is by far the most comprehensive opportunity Wenger has had to win the league.Next season Chelsea will be this season Leicester, and MCity under Pep ; God helps us All! Leicester has to believe they can win it. MCity knows a gear up and they can win it. Arsene is hoping injured players can come into the fold and win it . Spurs getting strong by the week and even though they might not saying it , they sure are proving it.

Wenger is so reliant on his business efforts for the club. When does effort in trying to win the ultimate prize a nuisance . He always says 'he has what he needs' and doesn't come close to winning the league. It baffles me he has more excuses why he comes short , and mostly has to do w/ others. I see Spurs and they aren't looking the real deal for just 4th, but for the title! Yes, they'd a massive blow w/ news of Ventong , but I bet they are working to correct that in this window. That Alli kid is s real joy to watch even though I cringe at their success . Spurs are finally going the right direction and playing w/ style they're the Sevilla of old imo.

Mertesacker is out because of the red card, and everybody else is available, apart from Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla. After that it is just a question of selection and decision-making, that is the key.

Jack and Santi are progressing well but they are at least a few weeks away. But these two apart, it is just about competitiveness and match fitness.

on Welbeck…
Danny Welbeck is not completely ready but he is not far. He needs a game or two because he’s been out since last April. The Stoke [under-21] game is too soon because he only had one session with the team, and that is too short.

on Coquelin and Rosicky…
Francis is available to play now because he has passed two weeks of full training. Tomas is also available for selection.

I was saying about the head collision earlier . How can he not notice the ball and player? Then, Gibbs pulled that useless nowhere near 'lag' tackle.

2 things to watch for Jay-Jay Okocha`s nephew 'Iwobi' my goodness such ball control, 1st touch and passing :WORSHIP: he doesn`t dribble he seems to float n glide :COOL:

ElNeny what a player...everytime he gets the ball he takes a shot! I'm not used to that in our CMD lol I know he comes from a very weak league, but he looks ready for a shift.:))

how good is Alexis Sanchez? He scored 9 goals for Arsenal, pulled a hamstring, got sidelined for 7 weeks, returned and scored :WORSHIP::BEBO:
 
Iwobi was quality!

Ospina in goal doesn't do it for me. Cech would have claimed that cross.

Gabriel and Kos look shaky at times. I don't know how it would be against stronger opposition.
Great to see Sanchez back in the fold, scoring and assisting. Quality goal from Chambers, decent display by the Ox. Coq making a comeback... Many positives to take.

Elneny looks a tidy player, who could even pair with Coq, as he showed yesterday. But he could fit in at DMF too, especially after he hits the gym and gets used to the Premiership.

All in all, good result. We saved ourselves a trip to Burnley on a replay.

I'm absolutely convinced that Man Utd will end up in the top 4.

I'm also convinced that City will stay in the top 4.

Who will fall out? Leicester, Spurs or Arsenal?

Oh and i'm not asking which team you all want to fall out, i already know that...

Gerd the tables could dramatically change by the end of the month. Mutd might of found a formula . I think it's more hitting form. In truth it may have a few dips like Liverpool atm. Everton were so close in reaching 4th and had a dip towards the end(2 seasons ago). It's very very suspicious season in terms of 1-5th can go either way. MCity, Spurs and Mutd draw and Arsenal win at the weekend. April will define the outcome!

If Arsenal put as much effort into playing football as they are chasing, yelling and generally remonstrating with the ref they'd easily be winning this match.

I have been fond of this Leicester side all season but today was very unimpressed by how negatively they approached this match. They would break down counters with fouls at every given chance and they embraced it in such a way, that when Simpson (who was on a yellow) got a second booking for pulling Giroud's shirt, he looked puzzled by the refs decision.

Kanté was immense for them, but he too got away scotfree with several fouls to stop play. And especially Drinkwater, that challenge on Ramsey was outrageous, and he got none for that.

Finally, not impressed with Vardy and Mahrez diving.

Anyway, massive 3 points for us. We need to keep pushing and may Alexis click into gear, we'll need it!
 
What a nail bitter of a match. This had it all(Drama,Supspense,Heartache)The ref was very affable and he needed to be assertive. The rules seem to be under scrutiny when one refs gives a penalty for pulling inside the box, or diving for a penalty :Y1 or fouls that are irredeemable. Since, we did the doble on Leicester this will go under the carpet. :BLEH:

MCity wtf!! one job, one job! :RANT: Spurs n Arsenal are famous for bottling their main objective too!

What about the 2nd penalty that wasn't given to Mahrez? What about Coquelin shoving Mahrez to leave the pitch which should warrant a yellow or a send off normally but this time it didn't because Mahrez didn't roll on the pitch like a cry baby?

If that was a penalty, football doesn't exist anymore. Clear foul on Özil from Morgan before the penalty missed, dive from Vardy, handball from Kante which didn't result in a definitive penalty, clear red from Drinkwater. If anyone could complain about the referee today it's Arsenal.

Experienced one of his quieter games. Some characteristically beguiling touches but unable to stamp his magic and was sacrificed after red card. Took a dive in the area


Ref Martin Atkinson 6

A tough game to officiate given the number of fouls and penalty claims and had mixed success. Failed to spot Kante’s handball in the box but right to rule Vardy had been fouled in the area. Sending off of Simpson was harsh and changed the game

It`s tough ,when the refs, fans and media wants Leicester to win. Its integrating for entertainment and the league becomes 'The Company League' . The EPL is weaker when they fail miserably in Europe.

You're being biased. Both should complain about the ref. He might've dived to get the penalty but that's irrelevant because he was clearly obstructed. It doesn't matter whether it's soft or not. Obstruction, in the box; penalty. There was another dangerous tackle on Kante I think on the counter where he was sent flying but the play continued and Leicester scored. That should've been a red imo.

The ref just wasn't that good.
