EA SPORTS FC 27

If you'd like to sign up for the closed beta and provide feedback on the game (the most important bit), ensure that you've got an EA Playtesting account set up.

You can register here, and if available, select the FC27 closed beta test to fill in an additional survey (change the "en-gb" bit of the URL to match your region, if it doesn't change automatically in your browser):

This is great - we can all test it on release day whether we buy the game or not.

The Career Mode stuff sounds deeper than the trailer is letting on - but again, the trailer was never going to be for us anyway.

From what I've read, Authentic will be expanded upon further this year. There were differences beyond sliders (which you could turn on/off via the "Authentic features" toggle), but fairly subtle.

The more years of iteration we get, the better it should be. And let's be honest, considering the state of eFootball - it's our only hope (even if it's slim).

Curious what's included in FC27 lite in terms of content. I generally only play KO matches, so if they give quite a lot, that might be my answer

I hope i will be selected. It is always nice to play the beta 🤘

I got an email about the closed beta today, hopefully will get to give it a go.

Cant really take much from the trailer and it wasnt mentioned so I think it’s probably just the fact it wasn’t shown BUT, there was no sign of NHL style dribbling. This is me just putting it into the universe in blind hope.

Unfortunately that is the case for every sports game these days..

A few days ago I was watching this video.

And maybe I am crazy, but in a way this game looks better to me than modern FIFA/EA FCs. Of course the fidelity is better nowadays, but the overall look of this game feels much more realistic. I wish devs would try to have a simpler but more realistic approach to graphics.

Regarding EA FC27: No surprise that it doesn't look like a game for sim heads. Maybe it is again a little step forward. But like @Chris Davies said, all this The Ground stuff is not a good sign. NBA 2k also got ruined by The City.

Even from arcade perspective, the gameplay feels too shallow. Try games like fifa 06 or world cup 06 and you will see those arcadish games still had more depth than the current FC games. Now I wont go out of my way to say that FC 26's gameplay was completely trash. There are things in that game that are good, but the overall flow of the games in recent fifa games just feel bad.

Some of those old games had a very photorealistic art style. If devs used modern graphical fidelity to imrpove upon those artstyles, the visuals would look amazing. Unfortunately they love these weird looking artstyle which aren't even as appealing as games like wc 06 next gen [which had less realistic art style but still looked pleasing].

I don't expect much from the so called authentic mode 2.0 to be honest.
I just want fouls to come back. Lol it is a very abnormal thing to say for a football game but it is what it is.
7 Free kick goals were scored in a single month in WC 26 yet I took only 1 free kick just outside the box in a whole year playing.

The UGC (User Generated Content) element has been confirmed...

You can design your own Career Mode challenges.

the "dynamic OVR" is such a gimmick and not even a new feature. it was already in the game but theyve now given it a UI and a new name...

the creation portal creating challenges is something I dont have any interest in

the grounds, I dont have any interest in

my only saving grace is Authentic 2.0 but I guarantee thats gonna suck too cos they are too scared to actually go crazy with it and half of 1.0 "features" were just sliders

sorry to be a debbie downer here lol

*still signed up for the beta though*

The "Authentic gameplay" stuff is the most important piece of the jigsaw, as far as I'm concerned. I'd have loved FC26's features if it just didn't feel like such a step down from past games on the pitch.

If it's still like this in "Authentic", I can't get past it:

Did they bring Volta back with The Grounds? Or is it still just the modes already available in Clubs with addition of 1v1? It was hard for me to tell from the trailer.

That's honestly, IMO, one of the worst trailers I've ever seen. Talk about deflating. I'm thinking that Grounds thing gets old, really fast.

The "Fortnite-ization" of football games.

I thought FC 25's trailer with Bellingham and the stadium and "Everything in its Right Place" was a good one.
At least they were trying to inject real club drama into it.

Oh well. Here's hoping that Authentic 2.0 in Career Mode is a real thing, since I actually think FC's Authentic Mode is in decent shape after the updates.

I think there will be a lot of "under the hood" improvements. Their dev team can use Claude/gpt and that is an improvement if they are able to use it. I hope this year is the year where the authentic gameplay take a net split from the competitive one, this the reason why for us the gameplay still feel odd.

Authentic 2.0?

Oh, come on. It's another label.

Is it going to have more realistic ball physics? No.

Are players going to move more realistically? No.

The ball will behave like it's on a piece of string. And players will be able to turn like they're made of rubber.

How do I know this? Because last year they said that with the Authentic option they can't change the basic game. And the drooling Fortniters want the basic game not to be like football.

The modders of PES can make a more realistic football game with just a few tweaks from their bedroom. EA with their millions from exploiting gamers have had years to give us that option, and won't.

It's all smoke and mirrors.

This is soo bad in my opinion, its somehow good.
They will lose audience this year, some kid will buy and play Fifa open world next to GTA6, yeah right!

They really chosen great timing for this stupidity.

We don't know this yet.

It's 100% fair to prepare for disappointment given how far downhill gameplay has gone since deciding to focus entirely on the "competitive" players from FIFA 20 (speaking as someone who hasn't been able to play a full season of FIFA/FC's Career Mode since 2018).

But, in adding "Authentic" mode, the devs have started a journey, and clearly want to appeal to guys like us - even if it's nowhere close to enough of a distinction as of FC26. Right now, they know it's not enough. So we don't "know" the things you mention yet, because:

...last year they said that with the Authentic option they can't change the basic game.
"Last year" - exactly. The whole point of calling this 2.0 is that they are separating it further from the base game each year, and this year is a new milestone.

There is a team dedicated to this now, so hold on for the Pitch Notes - and then obviously the beta / "lite" version because we'll all still be sceptical - before judging it.

I'm not saying it's going to be amazing, I don't know that. But I am expecting a genuine improvement this year to the point that I personally hope I can get some enjoyment out of an FC game for the first time.

EDIT: By the way, I know these trailers do them no favours - they're crammed with buzzwords (exactly like "Authentic 2.0"), and the blurb is so vague it's meaningless. But the marketing department has its own team / agenda, and that's to entice the audience that will place a $150 pre-order for the Ultimate Plus edition. Hence why I say, wait for the Pitch Notes.

I think authentic mode is something like plan B for them ... as idiots online continue to buy those pack and play ping-pong, its fine for EA.

Only if that cash-cow stops, then they will go back to normal gaming.

Authentic 2.0 is here, it's a good news. We have made many feedback, so let's see if they read our comments. I have no hype at all.

FC 26 is not perfect but have some nice things but badly made. We want more depht in career mode and gameplay!

The biggest shock for me is them releasing a free lite version

Considering i mainly play kick off mode i might not even have to buy the full game

I'm waiting for the bad news of what is stripped out of this version

If I get all the teams, stadiums and authentic 2.0 included I'd be pleasantly amazed

Maybe you have to walk to the stadium in a demo version of The Grounds to play kick-off :BORED:

I'm expecting multiple pop ups at least asking me to buy the full game (all defaulted to the yes option) and maybe a few 30 second adverts that can't be skipped for other EA products

All that I can deal with if it means me not again giving EA money for another shitty product.

If the authentic 2.0 gameplay is genuinely a big leap in the right direction then I will buy the full release to signal to them that they're doing the right thing but I won't hold my breath
