English Premier League thread

there aint many english managers about, and if they are bringing in an english manager the best choice would be ian holloway.
 
Theirs very little choice Lo Zio and when the options are so poor a foreign TOP CLASS manager seems a much better choice simply because the big name players at International level probably won't respect the manager, Only Redknapp would probably get that and by your own admission you don't rate him very highly.

He's actually Northern Irish, and also turned down the NI job when it was vacant a few months ago. However I'd never want any of our managers to leave us and manage the old enemy at international level, ever!

P.S. like the comment that you think we play the best football :SMUG:
 
back to the landon donovan talk, cmon guys give some props, especially you evertonians, he saved there season. I always loved his game and i think he lends credence to an up and comming league..
 
To be fair, that striker whose name I can't begin to spell (Strachqlsilsilshesly) and Pienaar look pretty handy too.

Interesting that 'next big thing' Jack Rodwell can't get into that team at the moment.

Crap day to be a Jacks fan, and its not over yet.

Poor away form comes back to hit us again, we lost Vorm before the game because of a virus, Tremmel looked exposed, our defence couldn't handle the Stoke height advantage and they got 2 goals from it. Plus our orange kit was a poor choice which could have been a hindrance. 14th now, still 9 points away from the drop zone but got a lot of difficult games to come. And then there's the events unfolding at Wembley at the moment.

Not happy. Can't believe Arsenal's comeback though, amazing! :SHOCK:
 
If Swansea would go down ( which i can't believe), that would be a major loss for the EPL.
They are joy to watch and an example how ordinary clubs can play superb football. As a Spurs fan, i'm a fan...
 
I'm hoping we don't go down, and it's nice to see there are a lot of neutrals that feel the same way. I don't want to sound big headed in any way but I think there are a number of teams around us or below us in the table that play lesser quality football than we do and are probably more deserving of going through the trap door.

Wigan being one of them, and we travel to their place next. We really need to get some wins on the road, because that is our undoing so far this season. Home form has carried us somewhat. April will be a crucial month, 3 homes and 3 aways, and we really need to ensure safety at the end of it because we got two difficult final games in May - Man U away, and Liverpool at home.
 
But how about that Dembele assist? Am i really the only one who thinks it was superb or does nobody cares because he doesn't play for a big club?
 
It was a very good pass, perfect weight on it for Pogrebnyak, also a good finish by him with the feint to dummy the keeper.

I don't think Swansea will go down, they are almost safe already and their home form has been very good, they should get enough from their remaining home games to be ok. How long is Vorm out for ? I think Tremmel is a bit suspect. So far as I can see it seems like the bottom three (Wigan, Bolton, Blackburn) and then QPR and Wolves as the candidates for relegation. There is a very slim chance that Villa or Swansea, if they had a total collapse, could be dragged into it, but I think they'll only need another 6-7 points to be safe, they have much better goal difference than the bottom 5 as well.
 
Lovely assist from Dembele.

Very good performance by those gooners and a reality check for some our players with Bale being at the top of that list.
 
Great assist by Dembele, he has been putting in very good performances for a long time now.
Fulham and Everton are teams that I like in the Premier League, it's good to see them doing well.

Also Swansea and Norwich don't deserve to go down. It's a joy to watch newly promoted teams play like that.

I wish Stoke would get relegated. Won't be this season, but I hope it will be soon. They are completely anti-football and that dickhead coach of theirs, with that stupid baseball cap, inducing some kind of bully-football... looks almost like another sport. Awful to watch. I hope they get theirs.
 
Not that I am hoping for particular teams to go down, if I had a preference I'd go for Bolton, QPR and Blackburn.

Wigan at times play attractive football...

Bolton played really well last year and this season they have lots of injuries, their two best players haven't played a single match. Under Coyle that team did undergo a real transformation.
 
Wigan seem to have some strange ability to scrape through - but that will all depend on Rodellega. They desperately need him to fire them to safety.

Villa have just lost Darren Bent for the rest of the season - given how bloody turgid their play is under McLeish, I wouldn't be that surprised to see them go down.

Who knows what Wolves will be like under new management. I like Mick McCarthy and don't get why you'd sack him a few weeks after the transfer window shut. Some really good players there though, so you'd of thought a decent tactician could sort them to safety.

Bolton should be fine, just having confidence issues imo. Decent players there too.

Blackburn are doomed.

So all that combined, I think it'll be Wigan, Blackburn and Villa...
 
I'm hoping Vorm will be back for the Wigan game, though it depends on the severity of this virus. Tremmel looked rusty at Stoke, he didn't have a BAD game but should have done better for the second goal, and the defence didn't help with their difficulty in coping with Stoke's direct play.

I can see why people dislike Stoke. I think Pulis is a bit of an arse at times and their dull long-throw/hoof it style of play hasn't won many friends. I'm glad he didn't get considered for the Welsh job, I wouldn't have liked our renewed confidence broken by deploying a style of play from the (shudder) Bobby Ghoul era. Stoke won't go down, they seem to grind out a result when they need it. QPR will drop though I reckon, and Blackburn too with a manager out of his depth and a comedy board upstairs. Bolton might just stay up at Wigan and/or Wolves' expense.

We do need to beat Wigan though to keep a cushion between us and the bottom six, would be great to go to their half-empty stadium and stick it on Martínez. They do seem to have a knack of staying up when it looks like they got nothing in them. They can play some attractive football but they just have no real end product, save for maybe Rodallega, who often blows hot and cold.

I forgot about Villa, they have been dire all season, they could be in the mix.
 
Yeah Stoke won't go down. People hate them but they're too solid an outfit. Too well together, they work super hard for each other and in many ways define what a 'Team' should be rather than individuals.

I don't think Swansea is in any real trouble yet either like Edmundo said.

I see Blackburn and Wolves going down with either Bolton or Wigan.

Darren Bent is out for the rest of season?! damn didn't know! That's not good news for Villa! Still should have enough quality not to go down but you never know...
 
His team play dire football...i like Villa as a club under MON they were terrific...but now they are not good to watch.
 
shit result tonight vs netherlands, and the u21 slaughtered belgium without pearce lolol..
although it was a young team and 2 their goals was from counter-attack, but with capello we would of probably won this game. fuck you john terry..
