Football Manager Series

Genuinely huge news in that blog post about 1) this year's game and 2) the evolution that will be next year's.

Amazing to read a developer talking two years ahead of time, knowing that it could in theory lead to detrimental sales of the upcoming release (but with that "carry your saves forward" news, I don't think there's much chance of that).

Sports Interactive remains my favourite game development studio ever.

Has Sports Interactive had any conversations with FIFA about that freshly available licence?

"So if we had had conversations with them, I wouldn't be able to talk about them," Jacobson said. "But we're not in the business of making action games," he explained - with "action games" here referring to the controllable action of games like EA's FIFA and Konami's Pro Evolution or eFootball. "That doesn't mean that we won't, or couldn't be in the future," Jacobson continued, "but if you look at FM and you look at our match engine, we are a simulation of football, we're not an arcade version of football. So I can't imagine people wanting to sit there and play in 90 minute matches, which they would need to do in our engine - whereas in some of the other football titles, if you play the 90 minute match, imagine what the scoreline's gonna be right? So our engine in Football Manager is just not suited to be an action game."

Oh PLEASE make an "action" game Miles! Please please please!!

A huge part of me hopes, but dare not speak, that the move to the Unite engine is not just to make it easier to port better graphics across the platforms, but to tweak the engine for an "action" experience in the future...

EDIT: Couldn't resist dropping him a tweet.

I really hope we someday get a “third game” although by then it could be just essentially a second game, as eFootball could completely die off.

so developers said to the invited content creators that FM 24 will be "the last as you knew him". According to them (dev) FM 24 will be the peak of the current generation.

I am on the fence with this one after what Konami did and knowing that FM has zero competition.
I hope the next generation will be again about us, the users, and not microtransactions.

If it's possible to continue a FM23 save on FM 24.. then it's possible to play with FM 23 database on 24 ?

What microtransactions does Football Manager have?
I don't know a single one, except I think you can pay for an Ingame Editor.

SI have never been about microtransactions and don't think they will ever start.

I will also do the July update next couple of days, as had a look and there is literally only 2 files to update and the kits are pointless doing as none of the new season kits have been completed.

The save game file contains all the loaded database information.
Exactly. Out of the Park baseball I think has these options for years plus historical rosters. FM devs can really enhance the experience with certain features. Imagine being able to load databases from previous years with custom rules etc. Probably though there are a lot of licensing issues.

At the moment, none.
And I hope they stay this way. However, can't help to be worried after what happened in the past years with PES & FIFA.

SI are not FIFA and Konami.
They will not add microtransactions to their games, as they are fully aware people hate them.

The game also has a huge modding community which means it is even more unlikely for this to happen.

Don't worry guys, they'll never add microtransactions. They're not that stupid to destroy a product that made them millionaires. It's not EA or KONAMI with mindless sheep following their crap products. If they dare to add a single microtransaction into FM they'll go broke. Their major clientele is 40+yrs old gamers. You can't mess with us.

But I want Neymars new haircut in game and I am willing to pay £9.99 for a hair pack..

Didn't update the game for July as there was no new graphics available.

There doesn't look like there is going to be much graphics this month either as doesn't look like many new kits have been updated.

However, I will upload a new Data Update every Friday until the end of the transfer deadline.

August Update

Data Update - 01/08/23
Logos - Updated with v06 and v07
Faces - v9 - v12 Uploaded
Kits - These have not been updated - Although there are some available, they have not been released as packs.
Increased realism patch updated to July version

As stated, the Data Update will be updated weekly until the end of September.

Mid August Update

Data Update - 18/08/23
Logos - v08
Faces - v13
Kits - These have still not been updated.

Will do another Data Update next Friday and then after the Transfer Deadline.

Summer Transfer Update has been uploaded - Although realised it could be a pointless file with many mercenaries joining Saudi clubs today.
